I’ve read/reviewed the previous four books in the ‘Ice’ series, and just like those, “Fire and Ice” totally delivers on all counts for hot romantic suspense and is a gripping, action-packed, thrill-ride. Only this time around instead of fighting global terrorists bent on some master end-of-the-world plan, reluctant ‘Ice’ hero and total bad boy Reno battles Russian mercenaries and Japanese yakuza in order to keep young and impetuous heroine Jilly alive.
It’s still got Stuart’s distinctive dark, gamma, anti-hero angst and the whole ‘will he bed and/or kill her thing’ going like the other ‘Ice’ books, but Reno in “Fire and Ice” is much nastier, a heck of a lot more fun, and actually has a sense of humor, usually unleashed on the heroine of course. Reno, with his waist long flame red hair, teardrop cheek tattoos, leather and dark sunglasses, is such an utterly fascinating and complex character, and he’s a truly unique romantic hero/anti-hero.
“Fire and Ice” is an exciting, funny, steamy, hold-on-to-the-edge-of-your-seat, and refreshing addition and ending to this riveting romantic suspense series. I would have preferred more inclusion of the previous ‘Ice’ characters, more of a series wrap-up, and an epilogue would have been gravy, but other than that, it was a thrilling conclusion to the awesome ‘Ice’ series...5 stars!
It’s really hard to decide because all of the ‘Ice’ books are so darn good and I loved them pretty equally, plus, each of the gamma heroes are totally yummy in their own way, but after much debating; I think this is my preference order for the series:
1 – Book #4 “Ice Storm” (Mary/Madame Isobel Lambert and Killian/Serafin) 2 – Book #3 “Ice Blue” (Takashi O’Brien and Summer Hawthorne) 3 – Book #5 “Fire and Ice” (Reno and Jilly Lovitz) 4 – Book #2 “Cold as Ice” (Peter Jensen and Genevieve Spenser) 5 – Book #1 “Black Ice” (Bastien Toussaint and Chloe Underwood)...more

“Cold As Ice” is another dark, thrilling read in Anne Stuart’s Ice series. It’s got an exciting, fast paced plot, a vicious villain, a strong heroine, and gamma hero Peter might be ‘cold as ice’, but he completely won me over with his wicked wit and innate raw sex appeal. Peter and Genevieve’s relationship was much more believable to me than Bastien and Chloe’s in “Black Ice”, perhaps because Peter’s vulnerability and feelings over Genevieve are more apparent, whereas Bastien kept his well hidden until the very end.
The Ice series is truly unique compared to other books in the romantic suspense genre, and I’ll definitely read the rest of the books in the series. My only complaints are the abrupt endings and lack of epilogue, which is somewhat addressed by the fact that past characters are mentioned in later books, and the author’s insistent negative focus on the heroine’s weight. In both “Black Ice” and “Cold As Ice”, the heroines are considered heavy and carrying about 15 extra pounds at sizes 6 and 8 and it’s mentioned repeatedly throughout the books and by several characters. But both Bastien and Peter seem to love the heroines’ curvaceous figures, so I guess that’s all that matters!
“Cold As Ice” is a first-rate action packed romantic suspense thriller with a deliciously sexy gamma hero...5 stars!...more

Wow...Another dynamic read in Anne Stuart’s hypnotic ‘Ice’ series! The books seem to get inconceivably better each time, and “Ice Storm” was perhaps the most gripping story yet. The use of flashback to reveal Madame Isobel Lambert’s history and transformation into her role as head of The Committee and reigning 'Ice Queen' was intriguing, and only Stuart could convincingly make a sexy romantic hero out of a coldblooded, calculating, and enigmatic killer like Killian/Serafin. The palpable chemistry and acerbic sexual tension between Isobel and Killian was stimulating and keeps you guessing as to whether they’re going to kill or bed each other, or maybe both. I also liked that characters from the previous ‘Ice’ books were featured strongly in this one, providing nice updates on their lives and loves. Charismatic and commanding Reno makes another strong appearance in this, but he gets his very own story next...I can’t wait for that! Another exciting thrill-ride in the ‘Ice’ series...5 stars!...more
"Ice Blue" is another intriguing romantic suspense read in Anne Stuart’s gripping ‘Ice’ series and my favorite of the serie5 stars – Romantic Suspense
"Ice Blue" is another intriguing romantic suspense read in Anne Stuart’s gripping ‘Ice’ series and my favorite of the series so far, which is saying a lot considering the two previous books were wicked good too. I thought Bastien and Peter couldn’t be beat for dark, sexy-as-sin gamma heroes, but Takashi ‘Taka’ O’Brien in "Ice Blue" is positively drool worthy! He’s half American, half Japanese, which is a rare combination for a hero of a romance novel, and he resents his American "gaijin" half. This of course gives him additional material for sexy brooding, which is fine by me!
"Ice Blue" centers on a religious zealot in Japan leading a plot to induce Armageddon. The Committee dispatches undercover assassin Takashi O’Brien to stop the cult using any means necessary, including seducing and/or killing museum curator Summer Hawthorne, who unknowingly holds an ancient Japanese artifact that is a critical piece in the cult’s plot to destroy the world. The sparks between Takashi and Summer are electric and when they finally come together it’s explosive. It just seemed to end much too quickly for me...I wanted more! I’m so glad there are still two more books in the series! Takashi’s volatile cousin Reno was such a mystifying secondary character, and I can’t wait to read his story in "Fire and Ice".
I keep contemplating on what it is exactly that makes the ‘Ice’ series so thrilling, and I think it’s a combination of several things. For starters, Anne Stuart’s love-and-hate’em anti-heroes are truly unique for romance novels, the plots are dark, fast paced, and action packed, the heroines are relatable, imperfect, naïve, vulnerable, yet are strong, beautiful, and persistent enough to thaw the heroes’ ice cold hearts, and the villains are extremely sadistic and malevolent. The books are as compelling as a good suspense thriller movie, like the Bourne movies for instance, and make you wonder what it would be like to be caught up in the violent, turbulent, life-and-death, roller coaster whirlwind with ruthless, cunning, seductive killers like Bastien, Peter, or Takashi. (Or with all three of them at the same time would be my preference...lusty grin!)
"Ice Blue" is a top-notch romantic suspense thriller with a mouth-wateringly sexy gamma hero...5 stars!...more

