Delilah S. Baker believes that Reverend Samson Judges is perfect in every way, shape and form. Too bad he's already spoken for. While that might mean something to another woman, to Delilah, it's a mere bump in the road. After all, she has everything he needs, doesn't she?
Samson has tried to deny his attraction to Delilah, but the truth is he can't. The closer he and Julia Rivers, his chosen one, get to that altar, the more he finds himself longing for Delilah. Will Samson be able to fight his weakness?
DELILAH by Sheila M. Goss is an okay read. I like that Sheila doesn't veer too far from the original story, as Samson was a judge and his name is Judges in this story. Sadly, I felt as if the story screamed for more! The passion, revenge and plot all seemed too relaxed. Even in a Christian book, there can be steam. From the very beginning, it's obvious that Delilah is an outcast within the church. Samson is built up like an unsuspecting victim instead of a willing participant and that just didn't sit well with me. The story leaves off in a way that readers will need to read RUTHLESS in order to see the outcome....more

If you think Mob Wives, Basketball Wives or any one of those Real Housewives anywhere are custom fitted with drama, scandal, and deceit, then you need to run up on first ladies, Jasmine Larson Bush and Rachel Jackson Adams. Both are certain that their husband has what it takes to be the president of the ABC - American Baptist Coalition.
Although Hosea Bush is repping the North and Lester Adams the South, there's only one coveted position. May the best woman win, as Jasmine and Rachel prepare to do battle to get what they both want. How far are both ladies willing to go for the win?
When I first heard that SINNERS & SAINTS was to be a collaboration featuring the bad girls Jasmine (Victoria Christopher Murray) and Rachel (ReShonda Tate Billingsley) I already knew that readers would be in for a serious battle of wit, attitude and tricks. Because I've read all of the Rachel books, I was proudly flying my TEAM RACHEL flag. However, Lady Jasmine has piqued my interest and I`m going to have to give her a try.
SINNERS & SAINTS was an entertaining read. I'm hoping to see these two together again.

Sunday Tolliver is blowing up! Record deal, reality show, and college. Her life is a dream come true. Well, sometimes it's a nightmare. She and cousin Dreya aka Drama continue to clash. No matter how hard Sunday tries to show Dreya she's not the enemy, Dreya insists that Sunday is the enemy. While trying to get her album out, Sunday's first video is being shot and recorded as part of her new reality show. With Dilly still upset with her, Drama and Truth always bickering and Bethany trying to change, Sunday is trying to fix their lives while figuring things out between her and Sam. Will she regret inviting them to the video shoot?
"Doing My Own Thing" by Nikki Carter is book 3 in the Fab Life series. I'm totally in love with this series. I think this book is a step up, as it delves into different aspects of dating. I like how readers get the inside scoop and fans of Nikki Carter's will be enthused with how this story connects some dots. While I enjoyed this story, I felt like we have met characters that really don't have a role leaving much unsaid. I'm definitely ready for the next installment. ...more

Sunday, Dreya aka Drama and Truth are headed for a summer tour. Thanks to BET they are also doing a reality show. This can be just the thing they all need to get them to the next level. Unfortunately, Diva Dreya keeps up confusion, throwing fits and being extra while Truth is feeling a little too good with the groupies. All Sunday wants to do is finish the tour, get paid and get on to college.
With Sam mad at her, Sunday has to figure out how to co-exist for the sake of their careers? When Dilly, an up-and-coming rapper, is brought in to collaborate with Sunday, they seem to have a nice tune. With bad blood brewing between their families, can they keep the drama from destroying them? If the drama wasn't already thick enough with all of that, someone is snitching and plotting and Sunday fears that this is going to end badly. When she has to decide between her family and friends, what's a girl to do?
As usual, Nikki Carter has written a book with real teens, drama and hope. "All The Wrong Moves" is perfectly coordinated. I LOVE the way in which she keeps Sunday desperately trying to do the right things. I'm looking forward to reading "Doing My Own Thing" the next title in the Fab Life series. ...more

"Family" was a pleasure to read. I've had this book on my shelf for far too many years. What I absolutely loved was the way in which Cooper weaved the bloodline. From one woman, readers saw all these different colors and nationalities. Despite what some may believe, we truly are one FAMILY.

What do you get when you combine a failure to appear, Stephanie Plum, a gun and the burg? FOUR TO SCORE by Janet Evanovich.
Like always, Stephanie is faced with bringing in a person who skipped after bail. Seems like a pretty simple case in the beginning. As she starts tracking the bail jumper, she finds herself trapped in a maze of clues, enemies, extortion, shoot outs, missing limbs, drag queens and a baby. Only Stephanie and her family and friends can make crime funny.
FOUR TO SCORE readers have grown accustom to Stephanie Plum’s antics when it comes to recovery. I love her entire family, the community and co-workers, not to mention the relationship Stephanie shares with Rex. Each and every book, I find myself laughing and anxious to see if she’s getting any closer to setting her life on the right path....more

Dr. Angela Morrison agreed to host a women’s meeting in hopes of assisting the women in the church and community to discuss any concerns that they have with men, children and life in general. Angela was skeptical about how genuine the ladies would be in front of others, but she’d wanted to help any woman that she could, as a way of finally helping her own mother, who was a victim of domestic violence.
Anita Harrison, Ernestine Johnson, Toni Brown and Candace Carter have more in common than the other knows. As they listen to the other pour out their reasoning for being there, they can see themselves in their situations. As Angela finds a way to help them work through all of the pain, guilt, tears and secrets, she reveals a new light for each woman to see themselves in. Will Anita, Ernestine, Toni and Candace follow the path to a new life? Or are they destined to remain victims?
What Angela doesn’t realize is that the lives of the attendees force her to deal with deep dark secrets from her past. Is she ready to come out of the dark?
HE BEAT PAST MY SKIN by Jessica Green is an emotional one. This author definitely unleashes a wealth of fear and pain as readers follow through stories dealing with beatings, rapes, hate, vengeance, prostitution, pornography, secrets and lack of self-awareness. It is impossible for the reader not to feel completely immersed in the stories. While I recommend this book and pray that any woman living this reality seeks immediate help, I also warn that this is not an easy book to read.

Sparks fly when Jamal Ford and Catt Cason meet at Telegenic, the company where they both work. Catt is certain that Jamal's looks got him in the door. She is also certain that he'll be spending his time with their boss, Oni, in more than the boardroom. While all of the other women in the office are smitten, Catt is feeling displaced as she's stuck in the lab with him on a day-to-day basis. It's obvious that the two of them are unable to connect, communicate or even agree about the smallest of things. Imagine how distraught they'll both be when they learn that they'll be on the road for three long weeks with one another trying to reintroduce their company to cities all over in time for Christmas. Can they learn to get along?
Overall, CATT CHASIN' by Shana Burton is satisfactory. This story mirrors so many others - a handsome, ladies' man and a cute, chubby woman with a one- sided crush. Eventually, they bond as friends that lead to sharing secrets, with the possibility of a love connection.
I liked the fact that God was introduced as a source of help in the story, and that Catt was able to lead Jamal to his salvation. Afterward, as the two became closer, I failed to see where God's presence remained. Sadly, I was also not pleased as the story became predictable. There were some editing issues with tense and missing words. I really wish that Burton would've taken a different approach instead of the obvious.
