The hero ( Lucien yum... yum. yummmmmmm ) was beyond dark - Gothic as you like - With his scarred face and back ( from a whip )and painful limp - hes a sinister figure who you guessed it ... dresses only in black....Queue evil laugh....Sounds extremely cheesy -But Oh my he is sooo.... did I mention yum lol?
Out to seek his revenge on the Rohan family because his sister was jilted by her fiance (The eldest Rohan Son )and went on to kill herself -He decides the best and most poetic way to do this is cause the ruination of Miranda Rohan.
He arranges for her to be abducted and... ruined.
This doesn't keep her down however and athlough she is shunned by society her family stick by her this causes Lucien to rethink his plan and come up with another type of revenge........
This book have some dark moments and the reason Im giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the end....... it was horribly rushed and about 8 pages before the end ( without giving to much away ) a huge plot bomb is dropped and we just dont get the time to clear it all up comfortably for me - its all very very rushed - and its such a shame because the rest of the book is great.
There is also the added bonus of a beautiful sub plot romance between Luciens Best Friend known as the King Of Thieves and Mirandas oldest and most loyal friend Jane- this actually brought a lump to my throat at one point - Im such a wimp lol.
After I was half way through this book I stupidly realised that it was book three in the series..... It doesnt matter - youll enjoy it if you have or have not read the rest of the series ( which i now have )...more

It wasn't until I've come to review the book I even realised it was part of a series - me being me of course ive started at number 3, but it made no difference to the book.
The story was beautiful - childhood best friends seperated as children by a horrific act that the heroine knows nothing about, leaving her broken hearted that the love of her younmg life has deserted her and leaving the Hero to start afresh in London with his family, never quite the same as he was when he left. -The pasts of the hero and the heroine come back to haunt them in so many different ways, both desperate to move on but neither sure just how to do that, until they are reunited as adults, brought back together by a series of events that no one would guess.
Their reunion finally leads to them both opening up, just a little at first, making the other fully aware that although they are now all grown up - the children they once were are still inside them, as is the friendship they had so many years before, when things were so simple. The adults they have grown into have anything but simple lives!
Im saying no more and im not going into the plot fully - Yes it is ( As almost all romance novels are ) written to a well known formula... but this books goes beyond the normal formula and makes itself much more!
This book gave me cold shivers and I only wish it could have been twice as long as it was, I didn't want the story to end, I wanted to know more and more about this couple and how they carried on through life, with the possibility of the past finally no longer taunting them I was left so sure that they would be happy together and that things given more time will only get better between them.
I found this book.....OK - Although I liked the characters - I felt the story was rushed - or aspects not explored enough. I didn't like the fact thatI found this book.....OK - Although I liked the characters - I felt the story was rushed - or aspects not explored enough. I didn't like the fact that this prim and proper Virginal Heroine within seconds of meeting the Hero ( whilst he's engaged in an orgy no less ) is suddenly thinking that the years shes spent sheltered from the outside world and as a spinster mean nothing to her and suddenly she wants him - there's not even the oh will I wont I aspect - oh what shall i do about my virtue - Its mentioned briefly then the next thing you know she's snogging the face off of him, she throws a couple of - oh no I cant's in- but it was all too quick for me. After what seems like two sentences with the Hero - she actually states - hes my friend... again tooooo sooooon!Especially given the reason why she is there and what he's actually saying to her. The baddies in this book are very bad, as I say the characters themselves are well written- but sadly the story is rushed so we don't get to see the characters properly I don't think. There were a few points when I thought oh wow - here we go ... only for the action or drama to be rushed through, leaving me a wee bit miffed.
I would say give the book a read - the characters are good ones and the basis for the plot is very good - just poorly exercuted at times. ...more
I loved this book - Just as I've loved the whole series.
This is Wraiths story - and although he's not acting the wraith we have com4 1/2 stars for me.
I loved this book - Just as I've loved the whole series.
This is Wraiths story - and although he's not acting the wraith we have come to know and love through the previous two books - I really liked seeing even more of the softer side of him. In fact its one of the things I love so much about the seriesin general - the Bromance's are spectacular - the men in each book are all UBER alpha's and yet each can show so much tenderness and compassion - not just to the mates they ultimatley find - but also to their brothers and a very very few lucky close friends.
As ive said before - im not going into the plot too much - I don't want to ruin it for you - but the book is written beautifully - there is action galore and the romance is superb, and if you have read the previous two instalments - Which I suggest you do before you read this book - you'll know that the romance and pace is not what was expected from Wraiths story.
