Anja Evans is the new Elder of the West! She's just a noob and now she has the seat of power. What can go wrong with this? Plenty, thank goodness we have Rob back in the picture. Unfortunately, she and her entourage needs to head back to the Vampire Gathering in London.
More Bishop, more Rob, more vampire politics and more wonky adventures in the life of Anja Evans. Even though Anja isn't the norm for an urban fantasy heroine, she is true to herself and the people around her. She's a force to be reckon with, so don't under estimate this newbie, she's strong and her passion to pushing humanity back into the vampire society will get herself into a heap of trouble.
Book 4..So good riddance to Bishop, he has too many ridiculous issues. Bishop stays in London and Anja heads home.

Anja is back in the states dealing with being the new Jarl of the Northwest and having a bit of a pity little old me party. Jakob steps in and lends Anja a shoulder to cry on, he's so intense, yet intriguing and ever so patient, but how long is that going to last?
My favorite part of this book is getting to know Rob some more, even though he had to leave Anja. Of course he couldn't just leave her unprotected, so he assigned a couple of vampire bodyguards to watch over her.
Brigit goes off with Felix. Anja and her new crew: Maggie and Ellie is crammed in back at her old apartment. It's fun to see how a newbie like Anja help out a newbie like Ellie. It's also nice to see Anja stepping up and commandeering when she needs to be.

Just when you think Bishop and Anja is going to have a happily ever after, he gets transferred to the Order's London office. During the time Bishop left, Anja being the danger magnet that she is, gets herself thrown into the middle of all things political. Anja decides to go to London for a surprise visit to Bishop.
Meet Felix, Warden of the West a cool guy that hooks up with Brigit. A new cast of characters to keep the story rolling.
London Order's HQ seems to be a complete mess and much more strict in protocol than the states. Bishop is too wrapped up tracking down a Vampire hunter to see what's going on with Anja. Basically too much drama, some mystery, insights on vampire politics and seeing what kind of trouble Anja can get herself into.
Anja isn't a very interesting character, but the players involved keeps this a good read. ...more

Everyone thinks Anja is one bad ass girl, since they think she killed Kursik. Of course, Anja seems to attract danger and this time someone is out to get her or at least all her clothing...being a poor college student, Anja had to sell her collectable Captain America doll for some fast cash.
Meet Jakob, gorgeous hunk with golden surfer boy looks. He steps briefly into Anja's life, but won't claim her in public. At least she knows who her sugar daddy is. Unfortunately this gives Bishop some competition to claim her himself, so instead he continues to act like an asshat. His love/hate feelings for her is getting pretty stale no matter how Anja throws herself at him. Really?
Meet Rob, he isn't quite human, he's a mystery. It's weird that he's dating Bridget, when he seems to have a lot more in common with Anja with all his little geekiness. He's a guy you love to have as a friend and someone just to hang out with.
Meet Mason, Bishop's friend and partner of the Order. He's also dating Anja's sister Hannah, comical!
Poor Anja, it's tough being a noob and even harder trying to get up in the daytime to get to classes on time. Lots of bumps and hiccups in Anja's life, it's what keeps the story an interesting read....more

Meet Bishop, vampire coMeet Anja Evans, a nerdy college student going to school studying voice. The story starts off with her waking up in the morgue.
Meet Bishop, vampire cop upholding the laws of the Order. He sees everything as black and white, his world is turned upside down when he tracks down Anja from the hospital asking for her license and registration.
An interesting world where vampires need legal papers or be chipped, without either of those the Order will prosecute and execute on site. Anja is a clumsy bumbling girl, definitely not your normal heroine and no way is she going to survive on her own. Through her eyes we learn what it's like to be a newbie and being adopted by Bishop to learn the ropes. Anja is a magnet for disasters to happen and the situations she gets into keeps the adventure rocking. Lots of characters and character building.
Not a big plot, unless you want to count who is Anja's sire? Anja is a lovable character, but how could you not love a girl who loves comics, video games and can quote lines from movies? A fun read....more
