An Offer From a Gentleman might be a Cinderella-like story, but it’s much more than just a fairytale remake. For me, this is the epitome of everything I love about romance and happily ever after.
There’s a charming, yet flawed hero, a sweet heroine with profound inner strength and resolve who overcomes all odds, powerful emotional conflict, realistic drama, lush sensuality, intense passion, and witty humor. Benedict and Sophie and the supporting cast are all remarkable, lovable characters to cheer for. I loved when the dowager viscountess, Violet Bridgerton, brought the whoopass against Araminta!
It made me sad, sigh, smile, cry, laugh, hope, and it’s a beautifully romantic, touching reminder of the wonder and power of love. And it’s my favorite of the Bridgertons series, so far. 5 Big, sweet fairytale stars!
I loved this Benedict quote:
It suddenly made sense. Only twice in his life had he felt this inexplicable, almost mystical attraction to a woman. He’d thought it remarkable, to have found two, when in his heart he’d always believed there was only one perfect woman out there for him.

If I’m ever stuck on a deserted island or in a remote, isolated castle somewhere, my three survival fantasy essentials would be Bones, Spade, and a Twister Board Game ‘cause I think the possibilities would be endless...certainly enough to last for a wicked eternity. *Bones and Spade high-pitched fan girl squeal and naughty grin!*
This is a devilishly sexy, witty, fun, and smokin’ hot addition to the awesome Night Huntress series, and I loved it, loved it, loved it!! Bones is still my top #1 darling bad boy vamp, but Spade is a verrry close second place!
Here are some of my favorite funny lines/scenes (beware possible spoilers ahead).
Denise on Spade’s appeal: “Put Spade in a Calvin Klein ad and women would be tempted to lick the page.”
Spade teasing Denise about her aversion to his eating habits: “You’ll be pleased to know you slept through my breakfast.” “You eat the room service employees every time?” Denise asked shocked. “Of course. But don’t fret on their behalf. I always tip well.”
Spade jesting about Denise’s silly attempt to keep him at bay using garlic: “And while I’ll confess it was fun watching you choke yourself on garlic the past few days, you need have no fear of me biting you. As for things going further than kissing, you need not fret about that, either,” he went on, raking her with a gaze. “I don’t lack for bed partners, so I don’t need to scrounge for unwilling scraps.”
Denise’s response to Spade on whether she’s okay after freaking out in the middle of a vampire party: “About three miles from Crazytown with my foot on the pedal, I’d say.”
Spade internally berating himself on his attraction to Denise: “Fool, he lashed himself. He wasn’t doing this out of pity, obligation, or honor, as Denise might believe. No, he’d just recommitted to helping her for the staggeringly witless reason of not wanting to let her go yet. Even now, her scent and nearness tantalized his senses. It was the height of stupidity to be tempted by a woman he could neither bite nor shag. Perhaps for his next brilliant notion, he’d take up shaving with a chain saw.”
Denise commenting on Ian’s attire at a goth club: “You look like a Dracula porn movie reject,” she managed. Spade laughed, but Ian winced. “Let’s not speak of him. Like the devil, Vlad might appear if we do.”
Bones reacting to his best mate Spade’s feelings about Denise: “Lucifer’s bouncing balls, that’s why you’re acting like a nutter! You’ve gone and fallen in love with her. Bloody hell, if I didn’t see it on your face for myself, I wouldn’t believe it.”
Denise and Spade having a little lover’s quarrel: “What the devil? Oh, good one, Spade. Har har! Well, it’s nothing you need to worry about anymore, is it? Thanks for your time. All your time, but really, the farewell fuck was unnecessary. A vibrator can last all night, too, vampire.”
Spade cooing to Denise (in cat form) to try and have her shift back: “Denise,” he said low. “If you can hear me, I very much need you to come back. Don’t resign me to the fate of being one of those crusty old vampires who only live with their pets.” I’m talking to a bloomin’ kitty, it occurred to him. He might as well dig a hole and cover himself up with his grave dirt now. “Come now, darling, I can think of far better ways to spend time in bed with you than this,” he continued in a low voice. “You make a right fetching feline, but really, there are limits to the things I’m willing to try.”

