I’m a huge Night Huntress series fan, especially when it comes to my main luv Bones, and I loved yummy Spade’s story First Drop of Crimson. But I’ll admit that in the previous books, although I found Mencheres intriguing for sure, I didn’t really envision him as a leading romantic hero, mainly because I always pictured him in a sort of androgynous way. With his long hair, elegant, regal composure, aloof disposition, and eerie, massive powers, I’d previously imagined Ra in the movie Stargate, as portrayed by actor Jaye Davidson, for some reason.
But now after reading more about Mencheres in Eternal Kiss of Darkness, especially his skills as a lover...Yowza, I definitely don’t see him as asexual anymore! Now I picture him more like Oded Fehr from the Mummy movies, only with a bit lighter skin and younger.
I really enjoyed the passionate relationship between Mencheres and Kira, and she’s such a strong, giving, funny, and honorable heroine that she nearly stole the show, but something about Mencheres still remained a bit detached somehow. I felt like he began to reveal himself and show more emotion towards the latter part of the book, but then unfortunately the ending was a bit abrupt and with no epilogue, I was left wanting a bit more.
The love scenes were nice and steamy, borderline erotic in a couple of places, and there were some funny moments, but the humor was definitely not as strong as in the previous books. Cat and Bones played small roles and were a delight as always, but I was disappointed that Spade and Denise were completely absent from this. Vlad Tepesh made his presence memorable as usual, and I’m definitely looking forward to his story, hopefully next?
Overall, this is my least favorite of the Night Huntress and Night Huntress World series so far, but it’s still a sexy, entertaining paranormal romance worthy of 4 ½...almost 5 stars!

Okay...It goes without saying that I’m a total hussy for the Brothers, that the BDB series is my favorite, and that the ‘WARD’en is brilliant, and I totally expected this to be another no-brainer 5-star read. But unfortunately, it juuust didn’t quite get there for me (shocking...I know!), mainly since I felt a little bit cheated in the romance department due to all the Lash/Lesser distraction and because there was just so much filler. I mean, Lash’s evil manifestation through physical deterioration and mental decline into total cuckoo-ville got waaay too much word time. And what was with the completely irrelevant haunted southern mansion sub-plot?! I could have done without that interruption for sure. I also felt like the flashback sub-plot with Darius and Tohr was a bit disruptive to the overall flow and pace of the story, but at least it tied in really well at the end. Although I’m still utterly confused about whether John Matthew is supposed to be Darius reincarnated or is he just his son?
I’ve always liked John Matthew and ached for his suffering and found Xhex to be a mysterious, intriguing, and kick-butt heroine, but I just didn’t picture them becoming a BDB power couple like Zsadist and Bella, Rhage and Mary, or Wrath and Beth. However, I was very pleasantly surprised and totally captivated by their intense connection, personal struggles, emotional turmoil and growth, and journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and healing. I just wish there had been more time devoted to their relationship and romance because it was so complicated, touching, volatile yet tender, passionate, heart-wrenching, and blistering hot!
By far, my favorite aspect of Lover Mine was the explosive sexual tension and volatile emotional conflict between Qhuinn and Blaylock...YOWZA! They (Qhuay) flat-out stole the show, IMO. I just kept wishing and hoping that Ward would give us a nice, fat, juicy Qhuinn/Blay steak! I expect (fingers crossed) that they will get their own story, or at least a novella, at some point, and I really hope there’s a big HEA coming their way. There better not be a Marissa and/or Jane sell out this time either...I want a Qhuinn/Blay mating, darnit!
So, although this wasn’t my favorite or a perfect 5-star read, the BDB series still kicks major ass! Now, I just wish there wasn’t such a long, agonizing wait until the next book! 4 ½...almost 5 stars!

