Brandon is assigned to assist the baseball team when they are short a coach. He and Jake end up becoming friends and then soon begin wrestling with their growing feelings for each other. They quickly discover they are both very much attracted to each other. There isn't much opposition in this story. It's pretty low key, but they have a wonderful relationship. Great, warm and fuzzy kind of story....more

I absolutely love it, especially becuase Jeanette Grey wrote it based on the picture that I chose. I can't imagine how she could have written any better of a story than she did. I asked for loads of angst and that's what she gave us. Ben and Duke have been friends for 16 years and Ben has secretly been in love with Duke all of those years. The story opens with Duke nursing a broken heart over a cheating girlfrined. But in the meantime, he finally catches on to Ben's feelings, or what he hopes might be Ben's feelings, for him. Duke decides it's time to stop denying himself what he feels.
The guys in the photo that this story is inspired by have a few tatoos and Ms. Grey very cleverly works them into the storyline, making them very significant in a very sentimental way. The use of the song was brilliant too! That was a brilliant way to end. Of course, now the song is stuck in my head! LOL! What a great story, thanks for giving me the angst I love so well. I'd love to see more with these two. ...more

(view spoiler)[The first part of Dark Horse was hard enough to get through. I could barely see my kindle through my tears. If I had know really known how much Justin loved Dan, and what a wonderful guy he was, I'd have sobbed my way through Dark Horse. And believe me, once you read The Missing Butterfly, you are dying to know what, if anything, happens between these two. Wally is finally leaving his evil wife when she does drop a bombshell on him like the blurb says but it's something that makes Wally happy on the one hand, but on the other, could keep he and Antione apart, if they ever have a chance. He's right, Antione doesn't handle it well, but being long time BFFs, they find a sweet way to make amends. I REALLY REALLY hope that Ms. Derr gives us an actual book #2 with these guys.
I've now read this one at least four times if not more. I've lost count. It's short enough that it can easily be read in one sitting. When I want something that's absolutely sweet and warms every inch of me, this is my go-to story. I love it!...more

I found it to be brutal and disturbing and even a bit upsetting. As I was first reading it, I thought to myself, I don't think I like this story very much, but I kept reading and then the story took a turn and I thought, well, maybe I do like this, in a weird and disturbing sort of way. Having said that, you may wonder if I really liked the book or not, and the short answer would be ultimately, yes, I did. The story is dark and is basically one of a gay bashing that is briefly described, which, in and of itself, the subject matter alone is heart breaking.
Charles is overweight and insecure but is picked up by Terry, an extremely hot Latino guy at a bar. Charles is suspicious as to why Terry would seek him out, but he goes with it. It's not long before things go really bad. There is a bit of a twist in the story at that point that makes it quite a bit interesting. I think though to tell you would ruin the story. It makes for a good ending though and really helped turn the story around for me.
I had to step back at the end though as the message at the end was a bit strong, the stand up force the world into submission bit was a bit harsh, despite my staunch support of the GLBT community. After reading the story and then that hook at the end, I felt a bit overwhelmed. Needless to say, it was a pretty powerful story, and I actually waited a couple of days before I even wrote a review because I felt like I needed to digest it. It was just that intense. But it's good, just be forewarned, and don't go into it light hearted.

Taylor is in love with Will and isn't sure how much longer they can be partners if Will doesn't feel the same way. But Taylor admits his feelings and is then shot a few hours later, which changes their relationship. Will doesn't want to lose Taylor (he's not willing to admit his feelings), so he takes Taylor camping, despite the fact that Taylor hates camping. They both want to make things work though. While there, they begin working on what could be a relationship for them but then, stumble across a plane crash holding millions of dollars of stolen money. It just so happens that the thieves are back to collect their money and now they need Taylor and Will out of the way. It's a fairly suspenseful book with a believable plot. Things get pretty heated between Taylor and Will once Will stops denying his feelings. I'm starting the next book right away....more

I understood why Devon kept his real identity on who he was a secret because obviously he had been burned previously by boyfriends who used him for personal gain. I think 4 months was a bit long to carry it along but he and Scott, although comfy together didn't seem to have a permanently established relationship established yet either. I sometimes found Scott overly irrational but tried to be understanding because Dev really was being evasive and Scott had some emotional issues that he had to deal with. I liked how Scott found out who Dev was. It worked out very well in the end. Fantastic story!

Sit down and hold on because this one will blow you away. My heart was in my throat and I had to remind myself to breathe through a good bit of the book. There are some very intense situations...quite a few are heart breaking too. Brandon's daughter is kidnapped when he brings her to meet Nicky. It's pretty easy to figure out the culprit pretty early on, but the point of the story isn't for the reader to figure out who did it, but to see how Brandon, who is a cop and see's himself as infallible (or at least that he should be), falls to pieces and how Nicky carries him through it. His issue also is that being a cop and having dealt with missing children investigations, he knows the innerworkings of investigations and knows more that the average civillian so he is tormented with what he imagines is happening to his daughter who he is just starting to try to build a relationship with, at Nicky's encouragment.
Brandon and Nicky's relationship finally solidifies in this one. We also get to meet all of Brandon's family. We still get a couple of good bondage scenes...man, can Nicky work a rope ;o) and you, the reader more so than Nicky, get to "hear" Brandon's thoughts on how he feels about Nicky...which is very sweet. I'm sorry that this is the last in this series so far and hope that now that they have a HEA at the end of this book, that we can see some more of Brandon and Nicky because they are one of my most favorite literary m/m couples. ...more
