Oh my God, I finally finished reading it. A Dance with Dragons is the 5th book of A Song of Ice and Fire series of George R. R. Martin. If you're a fan of the book you already knew that the 5th book is not a continuation of the 4th book, but still the continuation of the 3rd book A Storm of Swords. The 4th and the 5th book were actually just one book and the reason for dividing it to two books is that if the author decided to just make it one book it will be composed of 2, 000 pages which probably the reader wouldn't like because that would really look like an encyclopedia rather than a book.
And maybe if you have been my goodreads friend you have probably noticed that I'm a big fan of the book series . Actually I started reading it because I saw my father watching the TV adaptation and I'm also a big fan of the TV adaptation on HBO.
So you probably wonder why I gave it a low rating, but sadly I can only discuss my reasons through spoiling things or events that happen inside the book that I really don't like. So if you're okay with reading spoilers or you already read the book you are free to continue reading this review.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!!
Okay...So I guess if you truly have read the book you knew that George R.R. Martin killed Jon Snow in the book. I know that George R.R. Martin really kills major characters if he thinks it is truly necessary like Ned Stark, Rob Stark, Khal Drogo, Maester Aemon, etc. In fact, at first I kind of like that he kills characters because it truly shows that he's not afraid to take risks and it makes the story more believable and thrilling. However, I can't accept that he killed Jon Snow because he is one of my favorite characters and it is not easy for me to just shrug it off because I thought that Jon Snow is one of those characters that will live through the end. A lot of the fans speculated that he is not dead and he will survive, but I think that is impossible because he obviously got mortal wounds. Some even speculated that he can be undead like Catelyn because Melissandre can probably do some sort of magic to revive him. However, undead means like he will be more like a zombie and I don't want Jon Snow to be a zombie for God's sake. Maybe this will all be cleared in the 6th book whether Jon Snow is dead, alive or will become undead. However, knowing George R.R. Martin the possibility that he's dead is bigger and you know probably he's really dead and the fans like me just can't accept it. Like his father Ned and brother Robb. Dead and gone forever.
Secondly, I also dislike reading Cersei's walk of shame. In which to atone her sins she needed to walk naked, barefoot and shaved. Like they shaved her head and all of her body hairs like pubic hair, the hair on her legs, underarms, etc. Then, she was walking and all of these people (men, women, children) just look at her and shouting nasty words like they told her that her breasts are sagging and her body is ugly because it has stretchmarks and stuff like that. Also, they throw things at her, etc. Being a girl reading it feels like it was too cruel and even if I am not a fan of Cersei because she's a bitch and it's just I really don't like her. I can't really feel like it was appropriate to do that to Cersei. I really find it too cruel and misogynistic.
Third, I find the story very dragging and I know the author was really trying hard to get all of these subplots and major plots in this book. For me, it became really confusing and there are just a lot of characters and story arcs. Again, this is not the continuation of the 4th book. So the 4th book and the 5th book have the same timeline it just that, the difference is the setting and the characters. One story arc from the 4th book was continued in the 5th book and this is the Cersei Arc. Since in the 4th book Cersei was captured and in the 5th book the story continues for the atonement of her sins. So I just really find it confusing I know that the TV editors and producers will be having a lot of hard time arranging the arcs for the TV adaptation.
So that's it...2 stars and I really feel happy that I read this monstrous book series and now two more books to go. The 6th will probably release after five years so good luck to my memory. I wish I can still be a fan of this book series and finish it in the future. However, I probably will not re-read the books, but I will still continue to watch the next seasons of the TV adaptation.(less)

So before reading it I suggest you should answer these questions first:
1. Are you really ready to read a rant review about the book? 2. Are you intelligent and mature enough to know that people have diverse opinions and that you should respect other opinions as well even if it's different from yours? 3. Are you logical and respectful enough to post an argument about the book and not on the reviewer?

Sayang, sayang talaga...

4. Wala akong pakialam kahit kanino sa characters dito.
5. Napaka-boring as in define boring ang book na 'to! Sa sobrang boring di ko namalayan na nakatulog na 'ko, daig pa nito ang Valium.
Bob Ong please lang po di para sa'yo ang Horror balik ka na sa Comedy.
Final Verdict: EPIC FAYUL!
************************************************************* Note: This is just a letter to all my beloved trolls in this thread. Don't take this too seriously I am just being playful and childish when I made this one.
Dear Trolls,
Don’t judge me for giving this book one star. I didn’t like the book period and I have my reasons to support my rating. For the bloody second time in my opinion the book was overrated, boring, nonsense, lacks substantial plot, characters, conflict and horribly written.
If you probably gave me this book without telling me that it was written by Bob Ong I probably would not recognize that he authored the book. In fact I’m a hard core Bob Ong fan I’ve read all of his works and love it. Actually I gave 5 stars for his MacArthur, Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas, Alamat ng Gubat and ABNKKBSNPlaako?. While 4 stars was given to Stainless Longganisa and Kapitan Sino and 3 stars for Bakit Baligtad Magbasa ang Pinoy.
I do believe that everyone has different taste in books as well as in food, fashion, movies etc. But what’s important is being honest about what you feel on a certain thing. Would I rate this fake 2, 3, 4 or 5 though I didn’t like it, just because majority thinks it’s good? Or perhaps because it was a best seller? Or just because it was popular and the fact that Bob Ong wrote it?
I BEG TO DISAGREE!
Hey every book has a flaw and if a book is horrendous someone must stand and say, “Hey this book sucks in a major major way!” And there’s nothing wrong about that! I’ve read rant reviews of my favorite books like Catching Fire, The Forest of Hands and Teeth, City of Bones, The Book Thief, The Alchemist and the likes but I never bloody ranted on the reviewer’s comment section and tell his/her that his/her opinion was stupid and misleading. Because I bloody respect other opinions and I was simply amaze by the fact that people have different views and that makes us more interesting and that makes reading more interesting!
Should we not criticize Bob Ong because he’s a Filipino and he gave to charities? Should we exempt him from this rule: Hey every book has a flaw and if a book is horrendous someone must stand and say, “Hey this book sucks in a major major way!” I don’t think that’s right!
We judge a book base from the book, on how it is written, on what message does it left to the readers, and how the reader felt after reading it (Does he/she feels happy? Disturbed? Frightened? Annoyed? Disappointed? Or Amazed!).
As much as I wanted to say that we should exercise freedom of speech. You should not insult me and saying that I did not truly understand what I read, that I’m an awful person because I posted a negative review, and that I’m an astoundingly idiotic. Respect my opinion, if you say rude things to me and then I’ll say rude things to you as well. This is my thread! And every hate comments I can bloody read it dumbass!
If you disagree with me post your own review, do something else and stop trolling on my review or maybe you can just (coded message) instead!

