This is a thrilling suspense read with an assassin antihero reminiscent of an Anne StuartIce-man.
My favorite quote:

That look in her eyes, it somehow latches onto my soul and all I want is for her to turn and walk away. Because I know that if she doesn't, if she presses me further with those soft lips and sad, vulnerable eyes that I'll succumb to the moment and either fuck her or kill her.(hide spoiler)]

I loved this!
I was somewhat underwhelmed by the first book in this series, Come Away With Me, but I’m soooo glad I kept reading because the rest have been some of my favorite reads of this year; not to mention having some of the most memorable, swoonalicious heroes. (Nate McKenna from Fight With Me is one of my all-time favorite husband harem worthy heroes!)
I had high expectations for this one from all the circling and tension that’s built between Caleb and Brynna in past books, and it definitely delivered. Caleb is a hot/cold, growly, sexy alpha SEAL hero with a sensitive, caring, protective nature who’s also vulnerable and tormented by inner demons and PTSD. Brynna is a strong and loyal heroine and she was perfect for him. I loved them together! I also adored Caleb’s relationship with Brynna’s inquisitive, vivacious twin six-year-old girls, Maddie and Josie. There were some very precious and poignant moments between them. And the ending and epilogue was satisfying and brought on some waterworks.
I love the close-knit Montgomery family and all their extended clan. One of the best things about this series is the relationships and interactions between all the characters and how much involvement there is in each book. The sexual teasing and hilarity that often results when the men and women get together provide some of the best and most highly entertaining moments. (The scene I posted below is one such instance.)
I can’t wait for hot, protective cop with a kinky side Matt’s book, Tied With Me, to come out! And I really hope she writes Dom’s story!
I loved this scene when the gang’s all together playing a dirty board game and Caleb is still trying to deny and resist his strong attraction and feelings for Brynna.
I drop my face to my hands and scrub hard.
"I wish I had your boobs," I hear Sam announce and raise my head to see who she's talking to. Of course, she's talking to Bryn.
"Right," she smirks and takes another bite of brownie.
"Dude, I do!" And just like that, Sam saunters across the room and cups Brynna's tit in her palm. "See? You have the perfect boobs. Stace, have you felt her boobs?"
Just kill me. Put a bullet in my head and end the agony.
"Oh yeah," Stacy waves her off. "She has great tits."
She has amazing tits.
"I wanna feel!" Jules bounces over and joins in.
"Give me more chocolate and you can touch all you want." Brynna laughs and then glances over at me. "This is the most action I've had in months."
"Motherfuckingsonofawhore." I grumble.
"Is Brynna single?" Mark asks Will.
"Keep your fucking hands off her," I growl at him before I know what's coming out of my mouth.
"Hey," he holds his hands up in surrender and laughs. "It was just an innocent question."

I’m a devoted J.R. Ward fan, and I looovedCovet. But I have to be honest; my enthusiasm for this series has somewhat dwindled.
I think it’s partly because of the yearlong gap in releases and that I read so many books in between. I just can’t keep everything straight with all the Devina/Jim/Sissy/Adrian and battle for souls drama that seems to get more confusing with each book. And I also feel like way too much time is spent on Devina and all her OCD and idiosyncrasies, not to mention her and Jim’s depraved, hateful, twisted, vengeful use of (view spoiler)[sex (hide spoiler)] as a weapon in their good versus evil war with each other.
I loved Duke! He was a seriously yummy, growly, broody, tortured alpha hero. I devoured every scene he was in, but I wish he’d been given additional page time. The relationship between him and Cait was much more satisfying than the romance storyline in Rapture. And their sex scenes were yowza hot! But I was still left wanting extra Duke, further time spent on the romance, and a more satisfying, detailed HEA.
Although my interest in the series has slightly diminished, I’m curious how the battle will play out and who wins the war and hopeful of a HEA for Jim, so I’ll still read on to find out.
I was only going to give 3 GR stars for my rating, but I loved Duke and his steamy romance with Cait so much that I added another star and bumped my rating to 3.5 stars. This probably would’ve been just a 2 star read for me if it wasn’t for Duke.

I feel like this series is equivalent to a violent, disturbing ten car pileup involving mass casualties that you just can’t avoid being compelled to stare at. The characters are hardcore crazy and seriously f*cked up.
I hated Cage and Tegen in this, and I didn’t like them any better as a couple. They fought, shouted, and cursed at each other the entire frigging book, but I guess they deserve each other.
And the secondary romance between Dirty and Ellie was compelling and surprisingly touching, but a (view spoiler)[violent killer and rapist (hide spoiler)] as a romantic hero? Sure, he was uber tormented and his past heartbreaking, but it was still a bit much and hard to accept, even in the context of MC life.
But this series is still shamefully addictive and wildly entertaining, so I’ll be seeking my next fix when Unbeloved comes out.
I’m using the same picture to describe how I feel about this book that I used for Undeniable.
And why did I find it so crazy addictive, unputdownable, and entertaining?!? This book is not PC or a sugarcoated depiction of a motorcycle club, but that’s probably part of what makes it so gripping. As I said in my Undeniable review, maybe I shouldn’t have enjoyed this so much, but shamelessly, I did. And I can’t wait for Cage and Tegen’s book!(less)

I really enjoyed this one! Hunter was a total badass and all kinds of dark, broody hotness! And it was really interesting seeing the Luxen/Arum conflict from the Arum's POV. I highly recommend this adult spin-off novel for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout's YA Lux series who want more steam!(less)
