Loved it! Cold Pursuit is a gripping, intense, and action packed romantic suspense thriller that reads like a great movie. My only complaint is the same I had with the first book, A Cold Dark Place, which is that I felt like the ending was a bit rushed for the H/h, and I wanted a more definitive HEA. Still, it’s an excellent romantic suspense read, and I’m really enjoying this series. I can’t wait for the next book, Cold Light of Day, to come out!...more

I really enjoyed this one! Jimmy is such a yummy, complex, narcissistic, tortured, broodylicious bad boy asshat and Lena is quirky, genuine, amusing, and snarky, and they were just so much darn fun together! I really, badly wanted Jimmy’s POV and for him to appreciate Lena more and (view spoiler)[realize and admit his feelings a lot sooner. (hide spoiler)] I also felt like there needed to be more time spent on them as an actual “couple”. The ending and epilogue just didn’t quite satisfy in that regard. Still, it’s a great read and my favorite of the series! And hopefully we’ll get to see more of Lena and Jimmy together in Ben’s book, Deep.["br"]>["br"]>...more

This was a tad slow for me in the beginning. I liked Cassie, but too much time was spent in her head and on minutely detailing the Glacier Lily cabins. I wanted more of Deacon, and there seemed to be a keen lack of his background and POV. Fortunately things picked up in a big way for me around the 25% mark and the last 30% or so was fabulous, especially the sigh-worthy, KA epic epilogue. I wanted some action and further details about Deacon’s shady, criminal past, and I think it would have been even better with more of the story told from his POV. But I still ended up loving it and very KA content. 4 ½ stars!
One last observation/quibble:
I got tired of the H/h using/saying the words ‘woman’, ‘beauty’, and ‘badass/badasses’. They’re common expressions in KA’s books and being overused to the point that it’s really beginning to annoy me....more

I’ve been eagerly awaiting broody Maddox Locke’s story ever since he first appeared in Axel, and his role in the previous books has been one of my favorite parts of the series. I enjoyed this, but it wasn’t nearly as good as I’d expected/hoped.
The book got off to a really shaky start for me because the H/h both had horrific, abusive, soap opera crazy, unbelievable pasts. Locke’s family was like some bad, overdramatic Dallas TV show remake and Emmy’s background seemed contrived and just too implausible.
I couldn’t understand Emmy’s stupid, WTF actions early on. “Little does he know, I’m the only one in control of my life.” Oh really?!?! Then why the f*ck did she willingly (view spoiler)[go back to stripping at her whack job parents’ seedy strip club and foolishly put herself in harm’s way from psycho, sicko Shawn (her violent, repeated abuser/tormenter/rapist) (hide spoiler)]?!?! And it seemed ridiculous to me that a strong, intelligent man like Maddox Locke would continually believe he had (view spoiler)[darkness and evil lurking inside him that destroys others just because it was spewed by his malevolent b*tch of a mother and malicious, despicable family. (hide spoiler)]
The constant push-pull between Maddox and Emmy was exhausting and went on for far too long. She was annoyingly aggressive and exasperatingly sassy and didn’t even seem like the same Emmy from the previous books. I was also pretty disappointed with the hot but unemotional sex scenes.
Thankfully, the story got much better about halfway through and the ending and epilogue were fabulous and made up for a lot. So I did like this, but I didn’t love it. And I was somewhat letdown and underwhelmed considering how much and how long I’ve been wanting Locke’s turn to be in the light.
I’m really excited that she’s writing a book for Cohen and Dani, Unexpected Fate, and I hope she has stories planned for the other Corps Security kids, as well.