Yeah and this filler novella was just like that but still the writing is not that bad and forgive me but I just felt annoyed that I think I just wasted my time on this one rather than having starting to read the next book Iron Daughter.
So yeah not a bad filler but not great either and to think that the scenes in this book were mentioned also in flashback in Iron Daughter. And I was like what the fudge, are you kidding me Julie Kagawa?
Good thing was this was actually a free e-book made by the author and she's not like Stephenie Meyer who was greedy and make a book The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella to just have money because surely her psycho fans will buy the book just for the heck of it.
So yeah Kagawa congratulations you're a better person than Meyer is lol.
Just read this if you wanna waste your time or you like Meghan and Ash together. Just don't expect that it will be great or anything^^. Actually this novella just made me excited to read Iron Daughter, in fact I planned to read Rebel Angels by Libba Bray first but after reading this I change my mind and will read Iron Daughter next. Okay I'm getting tired of downloading this on 4shared over and over again. Yep if you're wondering why I did not finish this and got up until half the book is because my downloaded copy was incomplete. And yeah I downloaded this twice already, so yeah sorry I give up >.<
Okay my review on the half of the book:
It was okay, somehow my questions about the 1st book was answered. Uhhm like they have discovered a cure on the mind reading thing. There's like a political intrigue going on here in which the Mayor say that the truth was altered and he actually was the good guy something like that. But I don't buy it, seriously, he's like Coin (ever heard of Mockingjay?).
And yeah the romance was sweet (did I say romance?) Todd and Viola were like mini-versions of Peeniss(that's PeetaxKatniss, you perv) in THG series by SC. Like the Mayor can use their feelings to blackmail them. Yeah I just wish they were older so that they can kiss and stuff like that. Yeah whatever don't mind me (>.<)
So yeah whatever(Is this the phrase of the day something something something?), I lost patience on downloading you over and over again(sorry for my redundancy). I'll just go to wikipedia...

The romance was still gushy and mushy but at least the dialogues were a lot better in the movie. Also the movie was more fast paced and was action-packed at the end of the show. I think the dog was really cute and Number Six was really cool in the movie. Sam was also likable in the film. After watching Alex Pettyfer act on the screen for the first time I got to say he deserve and he's fitted for the Peeta Mellark and Jace Wayland roles.
This looks pretty bad-ass and WTH, why was there a kissing scene? Die Diana Argon DIE!!!