If I was to rate this simply for the heat factor and frequent and explicit sex scenes, then it would earn a solid, high five stars because it’s off the charts hot and intensely erotic. Unfortunately, other aspects of the book weren’t as strong or compelling, which is disappointing because it had the promise and makings of a really intriguing and gripping erotic romantic suspense read, and I wanted to love it. After reading Full Exposure, I had very high expectations for this. Although I enjoyed the powerful eroticism and it delivered in spades on that front, I had some issues with other parts of the story, mainly the lack of character development and a few rather gaping plot holes.
Genevieve Delacroix, the only female detective on the New Orleans homicide squad, is investigating a sadistic serial rapist/killer. She meets mysterious, dominating Cole Adams, who harbors secrets related to the case, and they share an immediate, explosive attraction that threatens to shatter her tightly held control. When they engage in a volatile, obsessive affair and risk exposure, will Genevieve become the killer’s next target?
The suspense plot has some twists and surprises and reaches a thrilling climax, but it’s not the main focus because quite frankly, the attention grabber in this story is the ‘have an ice tray handy’ hot, kinky BDSM sex that Genevieve and Cole share. There’s a wildly erotic kitchen interlude using tequila and a creative, kinky bedroom scene involving Japanese rope bondage/binding that intrigued me enough to do some extraneous Google research.
Overall, it’s a scorching hot, extremely sensual, and wickedly erotic read with chilling suspense. I just wish that I’d felt more of a connection between the characters, but they definitely set the sheets (I mean ropes) on fire! 4 stars! (less)

I’m a huge fan of Pamela Clare’s I-Team romantic suspense series, I love hot highlander heroes, I’m fascinated by pre-Revolutionary American history, and I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about Surrender from several GR friends. So why did I wait so long to read this?!?! I had no doubt that I’d love it, but I had a feeling it would be emotionally draining, so I waited until I was in the right mood and mindset. But now I’m kicking myself for taking so long because it’s one of the best, most beautifully moving historical romances that I’ve read.
This definitely stirred and twisted my emotions, but I was pleasantly surprised that it also left me filled with a sense of hope and crying happy tears, which is always a good thing. The heart and soul of the story is the incredibly pure, sensual, touching, erotic, loving, uplifting, and heartrending relationship between Iain MacKinnon, a Scottish highland warrior turned ranger for the British, and Annie, a former noble lady transformed into a brave frontier woman fighting for survival. Their romance is absolute magic for the soul.
I think Iain stands for “I adore Iain nonsensically” because he’s one of the sexiest, most honorable, courageous, loyal, protective, caring, strong, nurturing, and patient heroes ever, and he was such an eager, flirtatious, passionate, and giving lover to Annie. His longing and need for a happy, healthy, and safe life filled with a wife, home, hearth, and bairns away from the violence of war was achingly poignant, and something about Annie makes him yearn and vow desperately to turn that impossible dream into reality.
I empathized with Annie’s suffering, but her lack of faith and trust in Iain, although understandable, bothered me a little. I just kept wondering...What the heck does the poor man have to do to earn her confidence already? But once Annie started listening to her instincts and heart and began falling for Iain, I found myself really liking her as a heroine, and I admired her compassionate nature and courageous spirit.
There were so many beautiful, memorable, sigh-worthy, and tear-inducing moments between them. And the love scenes? HOLY smokes! I don’t know how they managed not to set the cabin on fire. I loved when Iain went all alpha, lost his control, and finally took Annie’s virginity in a dominating, possessive way because he was angry with her thinking that she’d slept with Wentworth, not realizing that she was almost raped by a redcoat soldier. But my favorite love scene was the part where Iain gets turned on while Annie was giving him a routine morning shave and turned the erotic razor on her and shaved her bare. It was fan yourself, need some ice water HOT!
Bikini wax...Brazilian? French? NO way! I want the Iain MacKinnon erotic shave special, please! Seriously ladies...Can you imagine a hot highland hunk who’s handy with a blade like Iain shaving you bare and then pleasuring you endlessly afterward?! Y-O-W-Z-A!!
But the story takes place in the midst of war, and so there are some violent and sad parts as well. The scene where Iain is brutally flogged in front of the entire fort was complete agony to read. I bawled my eyes out right along with Annie.
I cried big fat happy tears though towards the end when Iain witnesses the hope and wonder of new life when Annie gives birth to their son. Then I shed a bunch more when Iain’s brothers and Rangers honor him, Annie, and their child in the most thoughtful, touching way, by giving them a helpful, bountiful start to their new life journey together.
Surrender is a wondrous, heartfelt, passionate love story that warms the heart and stays with you long after it’s over. It simply shouldn’t be missed! I’m looking forward to reading Morgan’s story Untamed, and I’m so glad that Pamela Clare has found a publisher for Connor’s story. I can’t wait! 5 big stars for sigh-worthy and swoonalicious Iain because for him, I’d gladly “Surrender” anytime!
I haven’t found my right, exact match for Iain yet, but in the interim, he might do quite nicely.
(And FYI ladies...Apparently, if you search for “scottish hunks” in Google Images, you’ll see lots of naked men proudly offering their cocks. Hmmm...I’m not sure what the correlation is there. I might need to investigate the matter further. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.)

