J After loving Book #1 Unethical , I couldn't wait to read Foolproof so when I saw it available on Netgalley I had to request it and I am glad I did. Just like Book #1 , I loved Foolproof. Unlike Book #1 though Foolproof takes place during Summer Break and focuses on Jules whom we meet in Unethical - she is Payton's friend and roommate. Those who have read Book #1 will remember Andrew who was selling prescription drugs , he sold some to Jules which caused her to go to rehab and now she is out of rehab and busy squirrelling away at Office Jack's. Enter Ryan - he is the son of Jack - the owner of Office Jack's and home for the Summer till he decides what to do with his life. He is due to head to the Police Academy after the break, but unsure that it is the actual direction he wants to take. Sick of relationship drama but hot on Jules , he discovers in a girly magazine an article titled "The Six Foolproof Tips to a Summer Fling" . He tries this on Jules and soon the two of them are having fun and things have the possibility of becoming serious . What will happen though when Ryan's psycho high maintenance ex-girlfriend Lexi comes back into the picture and Jules finds the article ? Will Ryan get a second chance with Jules or has he blown it ? From the first band moment where Sara is vomiting before their big debut - the reader gets the feeling that maybe it's just nerves but then we are faced with her home life and Sara's tears start to pour as the truth is that she has a nasty stutter that only seems to disappear when she is doing the thing she loves most - singing otherwise she is simply "Fighting Words" and in her everyday life prefers people to think of her as a mute as she tries to avoid talking. In Fighting Words we read the affect that her stuttering has on not only her life but those around her. While singing one night, Sara's eyes connect to an Italian/Jewish stranger named Gio Goldstein , he makes Sara forget about her stutter and when she is around him - she feels safe and to her surprise she hardly ever stutters around him. As their relationship deepens Sara falls for him , but what will happen when Sara discovers that his profession is as a Speech therapist and she feels betrayed by him. Can Sara ever fully open up and trust him or will the thought of her stutter and his job make her back away and close herself down once again from the "real world"? Fighting Words was a really good read and one that made you empathsise what Sara was going through. Fighting Words also readers does contain alot and when I say alot , I mean alot of tears - so be warned....more

For me , that was Books, Blogs and Reality by Ryan Ringbloom. As a fellow book blogger, I have found that I have made so many facebook friends whom I can chat about anything with not just books but that's how we met. More often than not, I also find myself talking to them more than my "real" friends . This book introduces us to four book blogger friends who love romance reads - all sorts of romance and they chat about the books they have read, rate them and write their reviews which some are featured in the book. As well as their book chatting, we read about their "real lives" and how they have incorporated what they have read into their reality and discovered that reality is not like life in books. We have Brooke who has an office romance with her boss , only to discover that forbidden romances aren't what they are cracked up to be and that more often than not - feelings do get hurt and they don't end well. Rachel has always been a fan of the BDSM type novel and the sluttier and sexier the better, so when she adds that element to her romance - she discovers it's not like in the books and leads more to pain than pleasure. Jess is in love with bad boy player Riley, who sleeps around but can she make him fall in love with her and will he stop his player ways to be with her just like what happens in the majority of New Adult novels or will she discover that it only happens between the pages ? Last ,but not least Lisa - she got married straight out of high school and now she is wondering whether she did the right thing as the spark between her marriage has disappeared and her old what if ?? flame has gotten back in contact ? This is one of those books where you have to read it if you love Books and Blogs as you won't be disappointed and readers this is one of my choice for the Best Books of 2014....more

Also available as a serial , Behind the Stars is a new collection and tale from Leigh Talbert Moore who is known for her Mosaic Series. Behind the Stars is not normally a book I would have picked up, but since I have enjoyed this author in the past - I did. To give you a heads up, this book is a Science Fiction adventure and in a way reminded me of the TV series "Starcrossed". A group of aliens have invaded earth and especially the small community of Dabbs Creek . They have kidnapped the townspeople and split them into two groups - the ones that they needed are in a working camp and the rest of the community have been placed under a sleep serum and put underground. Phone calls have been made to outsiders , so that the incident isn't drawn any attention. The big question though is why are they here and what do they want ? Turns out that their planet is under attack and they need somewhere new to survive and live and the humans have been sourced to help them in their tasks to survive. Unlike the majority of them it seems that Prentiss is the only one who has not been affected by what was given to them all and is the only one actually conscious of what is happening around her. As the story goes on , we see people killed and people die - unintentionally though as well as Prentiss becoming closer to one of the captors - a guy named Gallatin and they both teach each other of their worlds and what is happening. Near the end of the series - we read of the escape but it turns out that things aren't really that simple as Prentiss is forced to make a decision - one that prior to this she had no doubts of what she would choose. Will she stand by Jackson and kill Gallatin or will she discover that her heart now belongs to Gallatin ?
This was a fast-paced and action packed series and for someone who does not like Science Fiction or alien stories, I really enjoyed it. The action and adventure of the story makes the reader feel that they aren't just reading another sort of Alien race story.

Now he has been holed up iDamien used to be in the spotlight as a famous meterologist but when an accident occurs, it causes him to retreat and hide. Now he has been holed up in his sister Vanessa' house and she is trying to get him back into the "real life" mode. When an appointment comes up and Vanessa has to pop out, she leaves Damien to work alongside Lisa in her bakery "Sweet Delights". It is here, that the phone rings and Damien picks up and Sophie is on the line and from then we can see that this will be the romance plot. However as the story goes on, we read as Damien struggles with the courage to ask Sophie out and then when they do , he requests that they must be in the Dark. Sophie thinks it's odd , but goes along. This was a quirky and cute romance and unlike the cover could suggest - this isn't a paranormal or supernatural novel , though of course people could argue this by saying that Vanessa's sweet delights have cupid matchmaking skills. The other underlining issue that Dating in the Dark explores is the world of celebrities tabloids and the invasion of privacy and how it can affect someone's life.