I have to admit, this started off pretty freakin’ slow for me, and I felt like it had been ages since I’d read the last LOTU book ‘cause I was totally lost. Fortunately, the action really picked (and heated) up around the halfway point, and then it was an addictive, kick-ass, smokin’ hot ride until the very end. And I loved blue-haired, tattooed, pierced, sensitive, sexy, lie-uttering demon bad boy Gideon! It’s not my favorite LOTU book, but still a solid 4 stars. I can’t wait for Strider’s, Paris’s, and William’s stories!(less)

This series is totally addictive! It’s got a unique premise, an intriguing cast of young, 20-somethings with cool paranormal abilities, snarky humor, corrupt government conspiracies, uber bad-guys, edge-of-your-seat danger and suspense, dynamite action, and smokin’ hot sex! It reminds me of an exciting blend of several of my favorite TV shows and movies (think Firestarter + X-Files + Heroes + Push) all wrapped into one awesome, explosive thrill ride, and the books are fast-paced and read like a hot suspense, action flick. I highly recommend this series for fans of action-packed romantic suspense with a paranormal/sci-fi edge.(less)

Before Reading Survival Checklist:
1) Better have about 6 hours of uninterrupted free time since you simply won’t want to put it down! 2) Be sure to have a fan or a glass of ice water nearby ‘cause you’ll need to cool off! 3) Might want to make sure you have a nail file handy for when you’ve chewed your nails into ragged stubs!
Whew...What an awesome, intense, sexy, violent, edgy, gritty, explosive, suspenseful, hot, action-packed thrill-ride! I loved it! Skin Game kind of reminded me of Anne Stuart’s Ice series, especially the tough, broody, badass, alpha, anti-hero assassin, only with a slight paranormal element revolving around the heroine having an unusual ability related to touch (hence the title). So, if you like romantic suspense a bit on the dark side with unique, great characters, verrry steamy sex, and lots of exciting action, then definitely check this out! 5 stars!(less)

The Darkest Angel by Gena Showalter is Lords of the Underworld story #4.5 that takes place between The Darkest Whisper and The Darkest Passion and tells the tale of innocent, pure-hearted warrior angel Lysander, a demon assassin, who finds himself led into temptation by naughty, fun-loving, bad girl Harpy Bianka. It’s only a 140 pages, but it’s a smokin’ HOT story with lots of laughs and a sweet HEA. It’s worth reading for the hilarious and sexy Lysander versus Paris loincloth, oil wrestling match...trust me! “So. Much. Fun.” 5 stars!
Love Me To Death by Maggie Shayne is a wonderful 93 page ghost/reincarnation short story about a young woman seeking vengeance and justice by uncovering secrets of a small town murder from twenty two years before where four teenage boys were convicted. This was a really captivating, touching tale and definitely made me want to read more by the author. 5 stars.
Lady Of The Nile by Susan Krinard was somewhat confusing and rather dull, especially after reading the other two exciting stories in the anthology, and I ended up skimming through it. 1 star/DNF.
So overall it’s a pretty good paranormal romance anthology that’s worth reading for the stories by Gena Showalter and Maggie Shayne. 4 stars.

I was fairly disappointed with this one. The hero’s declaration of instant love (ahhh...I think it’s called lust) and then demanding total submission was borderline creepy and the annoying, whiny, wishy-washy heroine’s constant back and forth between “oh yes...give me more of those earthquaking, soulshaking orgasms, even though they make me bawl like a baby afterward ‘cause I’m scared that I revealed what a total hussy I am” and snapping her fingers and busting out the “you don’t own me” speech gave me whiplash.
I’m a fan of BDSM erotic romance and D/s relationships can be very hot when it fits the characters, but I just didn’t really care much for Hunter and Kata together. And don’t even get me started on the assassin suspense subplot because it was rather ridiculous.
Wicked Ties is one of my all-time favorite BDSM/erotic romances and Decadent is one of my favorite ménage erotic romances, but Delicious and especially this didn’t quite live up to my high expectations. I hope things get back on track for this series with Logan’s story Belong To Me.
Here’s Kata’s theme song (in between screaming multiple orgasms that is):
“You Don’t Own Me” by Lesley Gore
You don't own me, I'm not just one of your many toys You don't own me, don't say I can't go with other boys
And don't tell me what to do And don't tell me what to say And please, when I go out with you Don't put me on display, 'cause
You don't own me, don't try to change me in any way You don't own me, don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay

