May mga pagkakataon lamang na medyo corny at pilit ang mga jokes na ang sarap nang ibato ng libro sa pader. Actually I started reading it while on a jeep going to the mall and because of the bad traffic, I already read half of the novel when I came home. Then, just this morning I finished it.
It was a short read (200 pages long) and what I really liked about it is that it has a unique style of writing. It was arranged like a dictionary so there's a word and then if it is a verb, noun or adjective it was written beside the word and then the description is like a journal or a diary entry and the word is almost like a title to that diary entry.
The story is not chronological and it seems like you're reading jumbled moments of these two characters who were in love with each other. There are entries wherein they were like sweet to each other and there are also entries wherein it seems like they broke up. However, the style of writing is really engaging and unique.
I actually knew a lot of new words because of it like quixotic, quintessence, zenith, etc. because the nook has this dictionary thingy. Actually you can't get the exact meaning of the word in the lover's dictionary especially if it is a highfalutin word.
Also, I really like how the author play with words and I really like the part wherein sometimes there are parallels like how he described ephemeral and ethereal. It was also funny like I really laugh at how he described celibacy, candid, etc.
So, highly recommended for everyone who loves to read a book that is a short read and has a unique attack.

This book is more about second chances. I really like that is very humorous, light and addicting. It is a very short read and you can finish it in three hours in one sitting.
I really recommend it to all who like to read light romance happily-ever-after novels. I gave it four stars just for comparison's sake because Yours to Keep is better.

It's been a while since I downloaded this galley and transfer it to my phone to be read, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to really read it. Then, came the time that my mother got hospitalized and I'm taking care of her 24/7 that I finally have the time to read it in my phone during the hours that I do not actually do anything.
At first the e-book started with a short summary intro of the book and I really thought at that time that it would suck because the synopsis sounded very generic. It's like a story about a pretend engagement and I know this is so not an original plot to begin with.
However, the book was really funny and it was addicting. It's very rare that I read this kind of romantic comedy that I really like the humor and I can't help, but smile and hide my face in a pillow to laugh my heart out.
The story kind of remind me of a mix between The Proposal and Friends with Benefits.
The one part that I really laugh my ass off is the Newly Wed Game kind of game, but not really. There's this part that the couples are writing answers from a question and then after that they should have matched answers to win. And then the last question in the game was like "If you have a sex motto with each other what would it be?" and the lead girl's answer was like "Size doesn't really matter." But of course it's not that it was true, but it was a pretend engagement so at that time they don't really had sex yet.
The ending was also sweet I really like what the guy did at the end of the novel. This is a very light, sweet, and funny novel. I read it in one sitting and it's very addicting and I think I should read the other books by Shannon Stacey.