COMPLETE AND EDITED REVIEW
What the hell!
For the love of Alex Pettyfer, I will watch the movie and will read this book!
***Note: The post above are my insane thoughts before reading the book, pardon my fan girling obscenities. Book Review below. ___________________________
***Note: Pardon the fan girling(for the second time), the review will contains lots of it. Enjoy ^^
(I'm not going to review the book yet(book review down there somewhere)...you can skimmed through, this is just my craziness.)
Move over BITCHES! Alex Pettyfer is MINE, MINE, MINE . *attacks another fan girl* (Sorry I just have a manic episode, I forgot to take Lithium Carbonate this morning *evil laugh*.) _______________________ (Again fan girling craziness...*you can skimmed through*)
Now before I'm going to review the book I'd like to tell you a story about how I met Alex Pettyfer (yum yum). Story time now! --So I read this book City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments Trilogy) by Cassandra Clare (If you haven't read this you're doomed!) and I was soooooooooo obsessed with it! Then I go to YOUTUBE and watch all this fan made videos of the book and I came upon this video wherein they posted their ideal casts for the movie something something something. Yeah and then Alex Pettyfer was the ideal cast for JACE WAYLAND *screams*. And when I see Alex Pettyfer "nalaglag panty ko" (translation: my panty falls off) figuratively . (Wait! What the hell did I just write, my panty falls off figuratively O_o????, forget I wrote that it's just my alter ego talking)
**Note: Okay I shut up for now, will continue tomorrow. The Mogadorians are attacking my house *panic, panic*. See you later, Alligater!
Fighting the Mogadorians OVER Now back to review...
IM BACK!!! Do you miss me? *nods* I miss you too! *VERY MOOCH!*
So where the hell are we? So as I was saying I love Alex Pettyfer from the moment I saw him I think he's the one I'm going to marry someday (Don't mind me it's my alter ego talking again). Nah I just think he looks like an angel that's all *scratch that I'm being cheesy*. _________________________ Okay fan girling over, I'm going to review the book now *I bet you're excited*
Dun Dun Dun Dun Ba Na Na Na
....BOOK REVIEW....
So Okay, The Book Started Like This:
THE EVENTS IN THIS BOOK ARE REAL. NAMES AND PLACES HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO PROTECT THE LORIEN SIX, WHO REMAIN IN HIDING. TAKE THIS AS YOUR FIRST WARNING. OTHER CIVILIZATIONS DO EXIST. SOME OF THEM SEEK TO DESTROY YOU.
My Reaction To That Was: *Epic Face*(please don't ask me what my epic face looks like) Awesome!!! *jumps up and down*
--Kidding, that didn't really happen ^^...Wait are you disappointed?--
My Real Reaction To That Was: ANAK NG TOKWA! ANONG KALOKOHAN 'TO
Okay wait I'll translate it for you Not Pinoy Folks *panic panic* (Translation: WTF IS THIS! .<) I'm not a translator 'kay *hides from Translator Nazis*>)
So my point is the book is ridiculous (Come on!!!), from the first page I know it will suck but I continue reading anyway *blame this on my fan girling*.
Okay to make this review somehow organize, I'm going to use Pros and Cons *sorry I'm that obsessive-compulsive*.
Pros (a.k.a the good stuff): 1. There is a scene wherein Alex Pettyfer Number Four will only be in boxers. (Sweeeet^^) 2. There is a scene wherein Alex Pettyfer Number Four will be on the shower. (Drools^^) 3. There is a scene wherein Alex Pettyfer Number Four will be shirtless because his shirt was burned. (DIE BITCHES!)
--Okay Pros over, on with the cons--
Cons (a.k.a the things I complained about) 1. The book is ridiculous (wait I already said that, sorry!). In fact this is so ridiculous I need to repeat myself, that's how ridiculous it is. Say it again -- RIDIKKULUS -- (using your Harry Potter voice) *too weird scratch that* 2. This is just overrated. 3. The story reminds me of Dragonball Z. 4. The book for most parts is booooorrrrrrriiiing. 5. Bombarded with cliches, it was predictable. 6. I can't really get into the story, the premise was great but after few pages I don't care about the story and the characters. 7. The author was also a character of the book (Pittacus Lore whoever you may be, Gimme a break!) 8. The romance is mushy!!! *is this MG book or something?* 9. When the plot moves the author uses ridiculous deux-ex-machinas. (again with the word ridiculous is that the word of the day? something something something) 10. The ending was like *Author: Wait I need to have some action now there are a few pages left*--put Number Six in (done)-- put the Scouts (done)-- put the Beasts (done)-- put the soldiers (done).....-- more beast more beast (done)-- change the dog to beast (done)-- add another superpower for the nth time (done)-- kill someone, got to kill someone (done) "Dunn'it!" 11. I lol at this (considered that an understatement!)
About the Author PITTACUS LOREis Lorien’s ruling Elder. He has been on Earth for the last twelve years, preparing for the war that will decide Earth’s fate. His whereabout’s are unknown.
Okay the book was OKAY. It wasn't that bad but I really didn't like Alien stories.
MENTAL NOTE TO SELF: Don't ever read something about ALIEN again
Wait there's more: Fan fiction: Alex: What two stars? Why? Self:I don't like alien stories 'kay, I just read it because of you. *winks at Alex* Alex: So aren't we going to watch the movie anymore? Self: The hell! I'm going to still watch it okay, you're there for the love of God! Alex: Okay stop being upset, come here.. **Note: Next scenes were deleted due to Goodreads censorship**
***Movie Update: I just saw the movie today and I have to say that it was so much better than the book! The pacing was great, the actress who played...more
***Movie Update: I just saw the movie today and I have to say that it was so much better than the book! The pacing was great, the actress who played Lisbeth Salander nailed the role and all the Financial Journalism nonsense was obliterated. Even the Blomkvist-Cecilia love affair was not seen. The movie has awesome camera shots and it was a very good adaptation of the book. Even made the book amazing in my eyes. Now I'm really confused why I don't think that the book was awesome when I read it. Well I'll just blame it on the author's writing. I'll caution on some disturbing rape scenes, nudity, foul language and violence on women though. (R-18 and not for sensitive audience.)***
Book Review: Caution: The book contains rape, incest and misogyny, if you don't like to read a book that sick and disturbing don't read this. Review may contain spoilers.
Pros: 1. The book is a mystery/crime/suspense/thriller ergo a breath of fresh air for a reader of paranormal, fantasy and romance genres.
2. The book has an interesting heroine in the name of "Lisbeth Salander" who was four feet 11, antisocial, anorexic and has no boobs, but inspite of that was an exceptional hacker with a photographic memory. Not to mention she got piercings and tattoos that's why she's so bad ass. (She's the girl with the dragon tattoo so to speak.)
3. Cool thing was the murderer uses Bible verses and then parodied it into his crimes.
4. The book also talks about hacking and you will also learn a thing or two about poisons.
Cons: 1. I hated books that have slow pace and definitely this book was slow as a slug. The action sets in only on the second half of the book.
2. Pointless, pointless details! The author would describe clothes, sandwiches, and writes just anything the character was doing (drinking coffee, jogging or reading a particular book).
3. The casual sex! Blomkvist would have sex with Berger and then later on would also have sex with Cecilia and then much later on would have sex with Lisbeth. Surprisingly no one got Syphilis at the end.
4. The book talks a lot about Financial Journalism wherein from the first chapter had irritated me because I don't have a f****** clue what they're talking about and I don't even care about Financial Journalism that it really makes me bored to sleepiness (I even skimmed on the epilogue because I really don't give a damn).
5. Plot too many (to put it simply).
6. Rape scenes of Lisbeth was SICK!
7. Predictable and cliche: - Blomkvist go to Martin's House - Martin locked Blomkvist on the basement - Martin was the murderer. - Just as about the murderer would kill Blomkvist, Lisbeth came. - Blomkvist was saved of course. - Martin escaped. - Lisbeth followed Martin's car on the road using her motorcycle. - Martin's car was hit by the truck (talk about ANTICLIMACTIC!)
8. The Mystery ended with this: Gottfried was a sick murderer, he loves killing women, he taught his son Martin about it too. Martin also loves killing women too. Gottfried rapes her daughter Harriet. Harriet killed his father. Martin witnessed the incident. Martin rapes her sister. Harriet cannot tell anyone about it because Martin would tell everyone that she kills their father. Harriet was not murdered when she disappeared on Hedesby Island, she only escapes, she was alive and she was living on Australia using Anita's identity. (I was disappointed by it because I was really expecting she was murdered and the murderer was a genius to hide the evidence, but it was just Harriet escaping WTF!) ___________________________________________________________________ I'm so happy I've found a copy on Booksale for only Php130.00!(less)

