At the time I got the book, it was free (it's not at present, sorry), so I thought I'd give it a try.
I did enjoy the book, but there were some things I think the author could have written better. When the two main characters, Jordan and Gage get back together, they couldn't keep themselves off of each other. While that could have been endearing, two trained kick-ass assassians just wouldn't put the other in more danger just so they can have sex whenever they were together. Especially when strong feelings attract the demons they hunt. It actually got in the way of the story at times. Fortunately, the story eventually corrected that and those sex scenes made a lot more sense.
As for the rest of the story, I, in fact, felt that the "good guys" or shadow dystroyers were well developed characters. I enjoyed their interactions a lot. Therefore, I felt that this book was a good set up for the next books in the series. Will I read the rest of the series? I'm undecided at the moment, but I feel that it did earn 3 stars....more
I had to continue my Jane Austen alternative literature spree. Since I had "According to Jane" on my iPod Touch through the Kindle app, it was easy. WI had to continue my Jane Austen alternative literature spree. Since I had "According to Jane" on my iPod Touch through the Kindle app, it was easy. When I first spied this book I thought it was a YA book due to the description. The book surprised me as it was not. It was an adult book with adult scenes and situations. Ellie merely has Jane Austen helping her along as a very opinionated spirit guide. As you view Ellie's life you actually travel back and forth in time. Yes, occasionally, I would be a bit confused as to where you were in her life, but that was quickly resolved by reading a bit further. I can see why the author chose to do it this way as the juxtaposition of these timelines made the lesson more poignant. Even though the book ends on a expected note, it is still satisfying.
I think this is a good, quick read. If you love 80's music, this book is right up your alley since the author also pulls the characters around that musical theme. I gave the book 4 stars. ...more

I'll just sWell, if you follow this blog... or at least the book boyfriend meme on this blog, you can already guess that I enjoyed this book. Fine... I'll just say it... it's a good PNR! Now on to the review:
Ah yes... Roland, one who was thought to be anti-social and a royal pain in the.. uh... hiney is very swoon worthy! He "meets" a young music teacher, Sarah who is strong, independent and a bit weary of others herself. Roland finds himself wanting to protect the young mortal from danger he feels he brought upon her and as the danger progresses she finds out exactly what he is. Now the question becomes is if they both can trust one another to find out what is sparking between the two.
Some may find the relationship between Roland and Sarah a bit fast. However, I found it completely refreshing. There was not a frustrating amount of me yelling at the book saying... "Tell HER!" or "Tell HIM!" when it came to any secrets. They both laid their souls bare and dealt with the consequences. This is probably one of the reasons I forgave Sarah for stealing my book boyfriend. She also gave as good or better than she received even when some things were hard for each other to understand.
I'm not going to say much more because I'd be tempted to completely spoil the book and I won't! Prepare for it... *evil laugh* Hey, I knew I needed to give you one or you would have exploded waiting for it. ;) I give this book 5 stars and I flew through the book. I can't wait for the next in the Immortal Guardian series! If you love PNR, you will enjoy this book. Can I have the next one now? Seriously, can I? *bats eyelashes* ...more
