I really enjoyed Stephanie Tyler's Hard to Hold trilogy and love the ACRO series that she co-writes with fellow author Larissa Ione as Sydney Croft, so I was excited about Tyler's new military romantic suspense series. And Lie with Me, the first installment in the Shadow Force series, lived up to my high expectations and then some. It's explosive with fascinating, complex characters, an intriguing, intricate plot, thrilling action and danger, intelligent suspense and espionage, and emotional, passionate love scenes. The romance between main H/h Cam and Sky and secondary couple Dylan and Riley was satisfying and smokin' hot! I loved it and simply couldn't put it down! I can't wait for Zane's and Olivia's story, Promises in the Dark, to come out next month. Big 5 stars!...more
I didn't love this quite as much as The Darkest Hour, the first book in the fantastic Kelly/KGI series, but it's still a gr5 stars – Romantic Suspense
I didn't love this quite as much as The Darkest Hour, the first book in the fantastic Kelly/KGI series, but it's still a great romantic suspense read with lots of emotional twists, pulse pounding action, and erotic love scenes.
Sam is such a sexy, caring alpha hero (and a smokin' hot, attentive lover!), but his mistrust of Sophie frustrated and angered me at times. Although that suspicion certainly ran both ways, and Sophie's stubbornness, dishonesty, and TSTL moments annoyed me, too.
I can't wait for Hidden Away to find out what kind of heroine gets under gruff, stoic Garrett's tough exterior and brings him to his knees. And I really hope Maya Banks writes books for the rest of the Kelly clan, especially Donovan, who's the sweet peacekeeper of the brothers....more
This was my least favorite of the lushly sensual House of Rohan series, mainly because the ruination revenge plot was exha4 stars – Historical Romance
This was my least favorite of the lushly sensual House of Rohan series, mainly because the ruination revenge plot was exhausting and the hero, scarred, depraved Lucien de Malhuer, aka the Scorpion, wasn’t quite reformed or redeemed enough to make up for some truly heinous, unforgivable acts perpetrated against the heroine. I love Stuart’s dark, tortured, gamma heroes, but emotionally empty, borderline evil Scorpion Lucien was a bit too much at times. His feelings towards Miranda Rohan seemed more like a sick, twisted sense of control and power or a kind of morbid, rapt fascination akin to an entomologist with an exotic butterfly pinned and trapped under glass, rather than anything remotely genuine or caring enough to ever be considered love. Lucien’s actions and slightly softened disposition towards the very end made me start to think it was possible that he might actually feel some real affection for Miranda, but the ending was far too abrupt for it to solidify. This really could have used another chapter and/or an epilogue to provide a more believable, satisfying HEA. Still, Breathless is a sexy, enticing read with intriguing characters, great writing, and an engaging secondary romance that I enjoyed almost as much, if not more than, the main couple. So I’m rating it 4 stars....more
WOW! I loved this, especially devilishly charismatic rake, the Marquis of St. Aubyn. Saint is a deliciously debau5+ stars – Historical/Regency Romance
WOW! I loved this, especially devilishly charismatic rake, the Marquis of St. Aubyn. Saint is a deliciously debauched scoundrel who glories in his depraved ways and pursuits, but he meets his match in caring, headstrong Evelyn. She’s determined to save the Heart of Hope Orphanage and teach Saint a lesson in compassion in the process; even if it means engaging him in a provocative battle of wills and indulging in his dangerous game of seduction. But who will be the victor of their passionate “lessons in love”?
St. Aubyn reminded me a lot of Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent from Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas (one of the sexiest, yummiest romantic heroes, ever!), and both heroines have the same informal name, Evie, strong countenances, and kindhearted natures. Hmmm...interesting...But the stories are decidedly different and each have their own charms.
If you enjoy romances with unrepentant rake heroes who just love to be bad and spirited heroines who give as good as they get, then don’t miss this wonderful, engaging read. It’s a keeper! Big 5 stars!
His smooth panther’s stalk was magnetic even when he wasn’t hunting. With an entire room full of willing game, then, why was he after her?
This is my favorite sigh-worthy moment.
(view spoiler)[“I told you that I didn’t have a heart,” he continued as he gazed up at her, his voice shaking just a little. “I do have one. I just didn’t know it until I met you. You are my light. My soul craves you, and I love you with every ounce of the heart you’ve awakened in me. I...I could live without you, but I wouldn’t want to.”(hide spoiler)]
This is my favorite steamy moment.
(view spoiler)[The scene where Evelyn shaved Saint while he was chained up and then finally gave in to his wicked seduction was smokin’ hot! (hide spoiler)]
I loved it! What a fun, sexy battle of wills between a headstrong, passionate, fiery Italian princess who’s the illegitima5 stars – Historical Romance
I loved it! What a fun, sexy battle of wills between a headstrong, passionate, fiery Italian princess who’s the illegitimate daughter of a prince and a courtesan and a stuffy, proper English ambassador charged with using his diplomatic skills to find her a suitable, titled husband to keep her out of trouble. But can upstanding Sir Ian Moore keep his hands of luscious Lucia long enough to play matchmaker?