Book Review
I really feel bad not liking this book because
1. it is a popular book and I know I am a minority for giving it 1 star
2. the book was given to me by K. D. during the meet-up of The Filipino Group in Goodreads last December
and
3. Neil Gaiman is my friend here in Goodreads actually, he's kind enough to accept my friend request (now I don't know if he'll delete me)...Gomen ne Gaiman-san...
*deep breath*
So I know I know I'm a terrible person *please spare my life*
--moving on--
Okay now...I'll just explain/enumerate things that I don't like about this book.
1. Too many weirdly named characters that are hard to memorize (and some of them I think does not contribute to the plot, they are unnecessary and pampagulo as we put it in Tagalog)
for example Mad Sweeney, Low-Key Lyesmith, Czernobog, Mr. Ibis, Mr. Jacquel, Whiskey Jack, Zorya Utrennyaya, Zorya Vechernyaya, Zorya Polunochnaya, Mr. Nancy, Easter, Hinzelmann etc.
2. Too many subplots and too much dicking around that only slows the plot and makes the book uninteresting. It just seems like all these weird unexplained things happening and I don't know I just got lost and I felt that all I'm reading is nonsense and a giant pile of random mess.
3. It is immensely boring and nothing interesting was happening. I just find myself dozing off after reading a few pages. It really makes me sleepy. The book was not funny, horrifying or even entertaining. I don't know, reading it I just feel detached and really bored. I think this is one of the most boring books that I've read.
4. The ending was a cop-out and it reminds me of Breaking Dawn and Claymore. This is a very thick book and it is always mentioned that a big storm was coming and that there will be a war between the Old Gods and the New Gods. However in the end of the novel, the war didn't happen. It was just a conversation between Shadow and the Gods and it's like this (kinda)
Shadow: Fuck you Gods: Fuck you too! Shadow: Assholes
*The Gods go home because they realized they're assholes
--End of Story--
WTF? Okay that was a horrible reenactment but I'm not kidding about the war not happening and the Gods *shoulder shrug* just go home, drunk their ass off, cook, have sex, whatever.
(^_________________________________^)
Yeah I was just disappointed and a bit angry because this is like 500 pages long, what a waste of time.
I recommend it if you're like having trouble sleeping *coughs* just kidding.
Idk as I've said I'm a minority and maybe you'll like it. You never know right? Unless you try. So read it, you might like it more than I do.
Note: I'll not be reading and reviewing books until July. And I'll be inactive and I'll miss you guys. I really feel bad that I'll be leaving with a rant review. However I'll see you guys soon and hopefully I'll enjoy reading my next books. Also believe it or not I really hate hating books because I love books but that's the way it is.(less)

My slightly long intro ***Book Review down there somewhere***
Okay I didn't like it and I just wanna say that I read Graceling before this and I really like Graceling. After I read it in fact I consider reading Fire next but because of the bad reviews I've read here in goodreads I decided to maybe not read it and I'll just wait for Bitterblue, the third book to come out.
However when Graceling became our Monthly book Challenge in our group here, most of the group members decided to read Fire since they really like Graceling too and one of my friend here Jeneroso send me a message if we can read this book together as reading buddies. And since I have already a copy and, you know, I like the previous book, so...why not?
So hooray I read it and finished it, finally, but truth is...the book bored me (run away from Cashore's fans). Yeah sorry for all those who love the book, this review might be offensive. So here it goes...
My Problems with Fire aka why oh why the 1 star rating? :( ***Contains SPOILERS!!!***
Problem # 1 The book is immensely boring and it's plot less. So okay maybe it has a plot or rather too many subplots and maybe the problem with it is it's confusing or maybe too complicated. The stories are not really structured, the pacing was off and it really drags.
Problem # 2 The relationship of Fire and Archer was another of those Cashore's Anti-Marriage and Pro-Sex Scheme. So these two are not really married and they are like friends and then one time they decided to be "fubus" or fucking buddies or friends but with benefits.
I just find it really odd and Graceling btw was also like this. Katsa and Po decided to not marry because Katsa didn't want to but she said it's okay for them to have sex even if they're not married, something like that. So Sex...Yey! :), Marriage...Ney! :(.
I'm thinking because her two books are like this maybe Bitterblue have this formula, of course. And I'm not really happy if she'll write it that way.
Problem # 3 Fire.
My problem with Fire is that she's always guarded. Like I think she has more than five or six guards, I can't really recall the numbers. But I think that the author wanted me to think that Fire was a strong female character like Katsa but in this story it doesn't work that way because she's always protected and guarded. So I'm not really impressed with her character. Truth is I find her character very weak.
Problem # 4 Archer, the Casual Sex, the HerbsContraceptives, and the Unwanted Pregnancies.
So people pardon my french, but I really wanted to say this, Archer is such an arse. As I mentioned before, Archer and Fire are fubus but then Fire sort of break up with Archer. Then Archer became heartbroken and he decided to have sex with Mila and Clara instead (Really, Archer? What a d***!). Fire actually learned about it and she's sort of okay with it, I think.
So here's the other part of the story. Fire was actually taking up herbs that prevented her from being pregnant and eventually she became somewhat infertile because of it and she can't produce a child anymore. (It took me a while to understand why Fire need to take contraceptives but it was explained that she need to take it because her father thought that another Human Monster like Fire will be a problem.) She also give the herbs to Mila and Clara because she knew about Archer having sex with them.
However the contraceptives or rather the herbs failed. Clara didn't take them up because of the side effects like she didn't want to be nauseated, so of course she didn't take the herbs. Mila on the other hand forget to ask Fire about extra herbs because she have taken them already up and I think she missed a dose something like that. Eventually they both became pregnant.
My Final Thoughts
I don't know what's wrong with it or maybe I was the one who's wrong, but I simply didn't care. It's like I read it for the sake of finishing it. Just because I love Cashore and Graceling. But really Fire failed, it was boring and somewhat I wanted to think that maybe minus the casual sex maybe I would like it more but no. Maybe next time, I still think that Cashore can write but she really should stay away from the Third Person POV (you're better with the First Person :)) and the Anti-Marriage Thingy (which is getting really disturbing). (less)
I really wanted to like the book. I really do. However I was really disappointed. Maybe it was due to:
a)awful writing b)cheesy dialogues c)annoying characters d)unbelievable mix of plots from Twilight, Hush Hush and Evermore
or
e) all of the above
*sigh*
It was just OKAY for me so I gave it 2 stars. It's just that the whole book is pretty damn boring and I really don't get it (the whole shadow thing and the war thing).
I don't know maybe I'm abnormal or whatever, because my friend really love this book and they will also make a movie out of this book. And what was really disturbing for me is Disney will be the one to make this into a movie and after reading it I felt like: ARE THEY SERIOUSLY MAKING THIS BOOK INTO MOVIE!!!(Sorry for the Caps Lock) I mean, come on there are much more great books out there! Hush hush is much even better book than this one!
And there's also one scene wherein Cam like insulted the souvenirs made from the Philippines and that really made me hate this book even more. Yeah enough said. Gosh I don't even know if I'm still interested to read the sequel. _____________________________________________________________________________ Disney will make a movie out of this, here's the link:

