Not that there aren't plenty of good books that are old, but older history books are often found to be lacking and obsolete eventually. Anyway, I have some unexplainable fascination with the country of Georgia. I've never been, I've never met anyone from there (though I do know someone that's been a few times) yet the place intrigues me. I saw this for sale and decided to pick it up.
There's nothing neutral at all about the writing style and that gets kind of obnoxious after a while. Additionally, the translator has added TONS of footnotes throughout the book and that's really distracting. He's added enough to where it significantly increases the length of the book. There are times where the footnotes take up 95% or more of the page and there are several instances of where there's literally one line of the original author's text and then a whole page of translator's notes. Very distracting.