First I've won in the Goodreads Giveaways (I’m not confabulating its really true) and I’ve got two books Envy and Chill Factor by Sandra Brown delivered at my doorstep and it was autographed…Oh My Gosh.
And then my luck of receiving free books doesn’t end there. This book that I’m reviewing Before Ever After was given as a birthday gift by Ms. Samantha Sotto, the author of this book. If you’re wondering how it happened, if I received it because I won again in a giveaway or if the author is my friend in real life, no that was not how it happened.
What happened was I added this book in my gargantuan to-read list and then when I was reading the book info I noticed that the book will come out on my birthday which is August 2. And then I wrote a review saying, “You know what, this book will come out on my birthday. :) No kidding. I love it already,” and then Ms. Sam Sotto have read my review and gave me a message that she love to give me a copy of her book on my birthday.
And I was like:
Of course since that was really cute and sweet and heartwarming that the author herself has read my review and she even think of giving me a book on my birthday *sniff sniff* (which was actually a first time for me, even though I really love books I never got them as birthday presents, however I got a home library as a graduation present).
Okay to make a super long story short I’ve met Sam personally during the 5th meet up of The Filipino Group in Goodreads and she handed it to me and I’ve even got the chance to have it autographed.
And this is how it looked like: ***Die envious folks...teehee***
So okay done with the introduction and now let's get into reviewing...to be more organized I'm going to write the pros and then the cons...
So here goes.
Pros: 1. I really like the short stories/subplots/folktales inside the story. I can't really explain it but these stories are really unique and they are really interesting. The first subplot (something about a revolution)I think while reading it I even say a bad word out loud because I was just really shocked and thank goodness I was alone in my bedroom so no one really heard me utter those bad words.
And then the second subplot was my favorite of all (it was the Basilisk Story) I remember the format was kind of similar to the Shrieking Shack story of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. To make it more clear (I think if you’re a Potter fan, you’ll understand what I’m saying) do you remember when I think Hermione told Ron about the story of a ghost howling in the Shrieking Shack and that’s how it got it name (Shrieking..Get it?) And then later in the story we learned the truth that it was not a ghost but (view spoiler)[Lupin when he transformed into a werewolf that makes the sound (hide spoiler)]. So in this book it was similar to that, there’s a story about a Basilisk but later the true story about it came out.
Also I like the very last story, the story of Maximus and Livia. It was another great subplot and I remember I even have palpitations reading it. It was just intense, I can’t really describe it.
2. I like how she can write from one genre to another. First it was a mystery and then there’s romance, there’s adventure, there’s historical fiction mix with fantasy and supernatural and then there’s also humor. She can make me laugh, sometimes I feel intrigued and then it can be sweet, it can be tragic, it can be informative. It was a mix of light and heavy. The heaviness of the subplots which in general are tragic stories is lightened and layered by the humor of Max and the campers. She can also play with different timelines, different settings and different characters and that made me decide that this book is a book that is hard to write, it has its complexities and despite the fact that there are things that I didn’t like I still think that it deserve a 5 star rating, not just because the author gave this to me and I owe her a good review but I think she really deserve it because of the fact that she have write a good novel.
Cons: 1. The one thing that I didn’t like in this book was the ending. While I was reading Maximus and Livia’s story as I’ve mentioned I was having palpitations and I was like I’ll give the book a solid five stars but then come to the end of the book I was disappointed because the ending was made in such a haste. I think the epilogue has only four sentences and I know it was (view spoiler)[a happy ending (hide spoiler)] but it was really confusing and I’m not really sure if the elements of (view spoiler)[Immortality, how Max became immortal was properly explained, how Shelly became Immortal as well (hide spoiler)] It was very confusing, I didn’t quite get it. But still I think minus the unclear ending it was a good read. I recommend it to all my friends and to Ms. Samantha Sotto, congratulations on your debut novel. I’ll look forward for more. (less)

However in this one the male protagonist was over ninety years old and the female protagonist was about fifteen years old. The book was an easy read, I read it in one sitting. Good somewhat philosophical and it talks about life, aging, love and death. Nevertheless I was a bit disturbed with the age difference of the main characters so I'll just gave this one three stars.
Extra: This book was banned in Iran because a group of conservatives thought the book was promoting prostitution.(less)

When I received the news I was really happy, happy because I think this was the very first time I actually won something through luck.
I actually have no idea who the author was and what was the book was all about because I just randomly enter any books that are listed in the Giveaway list. So I'm like Sandra Brown Who? Nevertheless someone commented that Sandra Brown was a good author so even though I have no idea if I'll like the book or not I'm still excited to read it.
The book actually arrived very late and it just arrived this month of July when supposedly it should arrived earlier like in the months of January or February. My mom was the one who received the package and she was very delightful when she learned that I just got that free from a giveaway contest.
The package contained the book Envy, the one I won and another book which is called Chill Factor. The book Envy was in hardbound and I'm really glad because it was actually signed by the author. Which for me was also a first time to have a book that was actually have the author's signature in it.
I am really anxious to read it and I don't know what to expect. I was pleased that from the very first chapter I got hooked and I simply can't stop reading. The one thing I really liked about it was that you'll learn a lot of things about writing a novel, publishing, books, authors etc. I do like that this book draw me to that experience wherein I learned so much about book business because you know I really like books and it's just really interesting to know more about how novels are made.
I really like the concept of this one, there are two stories involved in this book, the story itself and also the story about Envy, the novel that this mysterious writer was trying to write. It's like there's a story and then within it there's another story. The plot of this book is layered between the two stories.
I could have given these 5 stars, it was a good story actually, it will keep you guessing and you'll find yourself reading and turning pages and after the end of a chapter you'll get more excited to get into another chapter. However I was disappointed on how everything ended I just felt that the mystery of the novel was really strong at the beginning but at the end it was just okay how the mysteries were revealed one by one and honestly I didn't feel that much excitement.
I really recommend it if you like romance and suspense in a novel and I just want to say that I really like this more rather than The Women's Murder Club and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. (less)

