Written by "Carsen," the book reads exactly as he speaks and I kept hearing his voice in my ear. The tone is dry, yet haughty.
The book is amusing but is also a snapshot of a specific historical period and the lives of the working class within. The fact that it is about the most wonderful show increases it's appeal and if you need an extra dose of life at Downton Abbey, this is just the thing...more
This book is full of delightful surprises as Dooley shares the ways in which loved ones who have passed from this life into the next try to reach outThis book is full of delightful surprises as Dooley shares the ways in which loved ones who have passed from this life into the next try to reach out and talk to us. The sense of humor and yes, joy, that are found throughout this book are uplifting and provided a welcome respite from the grief I have felt since several family members passed in quick succession.
Sharing stories about the messages that spirits want to share with us about their new reality, Dooley tells not only the stories but the experiences of the departed. It is a very pleasant parallel world that one finds in this book and one that made me think differently about the after-life.
My favorite take away message is the radiant love found on the other side. No more fears, pain, or any of the thoughts that can be so disturbing in this world -- all replaced with light and love -- which the dead try very hard to communicate to us.
After reading this book I am more receptive to signs that my loved ones are trying to reach me and that is a very pleasant way to think. The sense of humor that runs through this book made me smile and that, in and of itself, is reason enough to read this book. Especially for those wrestling with grief....more

For those who are relatively new to the grief of intense loss there are suggestions for how to establish rituals to honor the person and in the process set the framework for reaching out for connection.
Chauran offers step-by-step instructions for varying methods for achieving connection and communication to those who have passed. Many of her ideas are beyond ones that I am comfortable trying, but some of them seem quite helpful. This includes the basic but sometimes effective act of simple prayer.
The information that I found the most helpful in this book were steps to take to help those left behind while still alive. A checklist is provided that was helpful to read. Suggestions for reaching out to those we love while we are still together were lovely -- including the most important but oft-forgotten act of telling each other how much love we feel and that the love is forever more.
This is an interesting read to be sure. While I liked the various suggestions, I was looking at the book to specifically address human/spirit communication. While Chauran does some of this, the other areas into which she delves do distract and aren't always what a reader might want to read if looking for specific guidelines....more
