A year ago, they went their separate ways, and Danny never heard from Laurel again. That is until now when Laurel turns up with a baby on Danny's doorstep. It turns out that Laurel got pregnant that night and disappeared to have a baby - Danny's baby. Now Laurel is back with papers for Danny to sign, to relinquish his parenting rights of his little girl. The thing is though that Danny isn't the type of guy to dump and run and he wants to be in his daughter's life. Something that Laurel never expected he would choose. Forced to play another card, Laurel ends up taking Danny to court and this part I liked was that the judge ruled in a shared custody arrangement of Laurel coming to spend time with Danny and the baby and vice versa. The pair agrees to give it a go, and soon Danny finds himself loving the role of being a father to his daughter. The thing though is it is also giving him time to spend with Laurel, but she has an on/off again boyfriend Mike who is a bit of a player. I have to admit I loved the character of Danny and how he was stepping up to the plate but I wasn't keen on Laurel as I wanted to slap her and say Wake, Up look around and stop wasting your time on Mike and making stupid decisions. I also found Laurel quite a selfish character whereas Danny was prepared to make everything work including doing his studies online and working to help provide. I am hoping that there will be another one in this series where we will finally and hopefully get our HEA with Danny, Laurel becoming an actual family. Yours and Mine was a fast-paced read that kept the reader's attention as you wanted more of a Laurel/Danny dynamic and hoped that she would put on her big-girl panties and go for Danny, not Mike, the player. ...more

Every author and writer will tell you the same thing, which their heads are filled with amazing ideas that they need just to jot down. Some of those lucky ideas will eventuate into proper stories whereas the majority of them, however, will just sit and fester away and soon become part of the unfinished collection, scribbles and then will be long forgotten about until the inspiration strikes again. As I am a fan of K.Webster's works when I saw that she had released this book, though I didn't have a clue as such to what it was about I just knew I had to have it and give it a go. Inside B-Sides and Rarities, readers are given access to many plots - some that only have a paragraph written into the story, others a couple of pages. I have to admit throughout the book reading the stories; there were some of them that I wish she had made into full-length stories as I had been hooked and was a tad disappointed when it ended. Think of B-sides and Rarities as a short story collection or as the cover shows - a haphazard collection of tales. B-Sides and Rarities was a quick read and perfect for fans of K.Websters or anyone curious to see what goes on in the minds of an author....more

At the end of Book #1 Vanished, Brit turned up, and Beth had been the one to die. Everyone believes that Brit had nothing to do with Beth's death and that she was a victim too. That is everyone except for Kalah who was friends with both of them, but closer to Beth than Brit. You see Kalah knows Brit's true colors and how she always likes to be the center of attention and nobody crosses Brit and lives to tell the tale. It is considered social suicide to cross Brit, and it seems since Beth is dead, things went too far. In Avenged, Kalah will start her investigation to catch Brit out for the murder but can she complete it successfully especially when the fingers are pointing at her as the murderer in some twisted love affair where they have painted Kalah as a psycho stalker. Personally, for me, I did enjoy Avenged but felt that it fell a bit flat for the story it was trying to portray. Yes, Brit was a sociopath but it could have played a bit more on her sociopathic sides and her need for attention as nobody can be that clever which we did discover her flaws at the end of the book. I had also hoped that Kalah's family could have been a bit more supportive of her as they seemed quite oblivious to what was really happening and seemed to place the fault on her by suggesting strongly she goes to therapy etc. The Vanished series is a great read if you loved Sara Shepard's series Pretty Little Liars and The Perfectionists mixed with the Kiss Kill Love Him Still series by Jamie Blair and wanting some teen mystery to add variety to your reading lists. ...more