These two books I borrowed from another goodreads member, his name is Veneficus and last July we swapped books. I gave him The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan and he gave me the two Marchetta books.
When I'm deciding which one to read first I picked On The Jellicoe Road over Saving Francesca, because I've read a lot of glowing reviews about the former and when they talked about Melina Marchetta, it's always read On The Jellicoe Road.
Unfortunately I was disappointed after reading On The Jellicoe. It's not that I didn't like it, I think I still gave it three stars (which means in goodreads' perspective--I liked it)however I thought that I would love it and gave it 5 stars like majority of my friends here, but I think three stars were enough. Sorry.
However I was not discouraged to read her other works, thus I've read Saving Francesca still. And uhm before I read the book I looked into the back cover because after reading On The Jellicoe I was a little bit hesitant I will be disappointed again.
From the back cover it says...
ST. SEBASTIAN'S Pretends it's a coed school by giving the girls their own toilet.
I don't know if I'm a little bit high with coffee that day but that made me laugh and from that I somehow have a feeling that maybe I would like this book more.
I would say that the book is your typical Teenager book.
main character is an outcast, new girl on a school, have no friends yet
and there's the feeling of "School Sucks"
and of course the never dying "Self discovery and where do I belong?"
and I know, I know it is a little bit predictable
but nevertheless
I still loved it because even though the plot's simple its a story about a teenager, her family, her struggles, her friendships and finding more about herself as I've said it's very typical but the characters are very memorable, they are very diverse, and what I really like also was the dialogues, it's funny, it's entertaining, it's sweet, and when you read the lines you'll be smiling, laughing or having a "goofy grin" in your face. I think it's special in its own way and I can't believe I'm saying this now, "Hey Marchetta, I'm a fan!"
I recommend it if you like Sarah Dessen's The Truth About Forever, if you like Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles and the likes. :)
And btw I think I should end this review by thanking Veneficus for giving me a chance to read Marchetta's works. Don't worry I'll probably return it on Wednesday. Maraming salamat.(less)

Yep I just finished reading this today, on Valentine's Day. Can you believe it? And what can I say it's a nice treat to read something like this in the Month of Love.
Anna and the French Kiss reminds me so much of High School. I mean come on! Have you not experience falling in love with a guy who happens to have a girlfriend and worse he's your best friend? *Awkward silence* (Whatever, maybe it was just me.)
Moving on, this is purely teen entertainment and teen drama. So if you're a teenager or an adult who just loves to feel like a teenager all over again read the book.
The romance is powerful and will definitely give you a high feeling after you read it. It's like there are moments while you're reading it and you just want to squeal or simply hug your pillow and roll over on your bed. It's so sweet and romantic it'll make your heart flutter, will make you blush, and grins like an idiot.
I don't know what else to say but this book made me want to go to Paris and kiss St. Clair(if only he's real), and I'd like it to be on the usual way French kiss. (Don't mind me saying this, I'm still giddy.)
"Is it possible for home to be a person and not a place?" (less)

