All questions have been answered, some which have been completely unexpected and some which we kind of figured out. So many revelations, this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It starts off where Dreamfever left off, so i had to go back and read that first - I was confused after reading the first chapter of Shadowfever, it had been that long! Shadowfever took me by surprise, it was sooo good, my favourite of the series now!(less)
Ecstasy in Darkness is book 5 of the Alien Huntress series by Gena Showalter. Here's the gist of the story...
Growing up poor on New Chicago’s meanest streets, Ava Sans had two options: be the predator or be the prey. No contest. Now, working for Alien Investigation and Removal, she’s been ordered to capture the biggest, baddest warrior of all—a vampire too beautiful to be real, with the ability to manipulate time. Once the leader of the entire vampire army, McKell has been deemed savage and unstable, spurned even by his own kind.To McKell, humans should be nothing more than sustenance. Yet the petite, golden-skinned Ava is a fascinating contradiction—vicious yet witty, strong yet vulnerable, lethal but fiercely loyal.
Ecstasy in Darkness is enthralling, hilarious ride from it's outrageous characters to it's witty dialogue. Set in a futuristic world of aliens and vampires, the opening chapters are one of my all-time favourite and had me giggling at the banter between the characters.
I loved McKell, (I call DIBS on him) though a tough guy, he's so sweet but completely clueless at times. Ava and Noelle's argument's had me cracking up and just because they insult each other doesn't mean they'll take it from anyone else!
Ecstasy in Darkness was the first book I read in this series and I enjoyed it so much I went on to read the rest though I didn't warm to them as much. This book will always remain my favourite from the series.(less)

I admit I did think that that this one wasn't going to be as good as the previous books. But boy was I wrong! It was amazing, and the shocks kept coming, I had no idea what was going to happen next. I practically had to force myself to put the book down and pull my head out of Genny's world. I gave up fighting it in the end and finished the rest, lol. Now I'm sitting down, biting my fingernails, thinking how I'm going to survive until the next instalment in 2012. At least we got a happy ending and yay! no cliffhangers. Which'll make the next year or so bearable!! If you haven't read this series, you should. I promise you won't regret it. (less)

The story is jam packed with action, the plot is intricate and the world building complex; which keeps you guessing to the end.
The Sweet Scent Of Blood hooks you from the beginning and takes you on a wild ride through a modern London where supernaturals exist side by side with the mundane. Suzanne McLeod has written vampires the way they should be written, as well as a array of witches, trolls and other supernaturals.
As a long time book addict, it's not often I come across a book that that I absolutely adore; that leaves me excited for the next instalment without having a giant cliffhanger killing me with frustration. But what I loved most was reading an urban fantasy that takes place in familiar settings. To see these places the author describes, in a new light.
If you like Dark urban Fantasy which don't need explicit scenes or cliffhangers to keep you wanting more, you'll love this book. (less)
