Of course, it didn't turn out to be a "novella" at all, it's 270 pages in eBook, 9 hours, 6 minutes as an audiobook. Full-length tale, y'all. That's because Paul Cooley and I found the character of Poughkeepsie Pete to be so captivating, his teammates lively and riveting, and his situation so rich and fraught with lethal danger that what was supposed to be 40,000 words easily went over 80,000.
And how about this cover? Ray Dillon did the original art, the font and layout was designed by Scott E. Pond (who also did the cover for Title Fight, GFL Novella #3). I'm attaching the cover below in larger form so you can see it in all its glory.

Sunday, February 5, 2017 Just one month until ALONE hits stores. Get those pre-orders in, my friends, because this trilogy goes out with a bang.
Sunday, January 22, 2016 Today we finished principle recording on the ALONE audiobook. We're really excited to finish the trilogy in style and entertain the hell out of you.
Emma Galvin narrated the first two books in the series, ALIVE and ALONE. We've made a change for Book III. As the author, I felt I needed to show the increasing maturity of characters who have been hardened by fire and steel, by blood and loss. Emma captured early Em well — our new narrator, A.B. Kovacs (pictured below) is ideally suited to voicing someone who has seen far too much violence and lost more than anyone ever should.
We expect the audiobook to go up for pre-order around February 7, one month before the ALONE hardcover, eBook and audiobook come out on March 7, 2016.
Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 YOU COULD BE A CHARACTER IN ALONE! A new contest, where your name could be the name of a character in Book III of the Generations Trilogy. Click here or click the image to find out how you can be immortalized as one of the Birthday Children! Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 The SiglerFest2k16 attendees got a big surprise — galleys of ALONE.
Our annual fan fest in Las Vegas was a big hit this year. And look at those happy faces!
Thursday, May 19, 2016 2nd draft remarks are back from the editor Del Rey, so today I start on the 3rd draft. With the majority of the plot and pacing now set in stone, this draft is to delve a little deeper into emotion and feeling. Friendships, animosity and the battle for power come to the fore. This is a shorter window for edits, but the book is fairly rock solid so that shouldn't be a problem. After this, it's on to line edits.
Thursday, April 21, 2016 I'm working hard on the 2nd draft. There are some very cool elements bubbling to the surface, as well as some that are irritating me like sand in your swim trunks. It's amazing how a couple of tiny details can stand out and get in the way of the story. Those elements have to be ground down, sanded, polished and buffed before you can drive the new car off the lot.
I do think people are going to dig this book. It really closes out the trilogy with a definitive ending. But, I hope you're not too attached to some of these characters ...
Monday, December 21, 2015: Folks, I just submitted the ALONE outline to my editor at Del Rey. The outline is 45 freakin' pages long. That might indicate a huge book, but probably not —it means I've broken the plot down in specific detail. I don't want to choke the book with excess verbiage, so the challenge will be to make those 53 chapters tight and punchy.
I will say this: the ending is big. That's the ending of both this novel, ALONE, and the entire Generations Trilogy. I know it's pitched as YA, so forgive my French, but the shit's gonna get real.
As AC/DC would say, if you want blood, you got it ...

JULY 19, 2016: Check out the paperback cover for ALIGHT (hardcover out now, paperback out October 4, 2016). Del Rey, the publisher, is going for a whole new look with the series. They've also slated a new paperback cover for ALIVE, and that one will also be out about October 4. Publisher just ramping things up to push the hardcover of Book III of the trilogy, ALONE, out Marcy 7 2017.
Update 4/5/16 Ladies and gentlemen, ALIGHT is in stores today. It's mah Book Birthday, and to celebrate, I will pop this here bottle of Champagne.
Even for a full-time author, there are only a few days in a lifetime when a new book comes out. It's important to celebrate these days — this is what we work so long and so hard for, to bring you readers a new story. If I've done my job well, ALIGHT will carry you away to another world and leave your problems far behind, at least for a few precious hours. This is why I do what I do. And also for the champagne. Because that stuff is dope, yo.
Update 3/15/16 The first hardcovers came in! I'm quite excited.
Update 3/5/2016: Cover unboxing video! I got the first final covers for ALIGHT in, thought I'd share the moment with all y'all. Click on the video thumbnail below to watch!

Update 12/10/15: I am borrowing a page from my author-buddy Michael J Sullivan and posting updates about my books in my "review" of the book itself. Seems to work well for him.
ALIGHT is in the final copyedit phase. I'm watching the talented folks at Del Rey catch the last few little typos and small continuity errors (at least I hope they are the last errors ...). Sometimes as an author, you are too close to the story, and you've read it so many times you miss small things. The fresh eyes of a copyeditor go a long way to ironing out those wrinkles.
I'm really exited to bring you this book. I busted my hump on it to create something that breaks the mold of the typical trilogy — this Book II is a story unto itself, not a place-holder between Book I and Book II. I want to keep you guessing right up until the end.
I hope you dig it! If you're looking forward to ALIGHT, add it to your "to read" shelf....more

Check out the new paperback cover for ALIVE, complete with the "New York Times #1 Bestseller" tag! Del Rey, the publisher, is changing cover style for the paperback release of ALIGHT, and when they do there will be this new cover for ALIVE. What do you think?
JULY 17, 2016: Whaaaat? A year after publication, ALIVE hit #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list for YA ebooks. A huge accomplishment to get that #1, and quite a surprise!
JANUARY 19, 2016: Check out the French-language cover of ALIVE, from the publisher Lumen. Woo-hoo!
JUNE 16, 2015: Testing out using the "review" section to keep my Goodreads pals updated on the progress of Alive. I learned this trick from Michael J Sullivan — he and his wife Robin are whiz-kids when it comes to Goodreads.
Alive is out July 14, 2015. That means we're just over four weeks away from release date. Stress City, population 1. We're banging away on marketing at this point, with some really cool stuff planned. We've worked hard to cater to BookTubers, a YouTube sub-culture that, in my opinion, is reshaping the way people talk about books in the US.
We also have a book trailer coming up soon. It's being premiered on a major entertainment site on June 24 (unless big entertainment news pushes it out a day or two), so keep an eye on my Twitter, Instagram and at my scottsigler.com website for more info.
