Will it last long enough for a quick second honeymoon for Captain Lewrie and his wife Caroline?[return][return]Captain Lewrie goes to France with more on his mind than rekindling romance with his wife; he decides to combine business with pleasure. He uses his visit to offer up captured French swords in exchange for his own captured sword, held by Napoleon himself. However everywhere Lewrie turns he seems to bump into a person from his past- and they all hold grudges and want him dead! Will Captain Lewrie and his wife make it out of France alive?[return][return]I got this book not realizing it is part of a series, I was looking for a Royal Navy adventure and was disappointed as 3/4 of this book takes place on land. That being said, I was also unaware of the past experiences of the main character Captain Lewrie however without the background ofthe previous noveld I was still able to follow the storyline. However best bet would be to start at the beginning......more

Pulitzer Prize- should have known it would have been pompous, preachy and pathetic. Mr. March was not a likable character at all, I could not sympathize with his plight at all. He was a coward and his actions were not noble. He wanted to teach slaves to read yet seemed to do it to feel better about himself not because it was the right thing to do- this summed it up for me "I had determined to start the teaching of literacy by having all my pupils learn to write their names. First, though, I thought to teach them to write mine." (140-141) He is so self-centered!!! His actions throughout the whole book are all for the wrong reasons.[return][return]War is bad, we all know this but there was not one redeemable character, except maybe Grace. Brooks paints a bleak picture of human nature, I would be surprised if she likes people at all. I would not suggest this book to anyone and I wish I had never read it!...more
Charlotte's ex shows up out of the blue after almost a decade and asks her to drop everything, fly to Poland and help him with an important court caseCharlotte's ex shows up out of the blue after almost a decade and asks her to drop everything, fly to Poland and help him with an important court case. Should she help the man, who broke her heart, defend an alleged WWII war criminal? [return][return]Charlotte is surprised when Brian shows up in her Philadelphia office asking for her help in defending Roger Dykmans, the brother of a Holocaust hero. Did Roger turn his brother into the Nazis during the war? Why is an antique clock so important? And why did Brian ask his brother Jack, who is also a laywer, to help out on the case when the two do not get along? [return][return]As a history lover, the book's settings and characters were intriguing. The book jumps throughout the past 100 years almost seemlessly- before the war, during WWII and after- leaving you to wonder how it is all going to come together; couldn't put it down until I reached the very end! I highly recommend to historical-fiction fans!...more

She has become tangled in something much bigger than she realizes. Claire arrives at Trinity College and becomes the talk of the college when a colleugue is found dead. A man she was seen with only hours before he turned up dead. How does Hannah play a role after 300+ years?[return][return]Interesting story, historical on some points but complete fiction, still a fun read! It was a page turner that kept me wondering how it was going to all come together. A nice little love story (or two) also made it fun. Two stories in one! 4 stars......more

This is a story about the life ofWhat if Robin Hood was King Richard's foster brother? How did the outlaw affect the Richard the Lionheart of history?
This is a story about the life of Richard- his quest, his loves, and his eventual kingship. As Richard goes off to fight in the Crusades, he leaves home not as he planned. He also finds 'love' from 3 different women: his sister Johanna, the love of his life Berengaria and Ida who worshipped the groiund he walked on. Each love different in its own way but how does each play out in the tale...
The book seems to be how the people who love him influence his decisions both on and off the battlefield; however Robin seems to be talked about more than he is actually present. This is a tale of Richard- not Robin. Overall a interesting historical novel, would reccomend it to fans of English history. ...more

Which side should she pledge her alligence?[return][return]It's 1492, Francesca Giodano takes over her deceased father's position as poisoner to Cardinal Borgia. Rare to be a woman poisoner, but even more odd when she gets dragged into a plot of treachery and murder. It is a monentous conspiracy that could cost her her life and thousands of others. [return][return]Murder, religion, lust and conspiracy- this book has it all. Such a page turner! I love historical fiction that grabs you and pulls you in, even after the end. Poison did not disappoint. Kudos Sara Poole, looking forward to the next one already!...more

It's 1493 and Rodrigo Borgia has now been pope for almost a year, but Francesca life as his poisoner is far from routine. Can she keep the pope, as well as those closest to her, safe? She will have to do everything in her power to protect those around her, even if that means putting her life on the line to ensure their safety.
Another great suspense! The Borgia Betrayal picks up where Poison ends.... love the chemistry between the characters. Looking forward to the next installment already! Great read for historical fiction fans....more
