If Julie Jacobs- or is it Giulietta Tolomei, either way- if she has her way- the answer is...(I'm not giving it away- you'll have to read it to find out).
Upon the death of her aunt, Julie returns to Sienna, Italy on a quest to find the secrets left behind by her mother and father who died when she was young. Juliet also discovers that her real name is Giulietta Tolomei, a name that has deep ties to Sienna- both past and present. What does the attractive Alessandro know about the long standing feud between the Tolomeis and Salimbenis?
What a page-turner! My only complaint is the way Julie/Guilietta quickly, without the need for convincing, starts to think she is Juliet- and all the implications that it entails (don't wanna give anything away). The modern love story was not overtly convincing to me but it does not detract from the overall mystery of the book. A great read for any historical fiction/historical romance fan!...more

[returnA collection of 12 essays broken down into 3 sections: Outlaws as Outcasts and Outsiders, Wales and the Marches, and The Robin Hood Tradition. [return][return]The primary focus overall was on Robin Hood however there were a few other really fascinating topics included in the collection. Brewer's "Let Her Be Waived" really caught my interest; her essay looked into women and crime in the year 1293-1294. Also Fouke le Fitz Waryn, a Welsh folktale steeped in history, of whom I knew little about until now but my interest has been sparked to dig further and learn more.[return][return]A great collection of essays on fascinating topics, I highly recommend this compilation to any medieval history enthusiast. Great critical approach to the topics!...more

Should she help the man, who broke her heart, defend an alleged WWII war criminal? [return][return]Charlotte is surprised when Brian shows up in her Philadelphia office asking for her help in defending Roger Dykmans, the brother of a Holocaust hero. Did Roger turn his brother into the Nazis during the war? Why is an antique clock so important? And why did Brian ask his brother Jack, who is also a laywer, to help out on the case when the two do not get along? [return][return]As a history lover, the book's settings and characters were intriguing. The book jumps throughout the past 100 years almost seemlessly- before the war, during WWII and after- leaving you to wonder how it is all going to come together; couldn't put it down until I reached the very end! I highly recommend to historical-fiction fans!...more

[return][return]I do not mind a little romance here and there, but when the entire book is dedicated to it and there is no conflict or real plot line, it can get a bit tiresome. Dary and Elizabeth love each other, we all get that but would like to have seen more twists and turns along the way. It finally does come in the last 15-20 pages of the book but it was too late for me. [return][return]If you want to read about the average day-to-day life with the two sneaking off every five minutes to show each other how much they love one another, then this book is for you. If you are looking for a plot- look somewhere else. I got bored 1/2 way through and almost didn't finish it......more

It's 1493 and Rodrigo Borgia has now been pope for almost a year, but Francesca life as his poisoner is far from routine. Can she keep the pope, as well as those closest to her, safe? She will have to do everything in her power to protect those around her, even if that means putting her life on the line to ensure their safety.
Another great suspense! The Borgia Betrayal picks up where Poison ends.... love the chemistry between the characters. Looking forward to the next installment already! Great read for historical fiction fans....more
