This is really more like a 3 ½ star read, but I rounded up because I enjoyed the smokin’ hot, yummy morsel Just One Taste, the prequel to Dahl's Donovan Brothers Brewery series and by far my favorite of this anthology, so darn much!

Oh poor, poor Keely. You married a doting, sexy-as-sin stud who wants to romance you off your feet by whisking you to the exotic island of Tahiti to give you the perfect, memorable wedding night of your life and two weeks of pampered honeymoon bliss, including a secluded villa on your very own private beach, and you’re too much of a horny spoiled b*tch to appreciate it?!?! Jack, please drop Bratty Keely back at the airport, and I’ll be your devoted island love slave whom you can romance, wine, dine, and beach sixty-nine to your heart’s content! *naughty grin*
Okay seriously, I really like Jack and Keely together, but I thought it was ridiculous that she acted like such a snitty, ungrateful nympho about Jack wanting to wait until they’d reached their island honeymoon destination to have sex for the first time as a married couple so he could give her an unforgettable, romantic wedding night. I was also disappointed that we weren’t given any steamy details of their night together after so much tension and buildup. Still, it’s a cute, entertaining read, and I love me some Rough Riders.(less)

The best compliment I can give this is to say that it was the perfect cure for my utterly craptastic, stressful week. There are tons of highly anticipated new releases out that I’m itching to read, but I’ve felt so drained lately and really just needed something light and fun that wouldn’t require a lot of thought or energy on my part. (Very lazy of me, I know.)
This is a charming, perky, feel-good romance with endearing characters that totally hit the spot and went down smooth, sweet, and easy like a nice glass of Riesling. Yes it’s fluffy, fanciful, and even a tad bit silly, but it was the ideal antidote for my humdrum, crummy mood. I would have preferred a lot more heat; nevertheless, it still left a satisfied smile on my face.
For optimum enjoyment, I suggest pairing this with a chilled bottle of white wine, and my personal recommendation would be a refreshingly light, sweet Riesling. :)(less)

I’m slightly apprehensive about reviewing this because I know The Surrender of a Lady probably won’t work for many traditional romance readers, but this represents how I feel about it, so just take from this what you will.
Solely as a romance, I didn’t love it, mainly because there isn’t much “romance” expressed between the H/h, but instead reminiscence of their past, youthful courtship and lost love, explosive desire, mutual longing, emotional conflict, sexual power struggles, and dark obsession. But as a saga of the heroine’s suffering and sexual journey, discovery, and transformation from proper English lady Elena to prized Harem courtesan Jinan as means for survival and sacrifice, it’s compelling, daring, emotive, provocative, sensual, moving, and completely captivating.
I loved the exotic setting, unique story, beautiful writing, quick pacing, and intriguing characters. My only real complaint is that the hero, Griffin, Marquess of Rothburn, was an utter ass, and his actions were selfish, brutish, obsessive, domineering, and hypocritical. I think if there had been deeper romantic development between Elena/Jinan and Griffin or further details of their past relationship, I would have better understood his compulsion and found their erotic passion, intrinsic connection, and intense yearning a bit more believable. The ending is rather abrupt, but thankfully the epilogue provided a satisfying HEA.

I probably would have enjoyed this even better had it been an exotically sexy, mocha-skinned male stripper instead of a woman since I prefer m/m lovin' and m/m/f or m/f/m ménage over f/f and m/f/f action, but it's still a fun, smokin' hot erotic story, especially for a 10 page quickie, free read!
But how come nothing nearly that fun, sexy, or exciting happened to my hubby and I when we were in Vegas?! Oh well, maybe next time. Although, I'll wish for a hot stud to participate in our third party fantasy. *naughty grin*(less)