So I just happen to go in a bookstore and saw this pinkish sort of orangery book and I thought it look like a candy and I want to eat read it.
Then before I read this I search the book on Goodreads because I've no idea what's this book is all about and who was the author Lisa Kleypas.
So I found out that Kleypas has so many psycho fans that I was really excited to read it and I was jumping up and down(usual stuff I did when I get uber-excited).
I'm doing this review by fractions okay(Wow it sounds so geeky >.< Eeeeek)
1/3
Okay reading the 1/3 of the book I was already hooked and a little bit giddy by the romance between Hardy and Liberty. It was really cute sort of childhood sweetheart kind of high school romance kind of stuff. Your first crush, first love, first infatuation, young love yada yada. It was really entertaining and sweet that while reading this I have an idiotic smile on my face. Like this one.
2/3 of the book by this time Hardy was long gone and Liberty was sort of being an independent woman raising her sister Carrington all by herself since her mom died. Then he met this really old guy 63 years old who was rich and all that his name was Churchill Travis and they were kinda flirting with each other. That really tips me off because I have this hunch that Churchill and Liberty will hook up and have sex as the title implied (Sugar Daddy). And I felt like this book is SICK, why was many of GR peeps like this stuff are they crazy weirdos. Then I just skim the story because I'm eager to find out if my hunch was correct and if it did I decided that I will not finish this one.
3/3
Now there's a new character introduced to the story Gage, Churchill's son and by then I surmised that my hunch was wrong and Liberty and Gage where the one going to be lovey dovey not LibertyxChurchill. So Gage, what can I say, I fuckin' hate him because of his name.
See Gage= Gale
Am I really weird/psycho but every time I've read Gage in the book I want to burn it down! It's just that Gage reminds me of Gale and just just don't start me up with Gale now, when I think of him I swear it will make me cuss like J. R. WARD like there's no tomorrow. (Screw you Suzanne Collins for ruining Gale Gage for me!)
And I find myself uttering I hate you Gale I mean Gage whenever he's in the book.
But it's really weird like after a few scenes I found myself falling in love with Gale Gage which was really bizarre since I hated him my whole life ever since I've read Mockingjay. Me falling in love with Gale Gage who heartlessly bomb people from District 2, killed sweet sweet Prim and who fucking ditches Katniss in the end because some job on District 2. Screw you Gale! Screw you! I mean screw you Suzanne Collins for hating this character Gage because his name sounded a lot like Gale. :P
Confusing much? Sorry I guess I mixed up this two books, well anyways
I'm just bitching but I really love Gale Gage in this book. (muffled voice)
So what made me gave this 5 stars? (You may ask) 1. It's funny and entertaining, the scenes that really crack me up is the 68 thingy and when Carrington swallowed a penny. 2. The story delves about issues like Racism and Parenting. 3. The twists in the end about Carrington surprised me like, "WTF It's Like A Fucking Jodi Picoult Novel." Though I figured out before it was revealed that Hardy was a betrayer since it was fucking predictable. 4. Love the characters, they are relatable and real. 5. I love that it's very feministic and this books makes me happy that I am a woman. 6. Very informative about the pregnancy, business, love life and I'm surprised that this author knew about Defense Mechanisms (which was actually one of my fave topics in Psychiatric Nursing) I love how she can put the "projection" on the dialogues. 7. This also made me cried btw the part wherein Liberty realizes how hard it is for parents when they're children became rebellious and ingrate. It dawned on me that yesterday I shouted at my mom and now because of this book I feel sorry for what I did. This made me realize that we shouldn't shout at our moms because we really owe them so much things that it's unfair to really hurt them.
Okay I'm going to shut up now. Just read this folks, highly recommended!
Caution : This book review was ridiculously self-absorbed and will not be entirely wholesome (R-16 will do).

First off I'd like to say that I've seen like this book Looking for Alaska for so many times in Listopia( a feature here in goodreads) and when I've met The Filipino Group in Goodreads last last week John Green's Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns were the buzz of the day.
However what really motivates me to read it is when I've watched a vlog by the vlog brothers, I think it was Hank (John Green's brother) and he's promoting his brother's books Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns and Abundance of Katherines. And I was really shocked since I've watched few of their videos and it was a lot of fun but it never came to my mind that John was John Green the author. I thought he was just a normal guy who loves to make geeky vlogs and all that.
So after watching the video I was really excited to read his works and was like Fuckadoodles I need to buy all his books. However I didn't find his book in National Book Store even when I go to SM Megamall (it's like one of the biggest malls in the Phils.)so yeah I just ranted about it on TFG on GR saying...
Note: to protect other users, I'll just post Unknown and I deleted the tagalog posts because I don't have time to translate them :)