This book is a classic example of a horrible imitation of Twilight, Evermore and City of Bones .
Add some cliches, one-dimensional hot guy, annoying, whiny, suicidal, boring, petty, clingy, stalkerish, slutty, stupid female heroine Nora Grey aka The New Bella Swan , with a pinch of Anti-Feminism and damn add that gorgeous silver cover and TADAAAAAAA!
We had this 100% CRAPTASTIC BOOK!!!
If you're in the right mind please don't read this crap it's just twilight with fallen angels instead of sparkly vampires, duh. And seriously do you want to read another book about a Bella Swan character falling for Edward Cullen character for no apparent reason other than the guy is hot?

(Those are truly life and perspective changing...)
I loved it. It was funny, dark, sexy and dangerous. It was a mix of romance, paranormal, mystery and suspense thriller. I loved the dialogues and I'm quite surpised that i've found my self laughing as Patch and Nora argues or talk to each other. I loved the chemistry between the two, Patch he's just so adorable, naughty and hot.
I'd also how the story ended and the twists at the end. I think it's a good book all and all. I really liked it.
Scratch, scratch everything out...Sorry for the change of heart.(less)

The romance is also pretty subtle. I'm not really recommending to read this if you don't like twilight and if you like twilight it's a nice short filler to read.
I think that the story is not really that gripping and my fave parts are mostly when Diego and Bree are together but it was lost I think in the middle of the book when Diego was gone. Their relationship reminds me of Pretties Tally and Zane because like them these two confide with one another, after realizing that somehow they're pawns in these battle.
I've read a lot of vampire stories/books at the moment and my problem with twilight is the "vampires sparkle" thingy which is what I really hate while reading this, I mean SM have a different perception about vampires but I think even the newborns act civil, Bree even she's like three months old she can control herself. It's just that these are vampires that you'd not be scared of they're somewhat soft IMO.(less)

