Yowza! I’m an avid Pamela Clare fangirl and her I-Team series is one of the very best in romantic suspense. So what do I think about her venture into writing an “erotic” story? Oh hell yeah!
This is a prequel to Striking Distance detailing the steamy, forbidden weekend Javier and Laura share together. I’m glad I read this first, and now I’m counting down the days until Striking Distance is released.
I also hope Ms. Clare writes more erotic romances in the future!(less)

Killing Sarai was one of my favorite romantic suspense reads of 2013, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting this second installment. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a disappointment for me, mostly because of Sarai/Izabel.
Instead of admiring her transformation from a strong, determined, and brave yet broken and vulnerable victim and survivor to an avenging assassin angel, she just came across as a petulant, childish, demanding, whiny, peevish, bratty, TSTL shrew. Her immature ultimatums for Victor to train her to be a killer or else reminded me of Veruca Salt demanding her golden goose. But I wanna kill bad guys, Victor. No...NOW!!!!
The surprising twist of Victor (view spoiler)[agreeing to have Sarai/Izabel interrogated and tortured as a means of testing her trust and loyalty (hide spoiler)] turned and pissed me the hell off. The justification for it made sense in the context of the story and considering the shadowy, dangerous world they live in...“In the Company of Killers”, but it was still hard to take. Sarai/Izabel might have accepted and forgiven Victor easily, but it really lessened my feelings for the dark, brooding, ruthless, calculating, cold, and brutal killer/assassin antihero.
And Fredrik, (view spoiler)[an interrogator and torture specialist (hide spoiler)], being the hero in the next book? Hmmm...I’m not sure if I can stomach that.
Despite being somewhat letdown, this is still an exciting read that kept me intrigued, so I’m giving it 3 ½ stars. It’s just a bummer because I’d hoped it would be so much better.
This is a thrilling suspense read with an assassin antihero reminiscent of an Anne StuartIce-man.
My favorite quote:
(view spoiler)[She looks defeated. Beautiful and soft and damaged standing there before me partially clothed in the light of the moon beaming through the tall window. Beautiful, but defeated. That look in her eyes, it somehow latches onto my soul and all I want is for her to turn and walk away. Because I know that if she doesn't, if she presses me further with those soft lips and sad, vulnerable eyes that I'll succumb to the moment and either fuck her or kill her.(hide spoiler)]
I can't wait for the next book, Reviving Izabel!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

This is one of the all-time best, most intelligent, and well written paranormal romance series, and Shield of Winter is another fantastic addition. The romance between Vasic and Ivy was so beautiful and moving. I just loved them together! *Swoon*(less)

This really sucked me in and I neglected all kinds of household tasks to finish it in nearly one sitting. It’s a great read with lots of melodrama and angst that makes for an addictive, fast-paced romance. It reminded me of a very well done Harlequin romance. There were some editing errors, and I got confused when the heroine suddenly developed red hair to match her fiery temper when I could have sworn at one point earlier in the book she was described as being a blonde. But those minor missteps didn’t lessen my overall enjoyment, especially considering it was only .99 cents. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more from this author.(less)