“Her chances of a decent marriage were about to be dashed-and all because of a ferret.” And thus begins the wonderfully romantic third installment in the saga of the eccentric Hathaway family, Tempt Me At Twilight.
Poppy Hathaway loves her quirky family, but she yearns for a conventional, quiet, normal, stable, peaceful, predictable, albeit boring, life. She believes wholeheartedly that she’s found her true soul’s desire in her beloved Michael Bayning, who’s courted her in private but has so far withheld a proposal due to concerns over his father’s likely disapproval over the match. When fate (in the form of a wily, on the loose ferret named Dodger) results in a clandestine meeting with mysterious, wealthy, powerful, reclusive, hotelier Harry Rutledge, Poppy’s future is forever altered.
Harry, owner of London’s most famous Rutledge Hotel, lives a rather solitary existence and never expects or desires to fall in love, but he’s immediately enamored and infatuated by lovely, intelligent, spirited Poppy and sets out to win her for himself. Poppy’s heart and devotion belong to Michael, but she still can’t help but be a bit intrigued and flattered by the enigmatic and dynamic Harry, especially with his persistent courtship and shocking proposal.
When Poppy finds herself heartbroken and her reputation and future security at risk, she accepts Harry’s marriage proposal, but then painful secrets are revealed that shatter her trust and wound her aching heart even further. What does a woman do when she finds herself married to the villain?
Kleypas is a master at turning tortured, cold, manipulative, cynical, ruthless men (even near villains) into the most sigh-delicious, swoon-worthy heroes in romance. Harry reminded me a little of Simon Hunt from Secrets of a Summer Night, only with a strong dose of Devil in Winter St. Vincent’s ruthlessness and vindictiveness thrown in. And sweet, caring, smart, bighearted, exuberant Poppy was the perfect compliment and match for cold-hearted, jaded, intrinsically lonely Harry...I just loved them together!
Although I enjoyed Mine Till Midnight, mainly for dreamy, yummy Cam Rohan, and loved Kev’s and Win’s achingly beautiful romance in Seduce Me at Sunrise, Tempt Me At Twilight, with its compelling, unforgettable story, beguiling, complex characters, strong depth of touching emotion, and lush sensuality that’s all blended together brilliantly, is vintage Kleypas and my favorite of the Hathaways series so far. It’s a splendid, moving, heartfelt, and utterly romantic read that’s completely riveting from beginning to end and just sheer historical romance perfection. Big 5 stars!
“I’ll never be sorry about it. Because if I hadn’t done it, you’d be his now. And he only wanted you if it was easy for him. But I want you any way I can get you. Not because you’re beautiful or clever or kind or adorable, although devil knows you’re all those things. I want you because there’s no one else like you, and I don’t ever want to start a day without seeing you.”
“Do you know what a balance wheel is?” She shook her head slightly. “There’s one in every clock or watch. It rotates back and forth without stopping. It’s what makes the ticking sound...what makes the hands move forward to mark the minutes. Without it, the watch wouldn’t work. You’re my balance wheel, Poppy.”
“I have so much love for you, I could fill rooms with it. Buildings. You’re surrounded by it wherever you go, you walk through it, breathe it...it’s in your lungs, and under your tongue, and between your fingers and toes...” His mouth moved passionately over hers, urging her lips apart. It was a kiss to level mountains and shake stars from the sky. It was a kiss to make angels faint and demons weep...a passionate, demanding, soul-searing kiss that nearly knocked the earth off its axis. Or at least that was how Poppy felt about it.

Buckling Down by Moira Keith is just..."okay". The story was fairly brief with a somewhat choppy pace, the heat factor was much milder than I thought (and hoped) it would be with only one very short sex scene, and the writing seemed a bit amateurish. It just didn't seem like it fit within an erotic anthology, especially one that features an author as strong as Lorelei James. 2 stars.
Strong, Silent Type by Lorelei James is a smokin' hot, touching story of a husband who takes desperate measures to save his marriage before it's too late...by demanding a no holds barred weekend of raw, raunchy, uninhibited sex and emotional reconnection from his estranged wife. This is another emotional, erotic punch from Lorelei James that demonstrates why she's one of the very best in the genre. 5 stars!
The Real Deal by Niki Green is a hot, fun, quickie read about a sexy, demanding alpha cowboy who finds his former fiancée, who left him suddenly and without explanation three years before, working in an erotic burlesque show and isn't letting her get away from him this time around. 3 ½ stars.