Okay the last book of the series...
Wondering what "Last Sacrifice" means???
My speculations on who kills the Queen, I think it's probably Victor Dashkov since he is free now or maybe one of the royals I bet it's Adrian's father.
I'm Team Adrian, but if it's going to be like Twilight, then Rose and Dimitri would be together at the end, I'd just hope something happens like Dimitri die or whatever lol.
I think if they find Lissa half-brother/sister, then she'll be the next queen for the Moroi Society.
I bet Rose will be a fugitive and Abe's the one would help her.
I just wish the ending would not be too much of a happy ending like what happens in Breaking Dawn, when they don't fight in the battle so no one major dies.
***Thoughts after Reading This One*** Note: First I'd like to say that I'm really confused on how to rate this one thus I have two ratings. If I will base it just on pure emotions alone or how I felt about the book in general I will rate this one star. However, if I put my emotions aside and judge the book rationally I will have given it a five star. But I favor my emotions rather my reasoning so it has a one star rating displayed up there. But just to be cleared I repeat that this is a one and five star book at the same time.
And then there will be SPOILERS, Fudge these SPOILERS! Note: Skim this one, this is just a crazy letter, bear in mind that I'm still emotional.
Dear Self,
I hate you.
I really hate you!!!
Why, why are you always like this? Why do you always side on the second guy in a love triangle? Is that a sickness of yours or something? First in Twilight you're Team Jacob right? And didn't you ever learn your lesson in that that the second guy will always be fucked up by the heroine in the end. That they will just be trashed and dumped out like stupid piece of shit! But you always team up with them don't you? You still always most often than not love the second guy rather than the main guy right?
You pissed me off. Look you already know how it will end (Are you really that dumb?) since this one is what exactly happens in Eclipse too! But what did you do? You still hope and have that wishful thinking that Adrian and Rose will end up together. That Dimka will die. That Rose and Adrian will end up having little dhampir babies and that will be the solution to their dhampir-will-be-extinct problem. But girl you're so wrong don't you? Because Richelle Mead broke your heart into microscopic pieces of myocardial cells! Rose not only break up with Adrian, but she cheated on him. She had sex with Dimka even before breaking up with Adrian! What an irony is it right? You're crying and losing your mind reading a sex scene because of the reason that you felt cheated too!
And now you still don't learn do you? You still would have those naive fantasies that Puck and Meghann will end up in Iron King Series, Bianca and Balthazar will be together in Evernight Series and Jem and Tessa in Infernal Devices series. Please it will never ever be a possibility, so I beg you don't fool yourself into thinking about it!
Sincerely yours,
Evil Alter Ego
******************************************************* The Five Stages of Grief as Applied to my Dilemma Note: Please don’t take this seriously. It’s only fictional. Denial: Friend: Hey have you read the Last Sacrifice? Self: Yeah Friend: Really, do you like it that Rose and Dimka ended up together? Self: What? Have we read the same book? Rose and Adrian ended up together! GEEEEZ!
Anger Friend: Hey are you okay? Self: I’m not okay! I felt I want to punch Dimitri and Rose in the face if that will ever be possible! I’m so angry right now! Really Dimitri and Rose go to hell! I can’t even believe that Rose cheated on Adrian! What the hell’s wrong with that woman? I really want to kill her! Gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr...... *attacks someone innocent who happens to pass by*
Bargaining Friend: Hey what are you doing? Self: I’m writing a letter to Richelle Mead, don’t bother me! Friend: Huh I thought you’re angry at her last book. Why are you writing to her then? Self: I just say to her that if she will change her last book I will be her servant forever and I’m going to clean her house and wash her laundry and cook for her, you know the usual stuff. Just, just change all the things she wrote in the last book and make Adrian and Rose ended up together. Friend: What the hell! You’re kidding right? Self: No! I’m dead serious! Friend: *nervous laugh* ah okay *walks out of the room*
Depression Friend: Hey do you want to go out tonight! Self: I don’t want to do anything *cries and hugs friend* Friend: What, what’s wrong? Self: I don’t want to live knowing that Rose and Adrian don’t end up together. I just wanted to cry all day long. Friend: Hey you are still not through with Rose and Adrian not ending up together? Come on girl where’s your back bone? Move on, get a life already! Self: I can’t. I simply can’t. *cries and wails*
Acceptance Friend: Wow someone looks happy today. You look good are you through with the drama huh? Self: Yeah shut up! *shoves friend* I’m feeling okay now, I think Rose and Dimitri deserve each other, right now I really don’t care about them. Friend: But what about Adrian huh? You still felt mad about what happen to him. Self: Hell no! I think Rose didn’t deserve him, you know what I think I should just keep Adrian to myself. Rose can go to hell with Dimitri, Adrian is MINE, thank you Rose for giving him up to me! We deserve each other more! Friend: What? It’s a good thing you get past that but seriously friend, I think you have another problem, you now have delusions!
*************************************************************** Book Review (Finally! I think this should be my longest review ever, why the hell are there so many intros? O_o)
Let start with the good stuff...
Why-oh-why the 5 star rating? 1. The cover’s gorgeous, that’s a plus! 2. The title was also good “Last Sacrifice” though I really don’t get what the hell is the so-called “Last Sacrifice” in this book. Please someone explain that to me on the comment section. 3. Rose POV is sarcastic, witty and funny as always that it never fails to crack me up. 4. Abe Mazur was funny as hell as always. 5. Sydney the alchemist was backed. 6. We get to go to different places, like the community of the Keepers, Sonya’s crib, etc. 7. The Politics! Gosh I love all of that! The election of the new Moroi Queen and Lissa’s tests are really exciting and different as she pass onto another level, like there’s a test for physical, emotional and intellectual. 8. I love the final test; the question was like, “What must a queen possess in order to truly rule her people?” And actually Lissa’s answer to that shocked me and I love it. 9. I love Lissa in this book I think she had that sort of character development in this one. I kind of underestimated her because in the previous books I really thought that she was a weak character, but in this one she really did grow and I believe that she’ll be an amazing queen. 10. I also love Sonya Karp I think she has all that wonderful quotes in the book and I was really glad that she and Mikhail finally reunite. 11. I also love Christian in this one even though I missed his firefighting coolness. All of his scenes were like a good ‘ol boyfriend to Lissa, but at least those happens to be sweet moments in this book that all of a sudden I really wanted to be Lissa. 12. I really love the murder mystery aspect of the book, I must admit that tuuuut as the Queen’s murderer was not that really shocking since someone already spoiled it to me in the comment section *coughs* (lol I’m just kidding) but seriously as you go along the book there were clues that actually you really would have guessed that tuuuut was the one who did it. 13. Okay let’s talk about Lissa’s sister, that kind of shock me because I really thought that what they will meet was a new character of the story, but it was tuuuuut(OMG) though yeah I was kind of happy about it because I kind of love her from the previous books. 14. OMG Tuuuuuut died and tuuuut killed her because she kinda lost herself because of Spirit-induced anger. I think it was quite shocking but I really don’t care about it because I really think that character deserved to die anyway. 15. Victor and Robert team up with Rose’s team I think that was also surprising and thrilling at the same time. I also love the part when they fight and like Sonya use Spirit and then Robert uses spirit too and Victor uses earth. It was pretty epic like an anime fight scene. 16. Yeah in general I did think that this was an amazing book and an amazing series (just minus the Adrian part). It was fast-paced, full of twist and turns, the characters are all great, it was thrilling and just simply amazing.
Why-oh-why the one star rating? 1. Rose cheated on Adrian. Really Rose out of all the people! (T_T) you’re unbelievable!( I would like to share some passages from the book, that really made me want to rip the book in half)
Page 417: We touched in no other way, but his hand held all the warmth in the world. This was hardly a perfect moment, like in the library, but our familiar connection and the understanding between us burned brighter than ever, and it felt good. Right. Natural. I didn’t want to sleep. I just wanted to stay there and savor being with him. It wasn’t cheating, I decided, thinking of Adrian. It was just enjoying this closeness. ***Oh really Rose? Fudge you!***
Note: this next scene happen after Dimitri and Rose had sex. Page 488: Regardless, I couldn’t lead him on after sleeping with Dimitri. It hadn’t been murder, no, but it had certainly dishonourable. Yet...I couldn’t say any of that to Adrian now, I realized. I couldn’t break up with him in a dream. That was almost as bad as a text breakup. Besides, I had a feeling that...well, I’d probably need his help. So much for honor. Soon, I swore. Soon I’ll tell him ***Rose you’re the worst living creature ever! (T_T) You’re not only a cheater, but a liar and a user as well!***
2. Worst break-up in the history of my reading books ever!
Page577:”I loved you!” he yelled. He jumped up out of his chair so quickly I never saw it coming. “I loved you, and you destroyed me. You took my heart and ripped it up. You might as well have staked me!” The change in his features also caught me by surprise. His voice filled the room. So much grief, so much anger. So unlike the usual Adrian. He strode toward me, hand clasped over his chest. “I. Loved. You. And you used me the whole time.” ***WTF! This kills me! (T_T)***
I really hate this! I hate Rose and Dimitri! If I ever saw Dimitri in person I’m going to do this
Calm down, calm down, calm down...
Okay so much for drama, I just want to say that I still love the series and I still love Richelle Mead (though you did break my heart) and I’ll still wait for the sequel to come out and for the movie as well.

