Killing Sarai was one of my favorite romantic suspense reads of 2013, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting this second install3 ½ stars – Romantic Suspense
Killing Sarai was one of my favorite romantic suspense reads of 2013, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting this second installment. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a disappointment for me, mostly because of Sarai/Izabel.
Instead of admiring her transformation from a strong, determined, and brave yet broken and vulnerable victim and survivor to an avenging assassin angel, she just came across as a petulant, childish, demanding, whiny, peevish, bratty, TSTL shrew. Her immature ultimatums for Victor to train her to be a killer or else reminded me of Veruca Salt demanding her golden goose. But I wanna kill bad guys, Victor. No...NOW!!!!
The surprising twist of Victor (view spoiler)[agreeing to have Sarai/Izabel interrogated and tortured as a means of testing her trust and loyalty (hide spoiler)] turned and pissed me the hell off. The justification for it made sense in the context of the story and considering the shadowy, dangerous world they live in...“In the Company of Killers”, but it was still hard to take. Sarai/Izabel might have accepted and forgiven Victor easily, but it really lessened my feelings for the dark, brooding, ruthless, calculating, cold, and brutal killer/assassin antihero.
And Fredrik, (view spoiler)[an interrogator and torture specialist (hide spoiler)], being the hero in the next book? Hmmm...I’m not sure if I can stomach that.
Despite being somewhat letdown, this is still an exciting read that kept me intrigued, so I’m giving it 3 ½ stars. It’s just a bummer because I’d hoped it would be so much better.
I was somewhat underwhelmed by the first book in this series, Come Away With Me, but I’m soooo glad5 stars – Contemporary Erotic Romance
I loved this!
I was somewhat underwhelmed by the first book in this series, Come Away With Me, but I’m soooo glad I kept reading because the rest have been some of my favorite reads of this year; not to mention having some of the most memorable, swoonalicious heroes. (Nate McKenna from Fight With Me is one of my all-time favorite husband harem worthy heroes!)
I had high expectations for this one from all the circling and tension that’s built between Caleb and Brynna in past books, and it definitely delivered. Caleb is a hot/cold, growly, sexy alpha SEAL hero with a sensitive, caring, protective nature who’s also vulnerable and tormented by inner demons and PTSD. Brynna is a strong and loyal heroine and she was perfect for him. I loved them together! I also adored Caleb’s relationship with Brynna’s inquisitive, vivacious twin six-year-old girls, Maddie and Josie. There were some very precious and poignant moments between them. And the ending and epilogue was satisfying and brought on some waterworks.
I love the close-knit Montgomery family and all their extended clan. One of the best things about this series is the relationships and interactions between all the characters and how much involvement there is in each book. The sexual teasing and hilarity that often results when the men and women get together provide some of the best and most highly entertaining moments. (The scene I posted below is one such instance.)
I can’t wait for hot, protective cop with a kinky side Matt’s book, Tied With Me, to come out! And I really hope she writes Dom’s story!
I loved this scene when the gang’s all together playing a dirty board game and Caleb is still trying to deny and resist his strong attraction and feelings for Brynna.
I drop my face to my hands and scrub hard.
"I wish I had your boobs," I hear Sam announce and raise my head to see who she's talking to. Of course, she's talking to Bryn.
"Right," she smirks and takes another bite of brownie.
"Dude, I do!" And just like that, Sam saunters across the room and cups Brynna's tit in her palm. "See? You have the perfect boobs. Stace, have you felt her boobs?"
Just kill me. Put a bullet in my head and end the agony.
"Oh yeah," Stacy waves her off. "She has great tits."
She has amazing tits.
"I wanna feel!" Jules bounces over and joins in.
"Give me more chocolate and you can touch all you want." Brynna laughs and then glances over at me. "This is the most action I've had in months."
"Motherfuckingsonofawhore." I grumble.
"Is Brynna single?" Mark asks Will.
"Keep your fucking hands off her," I growl at him before I know what's coming out of my mouth.
"Hey," he holds his hands up in surrender and laughs. "It was just an innocent question."

