She kept saying how I had to read this book next because she had to talk to me about it. She said she hated the way it ended because it didn't tie everything up for the main character. Today I asked her if she hated it or if it just made her sad. After more discussions about what happened I think she got the sad for everyone involved that I was aluding to. Even more sad is that I could see this story really playing out as I read it. This book was an easy read and even easier to grasp. Deep down you route for him and want things to work out and keep turning the pages till it all unfolds. I wouldn't say I like this book as much as the wake series, probably because I do enjoy a paranormal twist, but I would say this book is a good read.(less)

I see places where it would have been handy to have had a continuity editor, but for these few things the enjoyment of the story holds true on its own as its sales have proven. This is not the first book of this kind I have ever read. A.N. Roquelaure tells a much more shocking and explict story. This one has true undertones of believabilit and tenderness. I felt the feeling of intrepidation and anxiety as I read the story. I will be reading the next installment and hope that as Ms. James writes on the books only get better and keep the same tension.(less)

I had a hard time pictuing a horse swimming in the ocean and the pace of this story seemed a bit slower than the Mercy Falls series. I'm glad I did not give up on this book, not that it is in me not to finish a book. The last two pages did it for me. I thought I knew what was going to happen and I wasn't even close. Wow and thank you Ms. Stiefvater, is all I have to say.(less)

So I bought the book from this indie book store an hour from where I live and had it shipped to me so that I might be able to finish reading it before going to the author event to hear from Ms. Morgenstern in person. Unfortunately life got in the way and I was only able to start the book before the event. I do confess that I did find Ms Morgenstern to be truly engaging and enchanting in her person. Her story about writing this book I found very interesting and inspiring. It's a never quit and never give up kind of stories with a little it only happens very rarely like that added to it. Now back to the book itself, I did really enjoy it, if only a little less that the Harry Potter books. I am kind of perplexed as to what the purpose was for arranging the vinettes in a discombobulated timeline. Aside from that each chapter paints the movie in your mind. She has a knack for the descriptive and spins a tale very easy to grasp and interweaves emotion with just enough impact for my liking. I was very pleased that the audio was done by Jim Dale, one of my all time favorite narrators. I have a passion for reading the book and then enjoying it again by audio to see what I missed. This story is a joy on audio. I will be sharing and recommending this book to others, most definately. Go buy your copy and read it now to create the show in your mind before it shows up on the big screen, because Summit has picked it up, even before it went to print, and they are working to bring it to the masses in film. So go get your ticket (book) and become a Reveur.(less)

It's not a thriller, fantasy, or suspense novel. It's just a story about Emma and Dexter. It's just real and believable. I really don't have much more to say about it except maybe its a fast read that is easy to pick out the pieces that are personal to me as I read. Thats all.(less)

They were wrong, but the important thing is to try it and experience it and you may be surprised or you may not. There are so many things I love about this book. The honesty in the writing. The way not everything is roses and sunflowers more like real life. I love the conflict of hope and reality. The one thing I wouldn't say I didn't like but I was hoping for is to see the antagonist get her come upins. I was also hoping for loose ends to be tied up. The ending is truly bitter sweet but maybe just a little to one side. I wish more people would read this book and consider how their actions reflect on others.(less)
