Sometimes I think it got off point a little, a couple times while reading I thought, What does this have to do with habits? Willpower, Predictably Irrational and Switch are all books of a similar theme, I think I liked Switch the most.(less)

I agree with a lot of his ideas. Whenever the government medels in our affairs it has unintended consequences that cause harm. (less)

Each chapter is a few pages, I skimmed some of the chapters that were written more as a reference for when you would need it - like maintenance stuff. The parts I really related to were about how bike racing culture has had a negative effect on recreational riding. You don't need expensive and fancy clip in pedals, spandex and a $4,000 bike to have fun riding - actually by not having these things you stand a better chance at enjoying yourself even more.(less)

As blog posts their great but reading in that format from cover to cover gets tedious. That said, this is a motivational read about getting over the fear and using the new digital revolution we are a part of to make the difference you were born to make. Not much new here though - was a little too similar to his last book Linchpin and if you read his blog, like I do, you've already read a lot of this. (less)

The commonly held idea to discover what your passion is and then find a job out there that matches it has never worked for me. First of all how do I figure out what I'm passionate about, and secondly how do I get someone to pay me for it? His points on how this passion mindset makes you uncertain, self-conscience and unhappy have been true for me. His alternative to the passion mindset - getting good at something so you can demand the benefits that passion provides, rings true with me. A must read for anyone starting out or early in their career path. (less)

The most startling observations for me were the disconnects between what we think we need and what we really do - like investing money in master bedrooms and backyards when we spend nearly zero time in them. The statistics about clutter, over consuming, and possessions were depressing. We Americans own, store, stockpile, keep and covet lots of stuff.(less)

I agree with the author that last decade should be called the "fail decade" and that the lack of trust in leadership in America is a big problem. Our meritocratic culture is in need of a reboot. The inequality in America between the haves and have-nots is cause for serious concern, especially as the haves continue to bend the rules in their favor which will continue to create failures that effect the have-nots disproportionately. I hate crony capitalism, it's the biggest problem in America today and this book stroked that fire a little more for me.(less)

It moves at a deliberate, slow pace which makes the middle 200 pages a little difficult. The last 100 pages fly by as the story reaches its climax. The history of Marconi and the beginnings of radio is fascinating. This combined with a murder mystery makes for fun nonfiction.(less)

His solution is more government spending. He explains why all the concerns that oppose this are wrong - crowding out private spending, inflation, concern about more debt, why the first stimulas was insufficient, consumer confidence in the economy. Also explains why the idea of more austerity right now is very wrong headed. I feel a little more educated but not convinced one way or the other.(less)
