I enjoyed it and liked the characters a lot - especially Eddie! :) A few of the plot points weren't much of a surprise, but I like the way she kept me on edge regarding the characters' HEA. I like how their relationship developed from strictly physical to something deeper - and J.R. didn't rush it. John and Grace are a good couple and, as JR (Jessica) says in the forward of the re-release, they're very much like Butch and Marissa. The fact that John is the kind of alpha male she writes so well made it easy for me to read this book - it was all too easy to picture him as a vampire :P
I was afraid that this would turn into a novelization of the film "The Bodyguard" - it held similar themes, but I feel JR set it apart from that story well enough. I just adore J.R. Ward and I look forward to the re-edits/release of her other contemporary work!(less)

The fallen angels series is definitely a little harder to get into than the black dagger brotherhood. The angels (Eddie, Aidan, and Jim) are interesting characters within the stories, but I don't think the cosmic war is detailed out as well as I'd like it to be. Of course, there's a twist in this book, so it's not quite as cut and dry as I expected when picking up the book, which was nice. I like this couple and after about 150 pages or so, I was completely caught up in the story. While some books steal me from page 1, so take a little longer to capture me. J.R. is so great at developing her characters and that's because it takes her 100+ pages to make us fall in love with them. In this book, she had to build the characters up from the ground, whereas in "Lover Mine," the main characters were so beautifully crafted over six novels that we were able to get into the deep-down psyches of the characters. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing these characters again, but I said that about Covet and so far we haven't seen them again. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in future novels! I'm an instant gratification kinda gal - which is why online shopping is so tough for me ;) These characters had already been developed to some extent and I loved watching their relationship develop. One of my favorite things about Adrian's books is how involved the women are in the Breed's war. They're particularly active in this book and I loved to see more of them and watch their relationships build stronger within their ranks. For some reason, Adrian's characters/stories don't stick in me the way J.R. Ward's do, but the story structures are quite similar. That being said, I may be able to quote the black dagger brotherhood, but Ward lacks in interactions between the women of the compound and I miss them. They appear once in a while (esp Jane) but I want to see the way the house interacts and see the friendship between the women that gets mentioned every so often. I like that Adrian's female characters are embracing of the new female and they create a spot for her within their circle and we see them interact by themselves.
I couldn't put this book down and I look forward to Adrian's next book.(less)

My brain can't handle the pairing... I need to read/finish City of Glass so I have some explanation for the 'ship. I really feel like my rating would be closer to the five star if the "pairing" were slightly different. And if you've read these books, you know what I'm talking about O.o

This book picks up IMMEDIATELY where Iron Kissed left of and I'm SOOOO glad! This book had me immediately - the Adam/Mercy relationship is developed more and I'm so on that 'ship haha I love the werewolf politics the most about this series and this book really gets into some of the interesting internal politics stuff :D(less)

The last 75-100 pages had me trying not to cry and scream at the same time. Can't wait to start Bone Crossed!(less)