This book is hard to rate/review because it’s so different from the typical romantic suspense novel and much darker, which isn’t a bad thing at all, but makes it more challenging to describe. I had read a lot of the reviews describing Bastien as the ultimate gamma hero, and boy is he ever! I’m not sure what I was expecting, maybe a Jason Bourne type assassin, but Bastien makes Bourne look like the Easter bunny! He’s brutally cold, ruthless, calculating, manipulative, seductive, and feels no guilt or remorse over his actions, but yet he’s still surprisingly sexy as all get out.
“Black Ice” is a very distinctive and well-written action-packed suspense thriller with a dark gamma hero, a naive heroine, and some romance to boot. I’ll definitely read the rest of the series...5 stars!...more
If ever there was a heroine worthy of winning an award for being the most clueless, oblivious, in denial, stupid, and choke4 stars – Romantic Suspense
If ever there was a heroine worthy of winning an award for being the most clueless, oblivious, in denial, stupid, and choke worthy female, Rachel from Silver Falls would definitely be top in the running. Good lord, but the woman’s idiocy drove me absolutely ‘throw the book across the room’ flippin’ nuts.
Oh yeah, and throw in an uber creeptastic, psycho serial killer villain who strangles then rapes his victims post mortem and a classic Stuart gamma anti-hero for the romantic lead, and you get this totally dark, eerie suspense thriller. But it actually works, mainly due to Anne Stuart’s crafty writing and because despite some imperfections, it’s still a gripping and entertaining read. 4 stars....more

This was my least favorite of the lushly sensual House of Rohan series, mainly because the ruination revenge plot was exhausting and the hero, scarred, depraved Lucien de Malhuer, aka the Scorpion, wasn’t quite reformed or redeemed enough to make up for some truly heinous, unforgivable acts perpetrated against the heroine. I love Stuart’s dark, tortured, gamma heroes, but emotionally empty, borderline evil Scorpion Lucien was a bit too much at times. His feelings towards Miranda Rohan seemed more like a sick, twisted sense of control and power or a kind of morbid, rapt fascination akin to an entomologist with an exotic butterfly pinned and trapped under glass, rather than anything remotely genuine or caring enough to ever be considered love. Lucien’s actions and slightly softened disposition towards the very end made me start to think it was possible that he might actually feel some real affection for Miranda, but the ending was far too abrupt for it to solidify. This really could have used another chapter and/or an epilogue to provide a more believable, satisfying HEA. Still, Breathless is a sexy, enticing read with intriguing characters, great writing, and an engaging secondary romance that I enjoyed almost as much, if not more than, the main couple. So I’m rating it 4 stars....more

As much as I enjoyed Ruthless, this left me even more satisfied, mainly because I thought it had a better story and I felt more of a connection between the H/h, even if it was often antagonistic.
Adrian, Viscount Rohan, son of the H/h from Ruthless, is as deliciously sexy, devilishly wicked, and utterly dissipated as his notorious father. A tall, awkward, redheaded, freckled, bespectacled, bluestocking, virgin spinster like Charlotte should hold little appeal to a rakehell with his depraved experience and lusty appetites, but for some unfathomable reason, he finds it impossible to resist or dismiss her. Adrian demands Charlotte's acquiescence and undertakes teaching her all the naughty delights of sexual pleasure, but can she make the cynical libertine surrender his heart?
Reckless is another decadently dark, lushly erotic read in the sexy House of Rohan series with a sinfully delectable hero who makes this a sensual, luscious treat to savor like the finest chocolate. 5 stars!...more

Without a doubt, the best thing about Ruthless is dark, captivating, “he’s so bad that you can’t help but love him” Viscount Rohan, who’s the absolute, ultimate depraved rakehell anti-hero. The heroine made me want to slap her for about the first 150 pages, but once her past was revealed, I understood her better, felt sympathy for all that she’d endured, and admired her strength. It was headed for a 4 ½ star rating, but the abrupt ending and lack of a definite, satisfying resolution between the H/h made me knock it down to 4 stars. Still, devilishly beguiling, fiendishly naughty degenerate Viscount Rohan is more than reason enough to read this!...more

Awesome read! Finally another ICE book and it delivered! With exotic locales, nonstop action, edge-of-your-seat danger, knuckle-gripping suspense, uber nasty villains, an unforgettably sexy, ruthless Irish hero, a heroine who manages a minimal amount of whining for such extreme and violent situations, hot sexual tension, and steamy romance, On Thin Ice is definitely a must read for fans of Anne Stuart’s ICE series and dark romantic suspense! My only quibble is that there are quite a few editing errors, but those minor mistakes didn’t lessen my enjoyment, at all. 5 stars!...more