Ever the main protagonist is just annoying, stupid and petty.
Her relationship with Damen also seems superficial and I don't get that the story was like, "Would Damen and Ever finally seal the deal and have sex after 400 years of their love found and love loss story?" I think it's a great premise to have a story of undying love that passes through centuries like they're soulmates whatever but if the author would seem to drag this sex drama I don't want to read any further if that would be the conflict of this book.
I wanted the relationship of Damen and Ever to be emotionally centered because I don't really get this "Love at first sight thing" going on and it seems that sex or not having sex for the last 400 years make their relationship. I think it's stupid and pathetic and I don't really know things about Damen, he's not really being described and his character was not really shown yet. I just hope in the next books there would be character development.
But still I'm glad I've read this because of the information about different kind of crystals and what are there purposes. I just feel like if the book focuses on more interesting things like chakra, crystals, and lot of the supernatural thing going on it would be more interesting. (less)

The book for me was okay it could be amazing but my problem with the book was it's completely plotless, plotless, plotless, and it was also extremely slow in pace.
I think the last part of the book was the only one that makes sense that I thought finally that...okay, somehow it has a plot and probably I would still be reading the last book.
I don't know, it's just while reading this it's like nothing was really happening until the last part when finally something happened. And the additional characters Cole and Isabel...I really don't get them, I really didn't feel like they have chemistry or whatever.
But still it's really okay for me, because for most parts it didn't give the feeling of excitement. The book was more on romance than action and the conflict mostly was with Sam and Grace's parents which I don't buy. I also felt that when something like supernatural like being a werewolf and then it would be explained scientifically somehow it became unrealistic and surely it will contain major plot holes. I just didn't get the theory yet it seems hard to believe and it was also not explain very well.
But if you like Shiver, it's okay to read it, just don't have high expectations so you'd not be disappointed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow this book series has excellent beautiful book covers. Love the title!(less)
(A super rushed review coming from a still emotional Peeniss (PeetaxKatniss) and Finnie (FinnickxAnnie) fan, please forgive my obscenities and my nonsense ramblings. This is not a rant, or maybe it is, but don't worry Collins, I still love you sweetheart.)
Finally I finished reading this disturbing book. Please, please, please don't let that baby blue color cover of this book fooled you. The book is intense, horrifying, scary, sad, tragic, creepy and sick. I actually have two ratings for this book, I'm still undecided if I'm going to give five stars or one star rating. I don't want to settle it on three stars because it doesn't make any sense, it's either of the two I guess, either it's amazing or I don't like it at all.
Why-oh-why the five star rating? 1. I still love the book and I still think Suzanne Collins is an alien I mean a genius who had these out of this world ideas that perhaps I wouldn't think in a million years.
2. The book has its depth, I mean this is a very serious, powerful thought provoking and mind-blowing book. The message and the content are strong, and sometimes I do get the feeling that maybe the problem is me and not the book.
3. God damn it! Every end of the chapter of this freaking book is like WTF moments. It's like the inevitable, dreadful, most shocking events are most often than not are at the end of the chapters and that was really amazing in the part of the author.
4. I really have these hysterical moments wherein I just scream Peeta's name over and over, and then I cry like WTF is happening to me. I swear thank goodness, I am inside my room and no one's watching me so that I can freely scream, cry, become hysterical without someone thinking I'm going crazy. This was the only book that had me lost my mind while reading it. I swear I became too emotional like I feel like I'm going insane.
5. This book definitely and undoubtedly has the ability to haunt you, as in after reading the book, I can't stop thinking about it, even I dream about it that I have nightmares for two nights now, Suzanne Collins what have you done to me???!!!!
6. I really love the song "The Hanging Tree" even though it's really creepy.
7. I love love love Finnick. I guess one of my favorite moments in the book is when Annie and Finnick reunites, it's just too sexy. It's just too sad though that Finnick is dead like I want to say fuck you! Why do you have to kill Finnick after the wedding and all that you would kill him off? I just want to yell at the author I'm so pissed off.
8. I love the intrigue like at the beginning I know there's something wrong with District 13 and President Coin. I love that Katniss chose to kill Coin instead of Snow that really blindside me like totally didn't see it coming. I love how the truth was being altered by these manipulative politicians. I don't want to elaborate, but I just love the turn of events in the end, what can I say, but brilliant3x!
9. The epilogue is so sad and touching and I really like it because Katniss and Peeta end up together and then they have kids, and there's no more hunger games, happily ever after.
Why-oh-why the one star rating? 1. Almost all the characters that I love from the first two books, I hate in this book. I hate Gale! yeah yeah especially him! There are many moments wherein I really don't trust him and then I really wanted that some bomb would kill him or whatever. I don't know, but I really hate him like he's so heartless with what he did in District Two and then the bomb that killed Prim, was his design, I think he goes off to District Two because I think in the end he can't face Katniss anymore after what he did even if it's indirectly to Prim's death. I also hate Katniss, I know that she was being manipulated, brainwashed, used like a puppet/tool/pawn by Coin and the given circumstances, but she really break apart in this book. She gave way to morphling and insanity, and her being the Mockingjay is a little bit scripted. The propos too flashy and cheesy (the costumes, make-up and all those fake smoke) that it was more ridiculous than real for me.
2. She killed off Finnick and it's too gruesome as in ewww and there's like many more disturbing moments in the book wherein I think it's really hard to read because it's too much gore really, with images of blood, intestines, blown extremities. The violence is just too much especially to the children, when they are being used as a trap and then their bodies just blown off. I mean it's just too dark that I really don't like it.
3. The romance is just like Twilight like when Gale and Peeta were talking and I was like I felt I read something like this when Jacob and Edward were also talking while Bella is eavesdropping. I was like while reading that part, WTH is this twilight or something?
4. Gale leaves Katniss off and live on District 2 and Katniss ends up with Peeta in 12. I know even though Katniss has finally made the decision, I just want it to be fair like, why did Gale if she really loves Katniss, just leaves her and work on District 2, doesn't make sense to me even if I hate Gale.
5. The deaths of the other characters are not known like what happens to Cinna, Portia, Madge, etc. they just mentioned in the book that they're dead.
6. A minor character replaced Coin as the new president, which also disappointed me because when she was mentioned it was funny that I don't remember her right away.
7. Another ridiculous death scene is how President Snow dies, it was unclear and utterly unrealistic.
8. I know this is a war story and that's why the plot is a big mess, but somehow I was hoping for a moment of redemption or justice in the storyline. Somehow the reason for fighting was lost, the humanity and the morality were lost and in the end I really question the rebels' actions because their actions were verging on revenge. And still confused me why did Katniss vote yes for another Hunger Games and this time for the children of Capitol, I believe that this is very controversial and I need the author to explain this to me.
Favorite Quotes: "I'm going to be the Mockingjay."
"Some walks you have to take alone"
"Finnick!" Something between a shriek and a cry of joy. A lovely if somewhat bedraggled young woman--dark tangled hair, sea green eyes--runs toward us in nothing but a sheet. "Finnick!" And suddenly, it's as if there's no one in the world but these two, crashing through space to reach each other. They collide, enfold, lose their balance, and slam against a wall, where they stay. Clinging into one being. Indivisible. A pang of jealousy hits me. Not for either Finnick or Annie but for their certainty. No one seeing them could doubt their love."
"You're a painter. You're a baker. You like to sleep with the windows open. You never take sugar in your tea. And you always double-knot your shoelaces."
"Peeta and I had adjoining cells in the capitol. We're very familiar with each other's screams."
"Oh, that I do know...Katniss will pick whoever she thinks she can't survive without."
"That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that."
"You love me. Real, or not real?" I tell him, "Real."
"There are much worse games to play."
------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm planning to have a review by chapters when I get the book on the 25th of August (if you're wondering why not August 24 it's because I'm in the Philippines) so that I could have review and spoilers fast enough. I'm actually planning to read slower because I know that I'm going to be dreadful if I read too fast knowing that this is the last book of the trilogy.
I'm currently rereading Hunger Games and Catching Fire this weekend to refresh my memory and yeah I know that would probably my fifth time reading it, but I'm surprised that I was really still enjoying it as if its like reading it for the first time.
Yeah I'm Team Peeta, but I know that Gale would probably get more presence and importance this time since he's with Katniss at the end of Catching Fire and Peeta was like a captive of the Capitol. I'm not into Gale because in the last two books he was not always there and I think the books were really focused on Katniss and Peeta's relationship. It might be just me, but I believe that it would really make more sense if Katniss ends up with Peeta since from the last two books they are the main protagonists and Gale was like more of an extra character, but since Suzanne Collins was very unpredictable she might change my mind when I read the third book and Gale's character hopefully would develop more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh my God!
The long wait is over!
I'm planning to have it pre-order in National Bookstore and thus I will also get a free Mockingjay shirt...*big smile*
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.^^

