I'm a big Gena Showalter and LOTU fan, but this was a disappointment for me. Kane has never been one of my favorite warriors, and I just couldn't get into the story. It was too slow and dragged at times, and the Fae element didn't really interest me. The steam factor was just a low simmer and never quite sizzled. William's scenes and his sarcastic humor kept it from being a total bust. Overall, this was just an okay addition to the series. Hopefully Torin's book will be better, and I can't wait for William's story!(less)

The Darkest Fire is an okay LOTU prequel story, but I didn’t really gain any further insights into the series and it’s just a bit too short. 3 stars.
The Darkest Prison is a pretty good LOTU ‘enemies to lovers’ story that I enjoyed. 4 stars.
The Darkest Angel is Lords of the Underworld story #4.5 that takes place between The Darkest Whisper and The Darkest Passion and tells the tale of innocent, pure-hearted warrior angel Lysander, a demon assassin, who finds himself led into temptation by naughty, fun-loving, bad girl Harpy Bianka. It’s only a 140 pages long, but it’s a smokin’ HOT story with lots of laughs and a sweet HEA. It’s worth reading for the hilarious and sexy Lysander versus Paris loincloth, oil wrestling match...trust me! “So. Much. Fun.” 5 stars!(less)

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would, especially considering that I was somewhat disappointed with the last book, The Darkest Lie, and since Amun has always been a rather quiet (pun intended), serious, and less charismatic Lord. But color me pleasantly surprised by my enjoyment with this one.
Amun and Haidee have magnetic chemistry and explosive sexual tension, and their mutual longing and desperate need to belong was palpable, touching, and sad. The romance between them is wildly passionate, sweet, sexy, beautifully moving, fierce, and achingly tender, all at the same time. And did I mention HOT? Whew!
And I loved all the humorous buddy moments with Strider (his cocky arrogance cracks me up!), William, and Paris ribbing each other. I can't wait for their books! This is a fun, smokin' hot, satisfying addition to the LOTU series. 4 ½ stars!(less)

GAWD this cover is gorgeous!
And Strider? He’s a sexy, snarky, narcissistic, surprisingly sweet, possessive, protective, and all around badass, fun-loving warrior. His constant need for challenge to assuage his demon of Defeat and egotistical inner dialogue is freaking hilarious. He’s one of my favorite Lords and Kaia the Kick-Ass (my chosen nickname for her) Harpy is just perfect for him. Darkest Surrender is a great addition to the LOTU series.
“You are not Kaia the Disappointment. Do you hear me? That’s what I was trying to tell you earlier. You are Kaia the Mighty. How many Harpies out there do you think could have brought down the most badass Lord of the Underworld? The same Lord who also happens to be the strongest, sexiest and smartest. And by the way, in case there’s any doubt, I’m describing me.”