Joyzi:Is it that so annoying when you want to read a book and then you go to the bookstore and then they don't have a copy and then you'll find friends here in Goodreads already buy and read it...come on life you are so unfair >.<
Unknown: Don't blame life, blame the publishers particularly their marketing (distribution) department. Joyzi LOL.
Joyzi: well I blame Life in general. Yep I'm looking for Looking for Alaska or any other John Green books, hey I do so many illegal things just to read them!
Unknown: Huh? Holden Caulfield teenage angst? Life sucks? Joyzi LOL!
Joyzi: yeah life sucks, that's pretty much sums up my mood today
Joyzi: and who the hell was Holden Caufield?
Unknown: Google him, Joyzi LOL.
Joyzi: I hate it when people say google it, well it's cute at first but then ahhhhhhhh *lazy to google whoever this guy is*
Unknown1: joyzi, and what kind of illegal things you do just to read them? Haha Unknown, I saw who he is. Lol
Joyzi: Ha *evil laugh* dumb me, I just downloaded Looking for Alaska at 4shared.com, why do I ever not thought about it before, Oh 4shared I am so in your debt right now! Geeez 4shared.com don't have any Paper Towns and neither Abundance of Katherines. Unkown1 who was that guy, care to tell me?
Unknown: Additional knowledge, Joyzi. Since you read a lot, it pays to know this well-known fictional character. LOL. Just like the same feeling I have when somebody attaches a link (like YouTube or blog) in a thread and I click on it but it either hangs or blocked by our IT. I also hate long reviews, old reviews sent repeatedly many times and reviews with lots of pictures not or only slightly related to what the reviewer is saying. They clog my inbox. LOL!
Unknown1: haha so your one of the 4shared loyal download-ers. haha. do you also read ebooks on phone? or in pdf form?
Joyzi: @ Unkown1 I’ve read only on .txt formats and epub formats, I don't read pdf they're so excruciating to my eyes @Unknown so you hate my reviews then they're like bombarded with pictures
Joyzi: @Unknown if he is well-known fictional character why don't I know him? My guess is he was in the "classic-that-Joyzi-don't-read" category. Oh Hail Hail 4shared they already got Finnikin of the rock *evil laugh*
Unknown: lol
Joyzi: Unkown answer my questions, don't just laugh
Unknown2: Know what? Joyzi LOL is one good meme. Ahaha! :D Just sayin' folks...
JoyzI: yeah totally agree with you Unknown2, like it was so cliche already from now on I'll type lolasaurus whenever there's something funny
Unknown: Joyzi LOL!
Joyzi: aaaaaaaaaagggggh Unknown lolasaurus!
Unknown1: joyzi, as Unknown says its fictional character in The Catcher in the Rye. though I dont know the book. Lol I also have an account in 4shared. i think i saw that two books in other downloading websites.
Joyzi: I don't have an account in 4shared, I just go there to do illegal downloading. Oh Catcher in the Rye, Unknown3 and Unknown4 says it's a good book, they say it's like a dick-lit or something
Okay Forum Talk Over... ***************************************** Okay Intros Over, Book review time now...
Pros: 1. A Guy Character POV from a Guy Author. I think this has to be the most amazing thing about Looking for Alaska because if I remember right this is my 1st time reading a YA book that have this element. I’ve read like Uglies by Scott Westerfield (guy author but Girl Character *Tally* POV) and I’ve also read The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (guy author but Todd POV, the Guy Character was a little bit juvenile). Of course I’ve read Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (that was from Ethan’s POV *guy character* but the problem was it was girly and I blame that on the authors being girls) and also Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver (Sam’s POV *guy character* was also girly).
I’d like to say that Miles POV was realistic, like for example when Alaska was using his lap for like a pillow so Alaska could sleep; this was what he thought about:
Layers of cloth that obstructs Alaska’s face from his private parts and having a penile erection maybe is not a good time.
2. The Teenage Life portrayed here was also realistic like: >bad vices >pranks >unrequited love >sexual curiosity >friendship etc.
3. In some parts the book was actually written in a very clever way: My favourite quotes are:
"Ya'll smoke to enjoy it. I smoke to die." (Alaska)
and this one
If people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane- Miles (Pudge)
4. It was very informative. You’ve got to learn about Suicide, Philosophy, Famous Last Words of Famous People, Feminism,*coughs* how to do BJ properly*coughs* and many more.
5. I also love the game that they played here which was called Best Day, Worst Day.
6. I also loved how he used foreshadowing in this book and the mystery aspect surrounding *SPOILER ALERT* Alaska’s death.
Cons 1. Stereotyping and Teenage stories clichés.
Miles- the geek stereotype Alaska- the rebel girl stereotype Colonel- the cool friend stereotype Takumi- the Asian stereotype Lara-*coughs* the girl who love to do BJ stereotype*coughs*
Okay I’m not going to elaborate with the Teenage issues cliché stories like with family problems and seeking your true identity and such but I’d like to say that that’s the reason I only gave it 3 stars because the plot was too familiar and ordinary(maybe it was just me).
But I’ll just rant about the BJ scene in this book which I really think was unnecessary, I actually got no problem with it because it was not that detailed when you read the book but still it kinda turned me off knowing that the book was YA(maybe it was just me).
And seriously this was the 2nd YA book I’ve read that have BJ on it the 1st was Marked by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast, it was just too annoying, do these authors really think that teenagers doing BJ was entirely common? Come on we don’t do BJs and stuff like that!
***WTH is Pinocchio doing here? *kidding* ***
2. It was boring and draggy at some parts and a bit preachy too.
3. I just think that all in all it was a good book but it’s not that amazing or great, but it’s more than okay. Some parts I think was also written very poorly because I actually expected that I will cry in this book but I didn’t feel attached to the characters too much to grieve about them (that was just how I feel about it).
But still I’m going to read his other books Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns and will see if there’s an improvement in his writing :)
I’ll buy them next time for sure! Hope it will be available next time I book hunt for them ^^ ____________________________________ Thoughts before Reading Geeeezus!

