This was my first time reading anything by Agatha Christie and I found that this was a great book. Great narrative voice and story-telling. The facts were there but te mistery remained hidden until the last pages. The ending wasn't unexpected, but it was suprising. I never thought the author would go that route.
My only complain about this book is the pre-conceptions. First the suspitions fell on women, because a knife was used, then it fell on an italian, also because of the use of a knife. The princess? The duches? Not a 'fat' chance because they were aristocrats. The english? Too cold and level-headed for such fearsome murder? This was what bothered me. But t din't deter my enjoyment, mostly because it wasn't the main character (Poirot) who came up with these pre-conceptions. Still, it was annoying.
Aside from that, this was a very enjoyable book and I hope to read something else by Agatha Christie in the near future.(less)

This book was even crazier than I expect and I loved every bit of it. The plot is complete nonsense. Everything the reader imagines could happen, actually happens, and then the authors add a few more twists to it, making it a crazy-fest. The characters are amazing. Love them to bits, even if they are all a bit ... wrong in the head. Even if Brenda's case was pretty straightforward, after the middle of the book, things with Shane kept surprising me right until the end. Still, even with Brenda's case, it was loads of fun to read, even after finding out what was going on.
All in all, this was a fun read, and I hope to soon read something else by this duo of authors.(less)

As a mistery, this book wins! It's been a while since a mistery left me clueless as to who the murder was. And it's not that the pieces aren't there, but that the author plays them so well, we end up supecting everyone, except the real murderer. It was kind of fun, actually, to do this 'mind-game'.
My only three problems with this book were: Hammond. Alez and the sex.
Still, this was a very enjoyable read, and that's saying a lot, considering I'm not a fan of the genre. I'll definetly read something else of this author in the future.
Note: I won this book through First-Reads, and the author sent me the book and a book-marker, both autographed. Thank you!

I really loved Stephenia, and Joe was an amazing character as well. Actually all characters were intersting and well developed. The mistery was well played out and Stephanie's unique narration made for an enjoyable and laughable read.

My first contact with the most famous detective, was quite pleasant. Even though I'm not a fan of dialogues that sound like narrations, and the first two tales actually don't give us all the information we need to solve the cases, the writing is quite pleasant and the way the author conducts the "investigations" is very much amusing.
I'll come back to Sherlock Holmes soon enough.(less)

I'm not sure if it was the ammount of expectations I had on this book, or simply something else, but the fact remains I did not enjoy it as much as I was hoping.
The mistery had its "appeal", but its resolve didn't come to me as a surprise. I envisioned every turn before it came, and that was slightly dissapointing. Still, the two main characters were well explored, but unfortunetly the remaining ones weren't. In a book this size, I was hoping for some major character development, both on the protagonist and the "villains", but the later ones did not get it. Another thing that really bugged mer in the first half of the book, was the huge ammount of info-dump. I hate info-dump! And I guess that was the thing I liked less about the book.
Still, it was an enjoyable read and the second half of the book did manage to grip my attention (unlike the first). So I guess I was hoping for more, but am not completly unhappy with what I got.(less)