I love all her books, and one of my favorite mobster type series is Ruthless People. I find for a mobster family, the characters are all easy to relate too and though they have evil sides and powerful they all hold an ethic of the family comes first and will do everything in their power to protect the ones they love. American Savages starts with the introduction of young Melody and a young Liam Callahan as they are thrust into the world of mobsters and loyalty. Years later, these two would be joined in marriage to unite both families together. Eventually, they fell in love and had a son named Ethan. All was going well until one day, Melody disappeared, and Liam was accused and charged with her murder. American Savages starts with Liam in jail and his trial looming. Readers waited in anticipation to see if Melody would turn up or let Liam rot in jail. When the family is finally reunited, it seems that danger is looming around all corners and there is a mole in the midst. As more people are killed and information leaked, Liam and Melody as the head of the families organization must take the lead and find out who is trying to betray them before their closest family members are killed in the line of loyalty and duty. What will happen though when the mole turns out to be someone in their inner circles and someone linked to power? Will their duty of punishment waver or when more are killed will the family take matters into their own hands? I have had 9 Letters sitting on my Kindle since last year and decided it was time to give it a read, hoping that it would be emotional. Reading 9 Letters, I likened this book to the movie PS I Love You based on Cecelia Ahern's book as it followed a similar plot line just in a gender reversal way. It was nice for a change to read this with a male lead too as most often it is women that are left as the ones living. Luke's wife Emily passed away a year ago, and he isn't coping as well as he should be. Luke is drowning in grief and sleeping with one of his colleagues and using her as a booty call. He has distanced himself away from his friends and family and slowly day by day losing parts of himself. On the anniversary of Emily's one year, since she died, a group of 9 letters arrives. Each letter is addressed to Luke in Emily's writing and numbered 1-9. Each letter consists a challenge which will help Luke to move forward with his life, and he mustn't open the next letter until he has completed the challenge that Emily has laid out for him in the current letter. The first challenge was to go and pick a pet dog. It is here that Luke meets Rita and emotions and feelings that he has not felt since Emily are stirred up. As the book goes along, we read as Luke starts to pull his life back on track with Emily's guidance and in so will find himself meeting new people, making new friends and some of those have the possibility of becoming long-lasting and forevers. If you need an ugly cry book and a story that will pull at those heart strings of yours, then check out 9 Letters by Blake Austin today as this is one story that will not leave you with a dry tissue but a wet sopping one. Ten yearsOne of my favorite themes to read about is second chance romances and even more so when high school/ college reunions are added to the mix. Ten years ago, Cammie fell in love with a guy in her class Dalton, and then tragedy fell upon Cammie, and she changed. The only person that ever got her through her dark days was Dalton, and all went well, right up until Prom. From that moment, Cammie was heartbroken and avoided Dalton like the plague, and so this happened until they both froze one another out and never talked again. Fast-forward ten years, and it's time for Cammie's High School Reunion, and she is only keen on catching up with one guy - Dalton. Over the years she has searched for him, but not found a single trace not even on Facebook. It's like he no longer exists, especially in a world where everyone who's everyone now has a Facebook account. We discover that Cammie is working at a radio station as a producer/fact checker and occasional talk show buffer between the hosts. Dalton is an undercover cop and working on a big operation at the moment and has the night off to attend his High School Reunion. Both have one goal in mind - find the other and tell them how much they love one another and eventually live HEA. Easy enough right? It would be, but Cammie is wary of Dalton's job due to her personal heartbreak at losing her father and watching her mother suffer. Can Cammie open her heart to Dalton knowing he is a cop or will this be what halts the idea of their HEA ? The ending of this book did get me thinking about whether if you were in that situation where your ideal partner had a job where you were always worrying, would that be a relationship ultimatum for you or would you just suck it up as you love and care for them too much to choose a life without them at all ? She is also sarcastic and a bit of a smart-aleck and seems to rub her best friend's partner's friend Mark up the wrong way. When the two of them are in a room, all they can do is pick on one another and treat each other horribly. When Mark's father comes back into the picture, trouble follows as Mark's family are thrust into the middle of loan shark debts as the loan sharks threaten to come after Mark's mother. I have to admit I am a huge fan of the whole friends to lovers stories and even so when they are reunited years later, and there is a story to tell. Even more so, when the person comes back with a different name and you are left confused as part of you knows it's the same person but then are you certain as they have a different name? Years ago, Joss had everything she ever wanted - she had great friends and more so a Mother and Dad who loved her more than anything. One day that was taken from her in a swoop as it started like any other after school day where her friends and classmates had turned up for the races which were held at Joss's house including the new weird kid Christopher. Next thing she knows her mother and father are arguing, her mom leaves with another a guy, and her dad drives his car towards Joss almost killing her. Had it not been for her savior that day, Christopher. Then just like that, he vanished, and then the book fast-forwards eight years into the future and Joss is at the high school. This year there are three new yummy boys for the picking, and they are good at Softball just like her. One, in particular, Wes fascinates her, and as they spend more time together, she is convinced he is Christopher. However, he doesn't seem to know her unless he's putting on a very good act? As the year goes by and Joss struggles deeper with her relationship - Wes becomes her sounding board but as her emotions become entangled into their friendship, can Joss separate Christopher from Wes as they obviously aren't the same person or are they? I enjoyed A Boy Like You as I do wonder whether if you ran into someone who you briefly knew 10-20 years ago today, would you recognize them? Would you be their friends or would you ignore them and pretend to be someone else?
