The days of bad men stealing nuclear weapon novels, the days of spy novels are totaly gone and whichever book you take its the same nowadays. The bug has bitten some of my favorite authors too, including Harlan Coben. Eventhough the book had its moments, I cannot say I enjoyed this book as i used to enjoy the series, and still the few first books of the series were very good. I still miss the witty encounters between Myron's rivals, Action etc., Then lately, to say the 3 last books, are totally away from this, and now we have ended up with global terrorism. Man, I see it everyday on TV, and just to move away from it I open a novel and it talks the same too.
As this is said, the books is a decent thriller with Coben,'s usual formula - a past, missing person, and some twist - nothing new. And to add to it, the plot is nothing new at all : Coben Missing person mystery + Boys from brazil = Long Lost. I do not wish to say that i figured out half way thru the book what was comming. I am a normal person who gets surprised with the plot twist often, and Coben had done it quite a few times with me, but the point here is those who have been reading for several years + had read "Boys from brazil" + when the storage of embryos was introduced fro the first time half way thru to book = easy guess I beleive.
Anyway just give it a try, its a good novel.(less)

Usually I read a book twice or thrice after a bit of interval between each read, but this book, I read several chapters Twice immediately as I enjoyed reading them. Especially the chapters involving the Kidnaps and surveillance made me feel at an edge. The only thing that I noted is towards the end - it dragged a little bit, but the intense picked up at the right moment with an excellant climax. I came across a review which said that the author works on a specific formula - Spy leading a normal life - Called to do a favour - the favour becomes a nightmare - survillence - the spy saves the day. Well I totally agree, but are they not the rest of the mystery books the same ?
- A dead body - a lone detective - he fights his way up in the hierachy and other departments of law and justice - a unsucessful love life - he solves the mystery.
- A missing person - unknown dead bodies - they are connected, but how - in the end the author uses all his best cards to make twists and turns and a poor little fellow who has nothing to do with the crime emerges a culprit - Review : "I did not see it comming ... Awesome"
- A scroll - a hidden secret (mostly concerning Jesus) - shakes the world - everybody runs - helicopters (sometimes I wonder why there was a helicopter) - End : The scroll has another hidden meaning with an obvious climax
- Boy meets girl - love - "You are handsome" - "I love you" - another boy meets the same girl - love - "You are handsome" - "I love you". And to my suprise the books finishes with an open ending, lets the reader deceide whom she chose - Wow !
The list goes on. But the point it whether its enjoyable, leave alone predictable. Thats what counts for me rather than the "same" plot or the "same" formula.
Its a fiction, it rests a fiction. No comments on the relationship between countries, religions, spies, violence, toture etc., as we all are aware of it and I suppose we can distinguish between "real" and "reel".
Enjoy reading and please bare my english, as its a foreign language to me (still trying to improve). (less)

I enjoyed Platation better as it had much action, and expected the same here, but a big let down in action. The other drawback is the ending sentence of each chapter. At a point I was telling myself what is the necessary to end each and every chapter with a "cliché" sentence. If the but is to make the reader turn pages, sorry, I really felt like continuing sometime later, as I feared to come across the last sentence of the next chater very soon - all chapters are quite small. Also, eventhough the author tried to insert humour and coolness here and there, it did not tickle me. But it was quite nice to see something. Lastly, you come across - "a sentence" - and then a - "what ?" - and then the - "same sentence" - all thru the book, and the lead lady does not stop asking questions even in a life/death suituations. But still its quite enjoyable, if you really do not mind few such things and just let the author narrate what he has to say. Personally, I liked the suspense. Eventhough you come to know whats happenening, at least for me, I went on to finish the book much eagerly waiting for the suspence to be disclosed and it was crafted well. I do not wish to debat or talk on the relegious matter taken up in this novel knowing very well that its just a fiction. Please bare my english, as its a foreign language to me (still trying to improve). (less)