Random Review: > Okay Paulo Coelho where the hell is your plot? > The book was quite random and inconsistent. > At least the cover looked good. The best book cover out of all Coelho's books I suppose. > There are just so many weird things on the book, the one that really bugged me is the idea of f/f sex. > So many religious ideologies that just irked me. It's like very preachy at times and it's like P. C. wants to shove those down my throat. It felt forced! > One good thing about this one is there are still amazing parts and quotable quotes and I really love that P. C. romanticize Hera on this one. Since I kinda hate Hera btw because of the Percy Jackson series and The Lost Hero. It's like a breath of fresh air reading a positive thing about her.
Overall it was an okay read. I still think that The Alchemist was one of his best^^ (less)

My 1st review: (1 star) Gosh, I can't believe that I'm giving up on this book (did not finish it, I came until the 2/3 of the book). It's just like IMO the most annoying book I've ever read in my entire life, the dialogues are just crappy and the Pretties are like the dumbest, air-headed characters.
The conversations was just this annoying pretty talk, like they have their own language which fond of using: bogus, bubbly, dizzy-making, pretty-making, ouching, oxygen-missing etc etc...
And Tally, she's not that really appealing for me, I like her better when she's ugly. I think the one thing that I like from this book is the new character Zane.
Maybe I've read it sometime...when i feel like I want to waste my time.

And hey I've found Goodreads because of it.
So maybe even if I really don't read it at least it has been a blessing in disguise.

But the truth is I don't like it in general, some of the parts and lines I really did like, however most scenes are just extremely annoying and frustrating. I don't see any romantic qualities Heathcliff has so it felt kind of odd that some people find him romantic. Also I hate Catherine, I hate her more than any other character in the book. She's just too spoiled and annoying.
A small part of me can see why people actually like it since the book is unique, the characters are all anti-heroes, the scene is mostly gloomy, the lines are melodramatic just like in SM's books and love is being portrayed as opposite. Instead of love that give away to happiness and acceptance, love was depicted as a source of suffering and hatred. The thing is the writing is horrible, the narrator is their I think servant or something like that so I really don't know what Heathcliff or Catherine was thinking most of the time. It also has a lot of telling things and not showing things. It was extremely boring especially at first, I think the pace was pickup almost in the middle of the book. And the ending is just somewhat detached it became like a ghost story or something. Atleast Harethon and Cathy has a happy ending though. (less)

I simply can't finish it because of the writing style. It was written in a very "wordy" manner. The sentences and paragraphs were lengthy even the chapters were really long and draggy.
I'm not the type of reader who enjoy dreary descriptions and what I love about reading were dialogues and the stories' characters. It's just get tedious and tedious as you read it. I've only read the first two chapters and I skip to the very last chapter. And really sorry I don't want to continue reading because I find myself not enjoying it and it'll be like doing something I was just forced to do and I think it'll be just a waste of time.
I still recommend you to watch the movie instead though because the movie was really amazing and the sex scenes was done artistically.
Sorry Love in the Time of Cholera it just seems that your writing style was not my cup of tea and I really don't want to waste more time on you.
***So many books so little time*** duuuuhhhh! I really am not the type of person who have the patience to read you cover to cover.(less)

I didn't really know what's wrong with this book since I really love the movie version of this one undoubtedly. Of course the movie has Anne Hathaway and it has a musical/fairy tale theme but the book is really boring IMO and the exposition just bored me to death.
