MAN, I loved this! I can't believe I waited this long to read this thing (all the reviews my friends posted should have made it clear, don't you think?) and I'm so happy I finally did!
A broken world, filled with uncertainty, death and doom lurking around every corner.... Awesome! -fist pump-
Although it's something similar but very different, I couldn't help but be reminded of Dark Angel. I used to love that show (watch it if you can pretend to be oblivious to Miss Alba's amazing acting skills (yes, that was sarcasm, kids!)) We rely so very much on electricity and the safety of our own homes... Just imagining living in a broken down world is already scary enough. Seriously, think about it.
I could never stomach this if this ever got turned into a movie. There a lot of gore involved and I don't think there is a single scene where there isn't somebody who is bleeding (Raffe mostly).
I can't help but like Penryn. Looks like she had a hard life and things aren't exactly getting any easier. She is a bit slow on the uptake, I mean an angel with that kind of introduction who tells her his name is Raffe? I'm not into religion, but that probably would have been my first question. I just feel so bad about his wings, and his sword :( Gah, poor baby.
One thing did bother me though: the world broke down about 6 weeks ago, and it's too big of a wreck to be believable. I think more time should have passed for things to get that bad, but I can understand why it was written that way... I just hope certain things will be clarified once we get to read the next book. (can't wait! ♥ )(less)

Cause I have all these feelings 'n stuff.
Everybody seems to have read this book already, and I can't really blame them. In fact, why did nobody shove this into my face sooner, and by that I mean in the literal sense. As far as parties go, I'm late. Like clean-up-crew-late.
But I will keep on my party hat while I'm blowing one of those roll-up whistle things, dancing my ass off to the music playing in my head because sweet lord, I LOVED this thing and I want the world to know it!
I feel like packing my bags and jump on the next plane to Prague, hoping to get a glimpse of that trademark blue hair or spotting a burned hand print on a door.
I'm pretty much allergic to instant-attraction books, where the characters are constantly swooning over each other as soon as they meet, (keeping his hands off her was the hardest thing he ever had to doooo!!) and this was no different at first but you know what this book had? Back story. And quite a lot of it actually. AND IT MADE SO MUCH SENSE DAMMIT!
Towards the end, when it all started to become clear what was happening and more importantly, why it was happening, I kept fumbling around for the emergency brake, that's how much I didn't want this book to end.
I don't think there will be a lot of spoilers in here, but there might be some small ones, so be warned.

The most difficult reviews to write are about the books I liked. This is no different. I mean, what is there to say? So much and yet so little.
I've been spending months and months without reading a single page, feeling no need to read. My Kindle was feeling sad and lonely, constantly giving me those "don't you love me anymore?" looks and to be honest, it only made me feel worse. But my good(reads) friends managed to change that for me by recommending me this book. I loved every page of it :) and I'm really glad it helped me rediscover how passionate I am about books.
I'll be honest and tell you that for some parts of this book, I had no idea what was going on, or at least that's how it seemed. I feel like I understood nothing, and yet I adore this book, I don't know how that happened. (I can't explain it any better than this, and I do realize that what I am saying is pretty confusing too)
I could rant a little bit about how I don't really understand what makes Retra/Naif so special that everybody focuses on her. I know she's the main character, but there are at least 8 people fawning over her, and that was before she got "famous". But I loved the transformation she went through.
I could go on and on about how difficult it is for me to understand the world where Retra came from and the one she went to. They are both so different from our worlds and it's scary.
I'm going to give up on this nonsense so-called review, with just one last thing: Lenoir, what is your deal?(less)