I think it's better than Perfect Chemistry (more comical moments and less drama) and I love most of the characters. I love Carlos, Kiara, Tuck, Brandon, Dick and of course Alex and Brit.
It's a book wherein the plot's not that great (cliche, predictable, slow) but the dialogues and the characters made up for that, that it turns out you love the book despite the flaws.
I think the part where I really hardly stop laughing is when Carlos and Tuck argues (Carlos mistook Tuck as Kiara's boyfriend but truth is Tuck is Gay and Kiara's best friend). I also love the part when Carlos substitute as a soccer player for Tuck's Gay Soccer Team and he needs to wear a pink shirt and most of the gays from the team were crushing on him, that was really funny too. I also love Brandon haha, he's so innocent, funny and cute.
This is also heavy on the romance just like the first one and actually the book cover was a scene from the book (I think it's also one of my favorite part in this book).
I would probably recommend it to 16 years old & above because the book has foul language, drugs, sex, violence in it.
So if you like Perfect Chemistry, read this! If you haven't read Perfect Chemistry, I recommend to read that first and then read this one to avoid confusion, amigo.

Caution: Folks as much as I want everybody to read this book I have to say that this is definitely not a YA book. It contains offensive language, violence and over the top sex.
Before anything else, I'm going to share this song Satisfy by Vedera because some guy in Youtube make this a soundtrack for the book and I think the song captures the emotions in the book accurately.
♫♪If there was a way to try and make it back Back to where we started from Could I find a way to try and make you stay Would I know what could be done?
I don't want to deny my heart its chance to feel I don't want to deny my soul something real
Is there anything left in this world that will satisfy me? Is there anything left in this world that will satisfy you tonight?
We were sailing on I could see the world below Never thought of coming down Expectations fell It seemed as though our will was no match for the trouble found
So take my hand and i wont look back Though I've lived tossed along these waves I will stay♪♫
Aaaaaaw if only I can find a way to sing that song to you guys *coughs* I mean I'm pretty good at singing, really, that the Mockingjays will immediately stop singing...*coughs*, sorry can't resist my Katniss Everdeenish alter ego atm
Now back to review
Pros: 1. It's a story about circus life, I repeat, CIRCUS LIFE PEOPLE! I mean who doesn't love circus, come on. Also I remember when I first saw a circus when I was in 3rd grade I was so amazed by it(the circus I mean) that I'm telling my mom that I wanted to join the circus(I know, hmmmpf, one of my childish idiocies, *roll eyes*). 2. The book has an intense(consider that an understatement) PROLOGUE. I think it's impossible for a human being not to read the book after reading the prologue, that's how intense it is. To give you an idea what the prologue is about I leave you with this one word MURDER . 3. I love the main character of this book and I'm sure that he's one the characters that I've read that I won't forget. He's very sweet, funny, kind, smart and he's sort of a too good to be true character, to be honest with you guys. It just seems that he has no flaws, he's sooooooo pur-wait for it-fect!. 4. The sex scenes are hilarious. Trust me not repulsive but hilarious and it literally made me ROFLMAOLOLOMGBBQROFLCOPTER! (translation for noobs= rolling on the floor laughing my ass off laughing out loud Oh My Gosh Barbeque! rolling on the floor copter!(copter means helicopter lol, just a dumb way to say something is funny) 5. It has an elephant. I mean who doesn't love Bambi the Elephant (ah sorry wrong character), I mean Dumbo the Elephant? And Rosie the Elephant was as cute as a button Geeeeeeeez, if elephants can be domesticated I'll have an elephant in our house. 