Anyone who's read my review for Playing with Fire knows how much I loved it, especially heroine Belle's sarcastic humor and the sexy romance between her and uber yummalicious agent/assassin Rome.
So I was totally ooh goody, goody gum drops for more Belle and Rome in Twice as Hot; but there's trouble in paradise for the engaged lovers, and it ended up being an emotional roller coaster to get to their HEA. Luckily, there's plenty of fun, action, hot sexual tension, and snarky humor to entertain along the way.
I was gaga for Rome in Playing with Fire, but he acted like a real jerk for much of this. But Belle's not a simpering damsel in distress, so she refused to play the jilted, wilted flower and never gave up on them as a couple.
There were a lot of funny moments, but I think the scene with Belle and her sidekick Tanner discussing possible superhero names for newly acquired, and formerly badgal, agent Elaine, aka Draino, was one of my favorites.
"Oh, and guess what? I've renamed her Super Absorber," Tanner said. I tried not to cringe. "You realize that name makes her sound like a tampon, right?"
So although I didn't enjoy Twice as Hot as much as Playing with Fire, it's still a superfun, supersexy, and highly entertaining read. 4 ½-5 stars!

Lorelei James can do no wrong with the Rough Riders series. Seriously, every book gets big 5 stars and I think they can't possibly get any better. But then much to my heart's content, she proves me wrong. Branded As Trouble is another winner and the sweetest romance in the series so far. I loved everything about it: the great writing, the likable characters, the real life drama, the strong, emotional connection between the H/H, and especially the scorching H-O-T eroticism! Another big 5 stars! Ms. James, my hat's off to you, once again!(less)

Wicked Ties is one of my all-time favorite erotic reads, and I loved Decadent as well, so I was really looking forward to Luc’s story in Delicious. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations, mostly because both Luc and Alyssa (and some side characters too) made me so violently furious at times that I wanted to get my head smack on or throw the book across the room.
A couple of alternate titles for this could be: “A Chef, a Stripper, and a Baby” or “The Arrogant Dick, the Wishy-Washy Doormat, the Creepy Bouncer, and Baby Makes Four”.
The list of people I wanted to slap in this book was a mile long.
Luc, with his condemnatory, snobbish ‘strippers are all unfeeling, uneducated whores only good for hardcore f**cking’ and ‘I have to marry someone who’s pure as snow and goes to Bible study regularly, even if I’m not attracted to them, in order to be a father’ crap was just ridiculous.
Alyssa was a strong, smart, independent, confident woman in so many ways, but at the same time, her relentless pursuit of Luc, a man who so clearly judged and treated her like a whore, was pathetic.
And then you have possessive, clingy bouncer/bodyguard Tyler who sticks to Alyssa like a persistent, annoying rash constantly causing trouble for Luc and Alyssa. Argh!
Oh yeah, and some creepy stalker and baby drama thrown in, too. I swear, was there anyone not stalking Alyssa in this book?!?!
But Shayla Black is a great writer and can pen some seriously scorching hot, ‘delicious’ly erotic love scenes, which is why I still rated this 4 stars, despite the fact that the H/H made me crazy with frustration. I’m really looking forward to cold, dark, and mysterious Hunter’s (who was just about the only character in this that I didn’t want to smack) story in Surrender to Me.

I've been in love with Micah ever since Sweet Surrender, and I'd imagined that his story would probably be the darkest of the series. Well, Micah really showed his tortured, brooding, cold side in this, and it definitely has some heavy and hardcore content. And in fact, there were times that Micah made Damon from Sweet Persuasion seem like a total pussycat. Despite a few moments here and there that stretched my comfort zone just a bit, especially during the 30+ page fivesome scene, I found it completely riveting, beautifully written, and seriously H-A-W-T! And it made me realize how much I love this entire series and wonder why I didn't rate them all 5 stars?!