There’s been insta-love in this series before that worked for me, but this time around it felt ridiculously fast and just too unbelievable. The story dragged and seemed repetitive at times and the suspense aspect was minimal. There are some moving, sentimental moments with lots of Kelly clan closeness, including the great epilogue, and I came close to tearing up at one point. But I felt like there was too much filler and that it could have been a novella.
I’m a big fan of this author, and I’ve enjoyed all of her previous books. I loved the idea of this book, but unfortunat3-3 ½ stars – Historical Romance
I’m a big fan of this author, and I’ve enjoyed all of her previous books. I loved the idea of this book, but unfortunately, it just didn’t quite deliver on the immense potential of such an intriguing, original twist and premise. There was way too much H/h inner monologue and time spent deliberating and lamenting over secrets...her secrets...his secrets...their secrets...it was exasperating, overly dramatic, and repetitive. The self-imposed denial, longing, sadness, and suffering by both the H/h seemed pointless and extreme, and the story dragged at times. Then when things actually, finally, progressed and picked up momentum, all the prior issues and drama wrapped up too quickly, easily, and neatly with a somewhat abrupt, dissatisfying ending.
Overall, I liked this, but it was still a disappointment for me, especially considering my high expectations. Luckily, I listened to the audiobook version and the fantastic narrator enhanced my enjoyment of the story....more

I loved this book! It’s so frigging fun and refreshingly different with lots of witty, snarktastic humor. Yes, Drew Evans is an egotistical manslut, but he’s also hilarious and highly entertaining. I enjoyed being inside his cocky head for a few hours. (Double entendre, anyone?)
I was originally going to rate this 4 ½ stars because I wanted an epilogue, but Emma Chase posted a couple of extra scenes on her website, including an amusing glimpse into Kate and Drew’s life together, so 5 satisfied stars! Brava, Ms. Chase!...more

Awaken is a beautiful, passionate, evocative, utterly romantic, and brilliantly written conclusion to Dean and Liv’s saga. I loved their soulful journey. I had some issues with Dean in the first two books, but he made me sigh and swoon blissfully in this. 5 satisfied, seductive stars for the entire trilogy!...more

I guess I’m in the minority, but this didn’t work for me...at all. The heroine’s immaturity and inner dialogue really annoyed me, especially in the beginning, and I almost DNF’d it. Eventually the story picked up a bit and held my interest more, but the heroine continually irritated me and Remy didn’t wow me either. I also felt like his (view spoiler)[bipolar disorder (hide spoiler)] was sensationalized and not portrayed well. Overall this was just an okay/average read. I’m a devoted J.R. Ward fan, and I looovedCovet. But I have to be honest; my enthusiasm for this series has somewhat dwindled.
I think it’s partly because of the yearlong gap in releases and that I read so many books in between. I just can’t keep everything straight with all the Devina/Jim/Sissy/Adrian and battle for souls drama that seems to get more confusing with each book. And I also feel like way too much time is spent on Devina and all her OCD and idiosyncrasies, not to mention her and Jim’s depraved, hateful, twisted, vengeful use of (view spoiler)[sex (hide spoiler)] as a weapon in their good versus evil war with each other.
I loved Duke! He was a seriously yummy, growly, broody, tortured alpha hero. I devoured every scene he was in, but I wish he’d been given additional page time. The relationship between him and Cait was much more satisfying than the romance storyline in Rapture. And their sex scenes were yowza hot! But I was still left wanting extra Duke, further time spent on the romance, and a more satisfying, detailed HEA.
Although my interest in the series has slightly diminished, I’m curious how the battle will play out and who wins the war and hopeful of a HEA for Jim, so I’ll still read on to find out.
I was only going to give 3 GR stars for my rating, but I loved Duke and his steamy romance with Cait so much that I added another star and bumped my rating to 3.5 stars. This probably would’ve been just a 2 star read for me if it wasn’t for Duke.
Wowza! Oh boy, but I enjoyed this tasty confection! Edible definitely lives up to its name! Cole is one of the5 stars – Contemporary Erotic Romance
Wowza! Oh boy, but I enjoyed this tasty confection! Edible definitely lives up to its name! Cole is one of the most decadently yummy, suit-wearing, commanding, dirty talking alpha heroes in Romancelandia. The sex scenes are panty scorching hot, and I loved the touching epilogue. My only complaint is that it left me with a severe, unsatisfied, craving for some caramel sauce! 5 scrumptious stars!