6. It made me cry (Crybaby that I am, the unrequited love just get to me GRrrrrrrr(hate this book for making me cry) 7. It has also parts wherein Jacob was in a nursing home and I heart those parts of the book. As a student nurse I must say that Sara Gruen really captures the true setting and atmosphere of a nursing home. I also learn a lot of stuff from Jacob's perspective like when he said something about nurses taking no notice of his you know private parts blah blah(too lazy to elaborate just read the book) and I realize that those maybe were the thought of my geriatric clients whenever I change their diapers and they have these really sort of embarrassed, sad face after that and they don't look into your eyes and I guess I kind of understand why they do this by now, by reading this book. 8. Love the ending, the ending was very heartfelt and very happy and sort of sentimental.
Cons: 1. The sex scenes were a little bit over the top. 2. There was this scene of Barbara doing a freak show that is very sexual and kind of tips me off. 3. When the author describes some of the circus show it was confusing and hard to imagine at times but I guess those would be really good in the movie. 4. Somehow imagining Robert Pattinson with those over the top, crazy, circus sex scenes disturbed me and I wish the movie would lessen the mature sexual content of the book so that the teenagers can also watch the movie. 5. There are some boring parts specially in the beginning. The beginning lacks conflict and I guess if I'm an impatient reader I have not finish the book. 6. I really hate the "I am pregnant bomb" in a story, ever since I've read Breaking Dawn I really hate it when the girl and the boy will have sex and then the girl will ended up pregnant. I know it's the 1930's and probably condom was not invented yet but idk it still irritates me. 7. I hate Marlena! I usually hate dormats so I guess I'm being myself hating this woman.
I'm going to shut up now, just read this *coughs* if you're 18 years old and above!
Thoughts Before Reading This
Holy fuckadoodles Robert Pattinson will stars for the movie adaptation of this book. I will definitely read this!!!
"Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it. But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know."
Book Review To be completely honest this is not the first time I pick up and tried to read this book. My first try in reading it I don't even get past the first chapter and I gave up easily because it bored me and I read another book.
But because this book is the one we will be reading and discussing on April for the theme "Goodreads Author's Stand-alone Novel," I decided to read it again.
So yeah second time reading and I still find the first pages boring but as I continue reading it I got hooked. It really gets exciting in the part wherein the main girl already died and then she wake up again to the day wherein it was the day she died.
She wake up confused because she know she just died in a car accident but the next thing she know she's alive and waking up on the same date which is February 12. And everything that's happening around her is like a rewind, like a sort of time loop or dejavu.
Here comes my little problem with this book. It has a premise that is not really original. If you have watched Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, it also has the same concept however the day that was repeated is the character's worst day ever. If you're also familiar with Groundhog Day you might find that they also have similarities with the same day constantly repeating again and again. Actually Time Loop is one of the common plot devices and for more info, clickey this linkey
So 4 stars why-oh-why?
Well it didn't make me cry but it made me think and this is very thought provoking. It does remind me of Nineteen Minutesby Jodi Picoult and Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho. It will make you think more about your life, death, your actions, the people around you that maybe you have judge or hurt or constantly ignored. I just minus the one star because as I said it is not original and the ending is predictable.
Do I recommend you to read it?
Yes I do recommend this book just keep in mind that the book is written for young adults and it's written in a very Chick-litish nature. So if you're okay with it, read it! :)

