I was in the mood for something different and KH definitely delivered on that front. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped based on the popularity/hype from so many of my GR friends. I found Perry somewhat annoying, and Dex, albeit intriguing and mysterious, didn’t really do that much for me either. And honestly, it wasn’t nearly as creepy/scary as I’d expected. BUT, I am curious as to what’s in store for these two, so I’m wavering about whether or not to proceed with the series. Do the books get better and darker/creepier/scarier? Will Perry and Dex get together and manage some romance amidst the supernatural? Hmmm...see...I’m torn but still interested....more

I really enjoyed this one! I’ve read every single KH book and despite their more chick-lit feel and the no/very low steam, fade to black love scenes, I always somehow find myself engaged, charmed, and entertained by her witty writing, fun, quirky characters, and sweet, humorous stories.
KH created another genuine, flawed, cute, funny, strong, insecure, loveable, lonely, relatable heroine in Emmaline and made me feel every emotion right along with her. Jack was a perfect, imperfect, romantic hero and exactly what she needed. I just wish there had been a lot more page time spent on Em and Jack together and much less on detailing their past relationships with their uber annoying exes. The ending felt slightly rushed, and I wanted a teensy bit more of an apology and groveling on Jack’s part. And of course, I keep hoping/wishing that KH will turn up the heat in her books by about 200 degrees! But it’s still a great read that made me feel, smile, laugh, and cry, so 4-4 ½ highly enjoyable stars!...more

I really enjoyed this one! Jimmy is such a yummy, complex, narcissistic, tortured, broodylicious bad boy asshat and Lena is quirky, genuine, amusing, and snarky, and they were just so much darn fun together! I really, badly wanted Jimmy’s POV and for him to appreciate Lena more and (view spoiler)[realize and admit his feelings a lot sooner. (hide spoiler)] I also felt like there needed to be more time spent on them as an actual “couple”. The ending and epilogue just didn’t quite satisfy in that regard. Still, it’s a great read and my favorite of the series! And hopefully we’ll get to see more of Lena and Jimmy together in Ben’s book, Deep.["br"]>["br"]>...more

I feel like this series is equivalent to a violent, disturbing ten car pileup involving mass casualties that you just can’t avoid being compelled to stare at. The characters are hardcore crazy and seriously f*cked up.
I hated Cage and Tegen in this, and I didn’t like them any better as a couple. They fought, shouted, and cursed at each other the entire frigging book, but I guess they deserve each other.
And the secondary romance between Dirty and Ellie was compelling and surprisingly touching, but a (view spoiler)[violent killer and rapist (hide spoiler)] as a romantic hero? Sure, he was uber tormented and his past heartbreaking, but it was still a bit much and hard to accept, even in the context of MC life.
But this series is still shamefully addictive and wildly entertaining, so I’ll be seeking my next fix when Unbeloved comes out.
I’m using the same picture to describe how I feel about this book that I used for Undeniable.

This really sucked me in and I neglected all kinds of household tasks to finish it in nearly one sitting. It’s a great read with lots of melodrama and angst that makes for an addictive, fast-paced romance. It reminded me of a very well done Harlequin romance. There were some editing errors, and I got confused when the heroine suddenly developed red hair to match her fiery temper when I could have sworn at one point earlier in the book she was described as being a blonde. But those minor missteps didn’t lessen my overall enjoyment, especially considering it was only .99 cents. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more from this author....more
2 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
I’m a fan of LF’s Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series and had high hopes for her new series, but t2 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
I’m a fan of LF’s Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series and had high hopes for her new series, but this first installment was sadly disappointing. I didn’t feel any connection between the H/h other than lust, and their HEA was whiplash fast and trite. The suspense part of the story was rather dull and definitely didn’t make up for the inadequate romance. Overall, this was a lackluster read that I’m really glad I got free from the library. Despite being underwhelmed with the series debut, other characters have promise, so I might give the next book a chance....more