Carr’s Virgin River is one of my favorite contemporary romance series that never fails to deliver intensely emotional, deeply heartfelt, achingly romantic stories. Promise Canyon didn’t quite meet my high expectations and is my least favorite book in the series, but I still enjoyed it. Even though it’s not the finest Virgin River installment, there is no denying that Robyn Carr’s writing is among the very best in the genre.
Clay Tahoma is looking for a fresh start away from his ex-wife and her elitist family’s horse farm in Los Angeles. When his friend Nate needs a veterinary assistant for his practice and horse ranch in a small community in Northern California, it seems the perfect opportunity for a much needed change of pace. It also brings Clay closer to his sister’s family and son living in a nearby town, allows him to use his skills as a “horse whisperer”, and the remoteness, serene beauty, and quaint charm of Virgin River appeal to Clay’s Navajo roots. After being burned by love twice in the past, he never expected to find a woman that would tempt him to take a chance again on a romantic relationship, but Lilly Yazhi, the local feed store owner’s daughter and delivery driver does just that.
Lilly is a fiercely independent, modern woman who often finds herself at odds with her family’s native Hopi roots and traditions. After being deeply hurt in the past, she’s become guarded and has vowed to never let an alpha, Native American man capture her heart again. She feels an immediate, intense attraction to Clay, but she refuses to act on it. If only he wasn’t so darn sexy and tempting with such strong muscles, beautiful bronze skin, and exotic, long, silky hair! How can any woman resist that? When Lilly begins to realize that Clay is thoughtful, respectful, a devoted, caring father, and different from other men she’s known and that they share a love for and unusual gift with horses, it becomes even harder to deny her growing attraction and feelings. Can Clay convince Lilly to open her heart and take a chance on love? And will the reappearance of Clay’s manipulative, emotionally needy ex-wife shatter Lilly’s tentative trust in their relationship?
Clay and Lilly are wonderful characters, and I really liked them together. There just wasn’t quite enough romantic development or emphasis on their relationship. It seemed like things progressed rather erratically and rapidly from mutual attraction and her being resistant to dating Clay (or any man for that matter) to them being involved romantically. But I think their relationship is believable, considering it resulted from strong physical attraction, explosive sexual chemistry, and the friendship and connection they forged while working together to heal a couple of wounded horses. I just wish there had been a bit more of it because their moments together were passionate, beautiful, and tender.
The overall story was somewhat disjointed at times and the deep sense of community that was so prevalent and powerful in previous installments felt a bit lacking, but there were a few side storylines to keep the association with the town happenings in Virgin River. The death of an important local resident and a mysterious newcomer make an impact on bar owner and town leader Jack Sheridan (my favorite Virgin River hero), and a tragic accident involving one of the Riordan brothers provides the background for the next book, Wild Man Creek, which I’m really looking forward to because I love the sexy Riordan men!
Although Promise Canyon isn’t my favorite Virgin River installment, it’s still a great read in a wonderful series that exemplifies the charm and strong sense of community in small town life, and the romance between Clay and Lilly is sweet, touching, and oh so satisfying. It’s worthy of solid 4 stars!

The Kowalski family is a kooky, fun bunch who take camping and ATVing to the extreme while also dealing with realistic marital struggles, kid stress, and a blast from the past. This is a fun, light contemporary romance that had me seriously cracking up at times. I just wish there had been a bit more romance between Joe and Keri and that the heat level had been turned up a few degrees. (less)

This was an enjoyable read, but it’s not a series favorite for me. Evan and Kendall were hot together, and their romance was both steamy and touching. But something about their relationship also felt a bit immature and like overeager, anxious, reunited teenagers in love. I felt like they each had some growing up to do and together as a couple.
I loved Evan! He was so unbelievably sexy, sweet, and understanding that at times he seemed almost too good to be true. I understood Kendall’s insecurities with trying to gain her place, recognition, and success in the male-dominated, competitive world of stock car racing, and there were times that I wanted to both hug and shake her. Evan was so supportive, affectionate, and tender with Kendall, even when he showed his goofy side. They seemed to bring out the best in each other, and I was glad when Kendall finally realized how well Evan understood, accepted, and respected her as both a sexy, desirable woman and a top-notch, capable driver.
I was really rooting for their developing, strengthening relationship, and the big, shocking twist out of left track that tested their commitment really pissed me off. The ending felt rushed, and I didn’t like how the major issue was glossed over and left relatively unresolved. I’m hoping we’ll see more of Evan and Kendall together in the next Fast Track story, Slow Ride, which has me intrigued and excited after reading the enticing excerpt at the end of this.
So although it’s not my favorite book in the series, The Chase is still an entertaining, smokin’ hot contemporary sports romance with a sexy, sweet hero, a genuine heroine, funny and touching moments, and steamy love scenes. 4 stars!

The Darkest Fire is an okay LOTU prequel story, but I didn’t really gain any further insights into the series and it’s just a bit too short. 3 stars.
The Darkest Prison is a pretty good LOTU ‘enemies to lovers’ story that I enjoyed. 4 stars.
The Darkest Angel is Lords of the Underworld story #4.5 that takes place between The Darkest Whisper and The Darkest Passion and tells the tale of innocent, pure-hearted warrior angel Lysander, a demon assassin, who finds himself led into temptation by naughty, fun-loving, bad girl Harpy Bianka. It’s only a 140 pages long, but it’s a smokin’ HOT story with lots of laughs and a sweet HEA. It’s worth reading for the hilarious and sexy Lysander versus Paris loincloth, oil wrestling match...trust me! “So. Much. Fun.” 5 stars!(less)

Sexy, bad-boy biker Caleb is intrigued when his sweet, librarian neighbor makes him a tantalizing proposition that he can’t refuse. She’s tired of being a virgin and waiting around for Mr. Right when what she really wants is a weekend of no-holds-barred, passionate sex with a hunky stud who knows how to satisfy and please a woman. When she offers to submit to all of Caleb’s kinky bedroom demands in exchange for him taking her virginity and teaching her all he knows about sex, it seems too good to be true. And neither of them expected their wild weekend together to turn into something deep and lasting. This was a fun, sweet, sexy, steamy story with a hot-as-sin bad-ass biker hero who rules supreme in the bedroom and a spunky heroine who conquers his bad-boy heart. 4 stars.