Make me feel giddy and somewhat intoxicated at the moment.
A cliche plot, a bit predictable, but very well written and I love the dialogues a lot.
A story of a modern day romeo and juliet. Guy's a gang member and a Latino and the girl's rich, perfect(sort of) and American. First they hate each other but eventually they got to know one another and fall in love (usual stuff).
This is like a mix of Sarah Dessen Novel and a House of Night novel, this is a realitic YA fiction novel with parts that were not entirely wholesome (contains sex, violence and foul language) but at least the sex scene was cut unlike *coughs* Graceling *coughs* haha. Still suitable for teens haha.
Guy's hot and likable like 100% sexy, dangerous, smokin' hot, bad ass, you seriously want to *censored* him haha. (seriously? haha forget I wrote that, now goin' back...)
I should have given it 5 stars but the ending and the epilogue's kinda cheesy and mushy that it turned me off.
Now looking forward to read her other novels.(less)
Once upon a time, there was a bird. He was adorned with two perfect wings and with glossy, colorful, marvelous feathers. In short, he was a creature made to fly about freely in the sky, bringing joy to everyone who saw him.
One day, a woman saw this bird and fell in love with him. She watched his flight, her mouth wide in amazement, her heart pounding, her eyes shining with excitement. She invited the bird to fly with her, and the two traveled across the sky in perfect harmony. She admired and venerated and celebrated that bird.
But then she thought: He might want to visit far-off mountains! And she was afraid, afraid that she would never feel the same way about any other bird. And she felt envy, envy for the bird's ability to fly.
And she felt alone.
And she thought: "I'm going to set a trap. The next time the bird appears, he will never leave again."
The bird who was also in love, returned the following day, fell into the trap and was put in a cage.
She looked at the bird everyday. There he was, the object of her passion, and she showed him to her friends, who said: "Now you have everything you could possibly want." However, a strange transformation began to take place: now that she had the bird and no longer needed to woo him, she began to lose interest. The bird, unable to fly and express the true meaning of his life, began to waste away and his feathers to lose their gloss; he grew ugly; and the woman no longer paid him any attention, except by feeding him and cleaning out his cage.
One day, the bird died. The woman felt terribly sad and spent all her time thinking about him But she did not remember the cage, she thought only of the day when she had seen him for the first time, flying contentedly amongst the clouds.
If she had looked more deeply into herself, she would have realized that what had thrilled her about the bird was his freedom, the energy of his wings in motion, not his physical body.
Without the bird, her life too lost all meaning, and Death came knocking at her door. "Why have you come?" she asked Death. "So that you can fly once more with him across the sky," Death replied. "If you had allowed him to come and go, you would have loved and admired him even more; alas, you now need me in order to find him again."
So now I think that passage from the book already ate up my review so I'll just add some extra things.
First: As expected from Paulo Coelho this is another philosophical somewhat self-help, inspirational novel. This book was actually dedicated to a fan named Maurice Gravelines and Coelho met this guy unintentionally when he visited the Grotto in Lourdes. When they met the guy was like "You know, you look just like Paulo Coelho." And then Coelho said that yeah it was really him. And then the guy embraced him and he said to Coelho that, "They(Coelho's books) make me dream." I think that pretty sum up what kind of books Coelho's are.
Second: This book actually talks a lot about sex so I really recommend this book to adult readers, 18 years old and above. The novel has some masturbation scenes, BDSM, a blowjob scene etc. It just talks a lot about orgasm and in the other hand it also talks about the sacredness of sex and some history of prostitution blah blah blah. So really, adult readers or if you're sensitive about sex or anything about it maybe this book is not for you.
Third: My only complain about this book is that...there's actually a Filipino character in this book and she's a prostitute in the book and she's Maria's friend. My only problem about her is her name which is Nyah. I just really find her name weird and not very quote and quote Filipino. Maybe the author did not have time to research on it but the common names of Filipinos are similar to Spanish names and American names so I just really find it odd that her name's Nyah since it doesn't sound like a Filipino name. Maybe he could just name that character Juana or Ana or Susan but to name her Nyah, it was just odd. *shoulder shrug*
Thoughts before Reading
Finally this has been available in our library. So many people have been borrowing it, and when I go to the libray its always unavailable. Now it's my time to read it and I'm so excited since one of my classmate really like it and he said that this is his most favorite Coelho book. I'm curious to know why.(less)

Amazing book, it's kind of emotional and depressing in the end but still it has a happy ending. Ronnie was like a character that I can personally relate to and the dialogues are just humorous. It's kinda like predictable but all in all it's really meaningful and highly recommended to all Sparks fans.(less)

This is a tragic love story so if you're planning to read this one, you should knew and expect that the ending will not be a HEA. Idk but somehow for me the ending felt really wrong because John and Savannah love each other more than Savannah love Tim. And it just sad to end the story wherein Savannah and Tim ended up together and then John was left alone and he also gave up his father's coin collection just to save Tim's life. It's just too self-sacrificial and in the end I felt really sad for John because he ended up ALONE and it's just sad considering how much he sacrifice.
Nevertheless the beginning and the middle part make up for the ending and those were the amazing parts, the latter part are just too much drama. I think the love story's great despite the horrible ending.
