I adored the H/h and their dazzlingly witty, sexy banter and snarky, steamy interactions, and the first 45-50% or so of the book was absolutely fantastic. Then it took a seriously twisty turn that I didn’t like when the hero finds out his (view spoiler)[bitchy, snobby, lying, cheating ex-fiancée’s adorable daughter is actually his. The conniving ex trying to manipulate and get him back and the whole suddenly I’m a father plotline (hide spoiler)]nearly took over and derailed the story and the romance, but luckily things got back on track.
I just loved the H/h together, and their playful Dear Ida advice column exchanges were particularly delightful and utter perfection and really made the book standout for me. The ending was sweet, fabulous, and hilarious (view spoiler)[(Graham’s Poopface in Manhattan Dear Ida email made me laugh out loud) (hide spoiler)] and left a big, fat satisfied smile on my face. So overall, this was a very enjoyable read!

Loved this one! A fun, fabulous, and steamy enemies to lovers romance featuring a seemingly uptight, controlled, nerdy, health nut, marathon-running forensic anthropologist/professor and an independent, curvaceous, bombshell, cupcake-loving small-town baker/bakery owner who drive each other crazy but discover they have explosive chemistry when they’re forced to spend more time together due to their mutual family ties and friendships. Boy oh boy was James and his (view spoiler)[dirty talking, dominant bedroom ways (hide spoiler)] an unexpected, hot surprise! Yowza! James and Gracie made a fun, sexy couple, and the secondary characters were great and really added to the story. A very entertaining 5 stars!["br"]>["br"]>...more
This was a fun, cute romantic comedy. I was pleasantly surprised by the friends-to-lovers aspect of the3 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance/Romantic Comedy
This was a fun, cute romantic comedy. I was pleasantly surprised by the friends-to-lovers aspect of the relationship between the H/h, especially considering what a player the hero was in the beginning. The yoga scenes were funny, and the romantic development seemed believable. But I was also somewhat disappointed by the relaxed pacing and lukewarm chemistry. I expected lots of fun, naughty, sexy times given Hayden’s cocky, manwhore reputation, but he was just a tad too tame for me.
There was some minor angst related to Hayden’s past and Emery’s job, but nothing overly dramatic. I didn’t like that the issue of (view spoiler)[sexual harassment by Emery’s boss (hide spoiler)] wasn’t fully dealt with and felt slightly downplayed and trivialized. But I was also glad it didn’t overtake the story, given the generally lighter, comedic tone.
Overall, the story wasn’t quite as sexy and entertaining as I was anticipating, but it was still an engaging read worth 3 ½ stars. And I’m definitely interested in reading Hudson’s book, Monster Prick.
**I was provided a free copy of this book by the author, Kendall Ryan, in exchange for an honest review.**

I honestly had little interest in consuming more milk from this overused cash cow, but the library had it. Part of me was curious, so since I didn’t have to pay for it, I figured, what the hell? Grey’s Fifty Shades of Fucked-Up POV was actually better than I expected, and I especially loved not having to listen to Ana’s uber annoying inner goddess....more
4-4 – It could’ve been a 5 but I needed more from the Hero – stars – Contemporary Romance
This was an addictive, entertaining, and scorching hot page4-4 ½ – It could’ve been a 5 but I needed more from the Hero – stars – Contemporary Romance
This was an addictive, entertaining, and scorching hot page turner. The push-pull chemistry and enemies-to-lovers interaction between Cain and Alexa was off the charts magnetic and explosive and kept me riveted. But Cain’s repeated highhandedness, hurtful, asshat actions, rejection, and cold-cold-hot-possessive-cold-cold-hot-possessive-cold-cold-hot-possessive-cold-cold routine and Alexa’s exasperating dichotomy between doormat-in-pursuit and spunky, sassy, independent persona ultimately became rather frustrating and tiresome.
Not having enigmatic Cain’s POV hindered the story and lessened my enjoyment because I wanted, no needed, more insight into his thoughts and actions. The ending was satisfying, and I liked finally seeing Cain so (view spoiler)[adoring of Alexa in the epilogue (hide spoiler)]. Even though I didn’t entirely love it and keenly missed having the hero’s perspective, I really enjoyed reading Hero.
