I never knew that flowers could convey so many feelings and be interpreted in many ways.
I loved the way the author took the reader back in time to when Victoria was younger and then the next chapter being in the here and now.
Reading about Victoria being bounced from home to home broke my heart...unfortunately, I know a lot of kids like Victoria.
I thought the story was beautifully executed and when I wasn't reading the book I was thinking about it and what would happen next. I absolutely loved how the flowers were their own character in this story...it was such an unique way to bring all of the story lines together.

This book made me laugh, cry, and sigh with longing because I wanted to be a part of this family!. I think all girls should have the opportunity to grow up surrounded by a group of women who love, support, and cherish her. I can't believe that this is Beth's debut novel!! She certainly hit a home run with CeeCee and I am eagerly waiting for her next book.
Recommend? Absolutely! Especially for those that enjoy Southern fiction. This one has it all...family, drama, secrets, tears, love, heartbreak, and best of all- HOPE!!! ...more
* I wanted to be on this tour becauDescriptive Words: steamy, informative, magical, quirky, sexual, thought-provoking,
Why I wanted to read this book:
* I wanted to be on this tour because Diane @ Bibliophile by the Sea read this book earlier this year and loved it to pieces. After finishing I was absolutely in her camp!!
What worked for me:
* I loved all of the mythical folklore surrounding plants. I have never looked at any flower and thought any deeper about it than the color of the petals and the sweet smell it evokes. This book has made me think about flowers and plants on a much deeper and cellular level. * I adored Lila Nova, the main character. I loved her willingness to just go with the flow and to open her mind and horizons to new adventures. When she takes off for the Yucatan Peninsula I wanted to go with her!! * The cast of characters were wonderfully fleshed out and I felt myself gravitating towards them. I liked most of them and thought they really added to the story. * This book is filled with adventure...non-stop adventure towards the middle and end. I caught myself with one of those cheese-eating grins on my face several times as I was reading this. I suspended all sense of belief ,threw all cares to the wind and allowed this book to take over all of my senses. What an exhilarating ride! * I had no idea how sexual plants and flowers are!! Wow...all of that information was so much fun to read and at times I found myself blushing, but all in a good way!!
What didn't work for me:
* It all worked for me...every single word, every single sentence, every single character, the plot, the whole freaking story!!!

I truly was upset by the way his ex-wife and three daughters treated him, almost as if he was an afterthought. The story centers around a lost memory of Liam's and his family trivializes his NEED to know what happened. I could relate to the urgent desire to know the answers and felt Liam was treated with callousness. Liam seems to feel that way about himself too, until he meets a woman that gives him a glimmer of hope that he's not too old to have someone in love with him. Nothing terribly important happens in this book, it's not fast paced or a thriller, but rather a steady beating of the heart and how a person comes to find some satisfaction with themselves and with their life. ...more