Now centuries later , these two are brought back into each other's lives and must work together to not only save their lives but the lives of those they care about around them. In Book #2 it seems that someone has on his target list Angels and the first name is Michael's and it's bad as the sword was cursed and unless they can find out the owner of the sword and the type of sword - he may only have about a week to live. This part reminded me of the pilot episode of the new TV series "The Librarian" when Noah Wyle's character Flynn was stabbed by Excalibur and there was no cure. If an Angel Killer wasn't bad enough to try and stop , Hellhounds have been released and have attacked two of Mia's guy friends Jesse and Dean and it looks like Dean's life may be cut short if he can't be healed by a miracle. Also in The Angel Killer, Mia discover's exactly the truth behind who she really is and what she is capable of in terms of Angelic Powers.

Earlier this year, I read a book by Tamra Lassiter called Perfectly Innocent and I loved it , her writing style made me want to read more by this author so when I saw she had a new one out , I was like awesome I must read it and I am glad I did. The Gifted as I was reading it , was similar in storyline to a book I read a while back and in parts I had to think - have I read this book or not as parts of the story sounded similar. In The Gifted we meet Sara whom when she was nine years old discovered that she had the ability to fly. After her discovery , her parents start to move around and stay under the radar. We later discovered that this was because her parents used to be involved with a organisation that catered to those with Gifted abilities. Sara's mother was one of the highest gifted people , so when she ran it was a scandal . Now Sara has been spotted and taken to the home base, but can Sara escape with the help of newcomer Fleet when she discover's Simon's ulterior motives for finding the Gifted....more

The story starts with Faith on her way home after five years , over the past years she has tried to stay as far away as she could and has been working as a stripper. Now though, she is tired of running and believes that in order to move on with her life , she must face the past. This means coming home and facing those she left behind - Noah and Luke. The story tells two time stamps - the present time and the past- five years ago and what went wrong, that caused her to escape. Faith believes that if she confronts Noah and Luke, then she will finally be free. A lot has changed and happened in five years though, Noah is now a preacher and Luke - well he is he and as I don't want to ruin the shock factor for you , I shall leave him at that. The discovery of Luke now definitely had me go ARGH and I was like OMG. Will forcing Faith and Noah together again cause them to pick up where they left off or has too much time past ? The other minor storyline I liked in Faithless was of Charlie whom Faith meets on the bus and discovers that she is running too. Charlie's story sort of reminded me of Katie from Nicholas Spark's book "Safe Haven". This is one serial that is definitely worth getting your hands on and I look forward to reading the rest of the serial series....more

In Book #4 we read as Cooper and Riley's wedding is coming up fast - this was the story I read in Book #1 and we learn that one of Cooper's brother's is dating a movie star and that Tucker is expecting a baby with his fiancee Gracie. All this leaves one more brother - the oldest of the Wilde Boys and Jake is definitely a Wilde one , he is the type of guy who owns a bar and sleeps with a different girl every night and of course has on the side Harley - she is Jake's go-to girl and Number #1. Harley has only loved one person ever since she was younger and that is Jake- despite her outward appearance , she has only ever been with Jake. Harley as never asked for more as she takes Jake as he is, but when wedding bells start ringing all around her - it makes her take a step back and look at her life with Jake. Can she make him commit or has everyone been right with saying that she is wasting her time with him ? I have to admit that Wilde Times was one of my favourite contemporary romances as the situation is some aspects and in Jake's personality reasonated to my reality and some of the thoughts that run through Harley's mind in this book , I have been in the same situation especially when Jake sleeps with the one person Harley has warned him never to go near. Will Harley take Jake back when he finally realises that she is the one for him or will it be too late to turn back the clock ?

Under the name Marcus Sunday, he has written a book all about committing the Perfect Crime and how one becomes the perfect criminal, but what is more interesting is his hypothesis on how one can turn their moral clocks and go from being the Perfect Detective to the Perfect Killer- how does one snap to that level ? Who better to test this theory on than one of the best Detectives and highly ranked cops around - Alex Cross who has spent his lifetime catching the killers nobody could catch. At the end of Cross my Heart, we read as Alex Cross's family members one by one had been taken from him and it finished with Alex starring at the photos of his family members each dead with a bullet hole as a fashion accessory. Hope to Die was quite an intense read and the reader starts to feel sorry for Alex and the emotion rate on this book is quite high as true fans have grown up with Alex's family and who wants to really read about their favourite family being brutally tortured and killed off one by one. During this book, the first body shows up and we are left wondering if it is Bree as by all means it looks like her and then in Alex's backyard the next one appears - this time resembling his older son Damon. Is the rest of Alex's family next as the Killer bides his time waiting for the next crack in Alex's armour ? As like previously, I loved reading James Patterson's Alex Cross series and will be the first to admit that out of all of James Patterson's characters - I definitely am a Alex Cross and John Sampson girl. Not to give off any more spoilers, I will leave with letting readers know that Hope to Die will possibly be the most intense and emotional packed of James Patterson's books that you will read , especially if you have been invested into the characters since Book #1 like myself. Hope to Die is definitely a book that all dedicated fans of the Alex Cross series must read. ...more