I’m a big fan of Davis’s thrilling, steamy Firefighters of Station Five romantic suspense series, and I was excited about her venture into writing erotica because no question, she writes some scorching hot sex scenes. Her first erotic suspense novel, When Alex Was Bad: A Novel of Erotic Suspense, was a bit of a disappointment because although it had lots of kinky, steamy sex, the story was weird and the characters were extremely annoying.
When I heard she was coming out with a new erotic romantic suspense series featuring sexy spies, I had high hopes for it. I Spy a Wicked Sin, the first book in the SHADO Agency series about assassins working for a covert homeland security agency, is definitely wicked hot alright, but it just didn’t quite “wow” me.
Jude St. Laurent is a successful, wealthy erotic artist struggling to heal and adjust from an accident that has left him blind and suffering from headaches and violent nightmares, so he hires personal assistant Lily Vale, who’s actually a secret agent undercover. Apparently, besides being a master artist, Jude is an ex-spy for SHADO Agency turned traitor, and Lily’s boss wants her to recover stolen files and terminate Jude using any means necessary, including sex of course. Lily and Jude share an immediate, explosive attraction, but when emotions get involved and Lily starts to question Jude’s guilt and her superior at SHADO’s motives, the mission gets complicated. And when Jude’s memories of his past as a “killer” threaten to expose SHADO, it puts him and Lily in danger.
But really, who has time for espionage when they’re engaging in nonstop kinky sex?!?!
There’s so much wild sex in this book and with various characters that’s it’s hard to keep it all straight.
Here’s a kink play-by-play:
•Jude and one of his artist models get it on while Lily “spies” on them. •Jude and his young, sexy, personal, live in chef and best friend Liam, who’s the most interesting character in the book by the way, engage in some smokin’ hot man on man action. •Lily and Liam have a sexy poolside tryst. •Lily and Jude eventually have sex with each other, which considering they’re the H/H is pretty anti-climatic and less memorable. •Lily and Jude have a foursome with Jude’s gallery owners and friends, a celebrity-sexy married couple, who are also playmates of Liam’s, although we never see the three of them together, which is surprising considering that just about everyone else in the book gets it on at some point. •Jude, Liam, and Lily engage in some wild, hot ménage fun. •Jude has public sex with a female stranger at an adult couples resort while Lily gets pleasured at the same time by two of the resorts bartenders. •More hot man-on-man sex between Jude and Liam. Y-O-W-Z-A! •More Jude, Lily, and Liam ménage action.
Phew...got all that? And then we’re supposed to buy the “ILY” between Jude and Lily, even though they barely have any conversations that don’t involve sex or espionage? Honestly, my favorite aspects of the book were the moments between Jude and Liam because they’re deep friendship, attraction, and emotions seemed the most genuine and believable. I kind of found myself wishing they’d end up together instead of Jude and Lily, but at least they all three got a HEA.
So if you enjoy erotica with male/male sex, M/M/F ménage, foursomes, dirty talk, mild BDSM, the H/H engaging in sex with other partners, including strangers, voyeurism, and exhibitionism with some suspense, intrigue, and action mixed in, you might enjoy this.
I’ll admit that kink and hotness can definitely make up for a lot, including a lack of character and plot development, when I’m in the right mood for it and the sex in this is definitely “wicked”, singe your fingertips hot, but I’m sorry to say that I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I’d hoped. But I still plan to check out the second book I Spy a Naughty Game when it comes out in Sept’2010, even though I’ll probably be reading it mainly for the “naughty” sex! 3 ½ stars.

Although it’s not quite as steamy as Wild, Wicked, & Wanton, I really enjoyed all three stories and couples in this sexy contemporary erotic romance anthology.
When their uncle dies, sisters Valerie and Brea return home to Oklahoma for the funeral and to help their sister Jolene run the family ranch. Of course, it’s not long before all three sisters engage in some hot, sweaty sex with some yummy cowboys!
Valerie’s never gotten over her foreman ex-husband Mason, and now that she’s back home again, old feelings and lust are rekindled. They always sizzled hot in the bedroom, but it was other parts of their relationship that seemed to fizzle out. Can they heal past hurts and restore trust to get it right the second time around?
Brea has always felt insecure and shy, especially compared to her beautiful, confident older sister Valerie and boisterous, spitfire younger sister Jo, and much prefers to escape in a book. Horse trainer Gage is used to applying a gentle, firm treatment to calm a spooked filly, and when he uses his tender, yet dominating touch to coax Brea, how can she possibly resist? His patience and skills in the bedroom help Brea overcome some hang-ups, and his caring, understanding nature are just what she needs to boost her self-confidence. But will their wild, romantic fling entice free-spirited drifter Gage to stick around?
Tough, sexy, independent, sassy Jolene has been after ranch hand Walker Morgan for what seems like forever, and she doesn’t care a whit that she’s his boss ‘cause she flat-out wants him...in every position imaginable. She’s flirted and flaunted, but Walker continues to ignore her advances and maintains a professional distance. Will Walker be able to resist when Jo’s determination gets more brazen than ever?
Three sisters, three studtastic, sweet cowboys, and lots of smokin’ hot lovin’ that leads to nice HEAs makes for a really satisfying erotic treat! 5 stars!