This is my fifth read by Beth Kery and she continually delivers when it comes to ‘must have a fan handy, bust the thermostat hotness’. She packed an emotional, erotic punch with Wicked Burn, showed true originality and genius with Daring Time, and took risks with dark, kinky Sweet Restraint, but Paradise Rules was a bit of a disappointment, mainly because I really disliked the characters. I’m glad to say that for the most part, Kery seems to be back on track (at least for me) with her latest erotic romantic suspense novel, Release.
Chicago fashion designer and boutique owner Genevieve “Genny” Bujold and her ex-CIA turned security specialist husband, Max Sauren, engaged in an illicit ménage on New Year’s Eve with Max’s business partner, ex-Army officer Sean Kennedy, three years ago that led to disastrous consequences, including a devastating end to Genny and Sean’s would-be love affair and a shocking murder. When a series of strange events and a Chicago blizzard bring Sean and Genny back together, can Sean win Genny’s submission and heart, even though secrets and lies from the past threaten to tear them apart once again?
Release has steamy sex, raw, powerful emotion, an intriguing murder mystery plot, and an ex-military alpha hero with a major dominant streak in the bedroom who makes a yummy-as-sin hero, despite the fact that he seriously overuses the endearment “girl” for the 30-year-old heroine, even though it’s delivered in a sexy New Orleans drawl, to the point of annoyance and distraction at times. Once again, Kery turns up the heat and conveys intense eroticism with a book that’s full of scorching hot sensuality and mildly kinky BDSM sex, including bondage, spanking with a flogger/crop, anal sex, a flashback M/F/M ménage sequence, and of course dirty talk by the hero, who seems to have a proclivity for giving detailed instructions of precisely what he wants.
Overall, it’s a satisfying erotic romantic suspense read with lots of twists and surprises, a hunkalicious, Dom hero, and wicked, turn down the AC hot sex! 4 ½ stars!

I knew going into this that readers tend to have a love or hate reaction to this book and that many consider Rome to be a jackass. I didn’t really love or hate it, and yes, Rome definitely acted like a Grade A asshat for most of the book. What especially turned me off about his character was that he admitted (view spoiler)[lusting after his deceased wife’s best friend, Sarah, from the beginning, and even got a hard-on for her at his freaking wedding. WTF? What kind of man fantasizes about shagging his best friend’s wife at his f*ng wedding?!?! And if he was so damn attracted to Sarah from the start when they first worked together, before he met his wife, why didn’t he ever act on it? It makes no sense that Rome never asked Sarah out, especially considering that he’s the kind of man who goes after what he wants ruthlessly and doesn’t take no for an answer. And the fact that she was attracted to him in return and in love with him just makes it harder to understand why he never took action and that it took so damn long for them to get together. (hide spoiler)]
But what annoyed me most about this book was how much of a spineless doormat Sarah was. I understand that he’s grief-stricken, but damn her internalizing everything and being satisfied with scraps was irritating. (view spoiler)[And the way she was so easily accepting of him having nothing to do with her pregnancy or their baby was pathetic. (hide spoiler)] I just found her self-sacrificing behavior annoying rather than admirable.

I was fairly disappointed with this one. The hero’s declaration of instant love (ahhh...I think it’s called lust) and then demanding total submission was borderline creepy and the annoying, whiny, wishy-washy heroine’s constant back and forth between “oh yes...give me more of those earthquaking, soulshaking orgasms, even though they make me bawl like a baby afterward ‘cause I’m scared that I revealed what a total hussy I am” and snapping her fingers and busting out the “you don’t own me” speech gave me whiplash.
I’m a fan of BDSM erotic romance and D/s relationships can be very hot when it fits the characters, but I just didn’t really care much for Hunter and Kata together. And don’t even get me started on the assassin suspense subplot because it was rather ridiculous.
Wicked Ties is one of my all-time favorite BDSM/erotic romances and Decadent is one of my favorite ménage erotic romances, but Delicious and especially this didn’t quite live up to my high expectations. I hope things get back on track for this series with Logan’s story Belong To Me.

Silk Scarves and Seduction This is a sequel of sorts to Whipped Cream and Handcuffs about Tessa’s best friend Valery “Blush” Taylor and Caleb’s best friend Dr. Marc Ford, who have acted like sworn enemies since high school, even though they have both secretly lusted after and loved the other for years. Caleb’s successful seduction of Tessa gives Blush a wicked idea of how to tease Marc, by sending mysterious packages with erotic photography of her and sexy silk scarves. But how will she respond when her plan for anonymity is foiled and Marc shows up, with her silk scarf in hand, intent on seducing her? This is another smokin’ hot story, and Marc is just flat-out too delish to be true. I mean seriously, a sweet pediatrician with Matthew McConaughey good looks, who’s also a master in the bedroom...y-u-m-m-y!
I just can’t say enough about this wickedly hot anthology...loved it, loved it, loved it! All three stories are sheer erotic perfection with dreamy, sexy heroes.
