The one that bothers me the most is after the fear landscapes begin, Tris has been told by Tori, her Mother and Four that she can't continue to do that well because she will be revealed as divergent. But she continues to do well. Four asks her how she cracked the glass because she shouldn't be able to do that, and she continues to do it. Yet the consequences everyone warned her about never come. This quirk is fixed in the movie. This is my one rare instance where I enjoyed the movie better than the book. The romance suffered in the movie, but everything else was much better. (less)

A GR reviewer stated that she literally could not finish the last 30 pages of this book. I actually enjoyed about half the book and I thought she was being a bit dramatic, but now I completely agree. Their problems get old fast.
Forget that the hero (who began as a strong, confident, sexy man with a past) is a whiney flea that won't leave her alone. He is a stalker...not even in a awww thats cute look how much he cares for her, he is just persistent...no. NO. He is scary and needs to be locked up for his countless physical assaults on any man that looks at her.
Her best friend America is the most fickle woman alive "give him a chance..no forget him he doesn't deserve you...you are so mean for ignoring him this way...I cant believe you let him treat you that way...quit hurting him, cant you see his heart is breaking?!" SHUT UP!
The heroine isn't much better. A spineless wimp that goes along with what everyone else wants and ignores her own desires. Yeah, lets date one man and sleep in anothers bed because of a...BET. yeah. eff you. get a clue. sticking to a bet made as a joke when the situation changes doesn't make you honorable. It makes you stupid. Parker sounds like the catch of a lifetime, but apparently crazy turns this wimp on.
I rented this book in Wimp's POV and the second book in Crazy's POV and I will be returning both...the second unread. pfft. Like I wanna relive all this crap twice.(less)

I was going to love "The pride of Jared MacKade" but it was annoying. Half the time I didn't know what either of them were upset about. They had sex then one stormed off mad leaving the other as confused as I was. Prepare for emotional whiplash.
Set up for Cassie and Devin...expecting a predictable and slightly cheesy read, but still looking forward to it.
I need to start a new shelf for books like these under "filler" for the books you read in between books you can't wait for.
Oh yeah, does this series remind anyone of NR Inn BoonsBorro series? with the haunted B&B and the brothers...she changed just enough for it not to be repetitive, but I can't help compare the two.(less)

The hero makes too big a deal out of something, made the plot feel forced. In the end the strong Alpha hero just looked like a whiner. Wrap it up with a too cheesy for pizza ending and it just doesn't measure up to the first book in this series.(less)

Does no one else wonder why we did not get to see Jace and Jocelyn reunite? umm hello because she is going to wake up and have a different explanation for who Jace is...right? anybody?)
Speaking of unidentified sibling kisses, it is Jace and Clary right? not...Luke and Leia maybe. Hmm. Simon is no Han Solo but he'll do for second string. Valentine made a good Vader too huh? got that whole "Luuuuuuuke, I am your Father" thing goin for him. He's like a paranormal Hitler ousting all the downworlders. As you can see the book is very original.
What bothered me most was that Clary was almost stupid in her Bravery. She kept barreling into dangerous situations with zero training and poor Jace had to pick up the pieces. She is like that girl that picks a fight with the baddest MFer in the bar then looks to her boyfriend to finish it.
You know a book is bad when the movie adaptation changes practically everything about it. And when I say practically everything, I mean NOTHING that happens in the movie happens the way it happens in the book. I don't want to compare to Twilight...but I need to say that if the Twilight movies veered as far from the book as City of Bones has, millions of fans everywhere would be rioting. Good thing it's not as popular.(less)