I’ve been anxiously awaiting Quinn Rafferty’s story ever since his powerful, unforgettable part in Fragile and Broken is an aptly named title for this, considering what a bruised, shattered soul he is.
Quinn is trying to put his life back together after his stint as an Army Ranger left him hollow and grief stricken, and working as a bounty hunter and bail bondsman seems a fitting way to earn a living, especially when he gets to collar and bring in loathsome abusive husbands. He’s still trying to heal from agonizing wounds in his past related to his own abusive childhood and a tragic loss from his Army Ranger days, and the last thing he wants is to get mixed up with a woman, especially one who’s harboring painful secrets of her own.
Quinn is drawn to his new neighbor Sara and is surprised by the strong attraction he feels for her after being numb for so long, but he thinks the best thing to do is avoid her. After all, he’s got enough trouble mending his own damaged soul than to worry about her or to get caught up in whatever she’s hiding. If only it wasn’t so hard to ignore her!
Sara’s been on the run for two years and has an agenda for the future, and it sure doesn’t include getting involved with her quiet, gruff, mysterious, hardened, sexy, biker neighbor Quinn who threatens her carefully laid plans, no matter how damn hot and bothered he makes her!
This is a moving, smokin’ hot romance about two people alone, distrusting, and broken in different ways whose tentative acquaintance turns into a sizzling sexual relationship and then eventually grows into something deeper. Quinn is a gruff, moody alpha hero, but underneath his tough exterior is a heartbroken little boy yearning for love and acceptance. I just wanted to wrap my arms around him, squeeze tight, and never let go! And there were subtle things he did once he started to fall for Sara that were so innocently tender and touching...it’s just flat-out impossible not to fall hard for him!
My only real complaint (and the reason I didn’t give it 5 stars) is that I wanted more communication, connection, and ‘getting to know you’ between Quinn and Sara (other than just the physical). I understand the reasons they were hesitant with each other and held themselves back, but I’d hoped at least in the end there would be a big unveiling and revealing between them. Unfortunately, the ending is disappointingly abrupt and leaves a lot left unresolved between them, and the lack of an epilogue was like salt on that wound.
Overall, it’s a satisfying erotic romantic suspense read with a tortured, to die for, sexy hero to love and a likable, unique heroine that’s full of drama, emotion, twists, and surprises. I just wish there had been further closure and a more pronounced HEA for the H/H. 4 ½ stars!

Lorelei James can do no wrong with the Rough Riders series. Seriously, every book gets big 5 stars and I think they can't possibly get any better. But then much to my heart's content, she proves me wrong. Branded As Trouble is another winner and the sweetest romance in the series so far. I loved everything about it: the great writing, the likable characters, the real life drama, the strong, emotional connection between the H/H, and especially the scorching H-O-T eroticism! Anyone who's read my review for Playing with Fire knows how much I loved it, especially heroine Belle's sarcastic humor and the sexy romance between her and uber yummalicious agent/assassin Rome.
So I was totally ooh goody, goody gum drops for more Belle and Rome in Twice as Hot; but there's trouble in paradise for the engaged lovers, and it ended up being an emotional roller coaster to get to their HEA. Luckily, there's plenty of fun, action, hot sexual tension, and snarky humor to entertain along the way.
I was gaga for Rome in Playing with Fire, but he acted like a real jerk for much of this. But Belle's not a simpering damsel in distress, so she refused to play the jilted, wilted flower and never gave up on them as a couple.
There were a lot of funny moments, but I think the scene with Belle and her sidekick Tanner discussing possible superhero names for newly acquired, and formerly badgal, agent Elaine, aka Draino, was one of my favorites.
"Oh, and guess what? I've renamed her Super Absorber," Tanner said. I tried not to cringe. "You realize that name makes her sound like a tampon, right?"
So although I didn't enjoy Twice as Hot as much as Playing with Fire, it's still a superfun, supersexy, and highly entertaining read. 4 ½-5 stars!
