I gotta admit after reading Volume 1 I was confused because the things are not that explained and I don't know exactly where the story is going. However, when I've read Volume 2 everything finally makes sense. It was the type of manga that is very creepy and there's like this horror and gothic feeling. I really like the ending because I didn't really expect that it would end that way. Because it ended in a very tragic and scary way. And I never really thought that the ghost was evil because she's very cute and she's like very beautiful and fragile that I didn't really expect her to act that way in the end. So, 5 stars for creeping me out and the unexpected twist in the end.(less) | Notes are private!

This is the third Shakesperian play that I've read. The first one that I've read is Much Ado About Nothing which is a comedy and the second one is Romeo and Juliet which is a tragedy. I picked Hamlet because it is one of Shakespeare's most popular play and I think many considered it as his best work. Contrary to the two plays that I've already read. Hamlet is more of a tragic revenge story than a love story. This is also more philosophical and harder to read than Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo & Juliet. The story or the plot is easy to understand, but there are some lines that I find really hard to understand the meaning. So, what I did is I Google some of the lines to be able to understand what is Shakespeare is trying to say. Back when I was in High School, we have this oration/speech thingy that we need to do. And some of my classmates recited To be or not to be (and I don't remember what is the title of the speech I recited but it's not from Shakespeare) and that's where I first heard it. I remember back then I don't really know the message of To be or not to be. Since when I was in High School we only discussed about Shakespeare's sonnets and and we also need to act on a play called The Merchant of Venice but I remember I do not really act on any role and I'm on the production aspect of the play. And then we also need to memorize "All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players" (I forgot the title of that) for a speech choir contest. And to be able to read Hamlet now and to understand some of the lines (thanks to Google) was really brilliant and cool. Like I realized that to be or not to be means to live or die because be means being so it's like existence. So what Hamlet really say is: To live or die that is the question But this is not a contemplation of suicide but rather a contemplation of murder. To die here do not mean he wants to kill himself but it means that he knew that if he'll murder Claudius he will also be murdered. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer He was thinking if it is more appropriate to live but of course he'll suffer because he knows that he needs to kill Claudius or the other option of to not play safe and take action meaning kill Claudius. To die: to sleep; So this is the continuation...so he's thinking if he'll take action he'll die. But he's also thinking that maybe dying will be more like sleeping and "what dreams may come" means like maybe there's dreaming after death or a life after death. That makes calamity of so long life; so this is like...what will be the essence of living in a world that is full of corruption? But that the dread of something after death, so he makes a point that life after death is very uncertain...it's like we mortal beings are uncertain of whether there is really an eternal life and that makes death scary Thus conscience does make cowards of us all; Here Hamlet's having trouble because he's a moral being and like all of us he also has a conscience. He knew what is right and what is wrong. It is wrong to kill a man and this thought was hindering him to do what he knows that he needs to do- to kill Claudius. So from that text alone Shakespeare talks about life, death, life after death and morality. And this is just a part of this play, so I really recommend you to read it. But I do recommend to buy a copy with annotations because as I've said some of the lines are hard to understand. So if I misinterpreted any lines, feel free to comment because I'm not really an authority and I just use Google.(less) | Notes are private!

The tree just gives and gives 'till there's nothing left for her to give. I just feel sad for the tree because the boy was actually taking advantage of everything. It's weird but I'm actually sad because of a tree. I think there's something really painful when you have love someone truly that you don't care about what's in it for you and it is not reciprocated but you still continue to love and give and you are just content that that person is happy. Now I'm depressed and I want to hug and comfort that tree. (less) | Notes are private!

Best book of the series so far. I have heard that the book series is originally intended as a trilogy, but the story became so complicated that it needs seven books to resolve all the problems and plot issues. I think that the series is really a complicated story even more complicated than Lord of the Rings. When I started the series I feel that I know who the villains and who the good guys were, but even the characters are complicated. Sometimes they are neither a villain nor a hero they are just in the middle. Lord of the Rings is a kind of story that you already know who the bad guys and the good guys were but this series is far more intriguing and there are a lot of secrets and it is just so beautifully written. At first I think that the Lannisters are the enemy, but now I'm starting to root for them, for Tyrion, Jamie, Tommen, and Myrcella. Even the characters that I thought are good people are the bad ones and the character that I thought are the bad people turned out to be the good ones. There are just too many lies that I feel that I was also mislead in some ways. And I really applaud that some of the truths are finally revealed. It was very unpredictable and I really thought that the author really think about how he will play out the story and the characters. I really recommend this series if you haven't read it yet and I would say that I know not all readers would really like the book. I think it fits more to mature readers. There are sex, violence and a lot of mature content that not really for young readers. I also say that if you are a reader who always loves happily ever after this is also not for you. If you are willing to invest time in a long series about politics, magic, and family I think this one is for you. Spoiler Alert Jon Snow ***Jon Snow is no longer a virgin. At first I was really annoyed because I want him to not break any of his vows and remain an honest brother of the Night's Watch. However, this would mean that Kit Harrington, the guy who played Jon Snow will have numerous sexy scenes *drools* so yeah never mind. Ahem. Aside from numerous sexy scenes, a lot has happened to Jon Snow. In the end he became the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. He has a power similar to Bran. He is also a wrag (or was it warg?) I'm not sure about the spelling but he can also be inside Ghost's body. I can't really tell all that happened but here are some of them: Ygrette the lovey dovey wildling he loved and has sex with was killed. Lord Mormont was killed. We know a lot about the wildlings in this book which in the past books are really a blur. There's also Janos Slynt who became a new member of the Night's Watch. King Stannis came to the wall and rescue them from the wildlings. King Stannis offer the position of Lord of Winterfell to Jon Snow. Here is the link on whom they cast as Ygritte: http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/10/r... Daenyrys ***Actually I'm starting to get bored reading Dany's chapters. Barristan the Bold joins them and she is gathering an army and the dragons are growing. She doesn't trust Jorah anymore and she kinds of get him out of her sight because he learned that Jorah betrays her at first by sending information to Robert Baratheon about her and Drogo and their son. Tyrion ***Tyrion is my favorite POV to read. His POV is always funny and interesting. My favorite parts in this book is Tyrion and Sansa's wedding it was really an interesting part to read. It is funny and painful at the same time. I think it's unfair for both of them to be wed. I think Tyrion is attracted to Sansa because Sansa is very pretty and he is very fond of the Starks and he's just this ugly but smart and kind dwarf who just wanted love and attention. Sansa on the other hand was this girl who dreams of prince charming and beautiful wedding and she unfortunately wed to an ugly dwarf and he is a Lannister. When I told my sister about it she was actually furious because she hates Sansa and she thinks Tyrion deserve a better wife than Sansa. Whereas at that moment I'm thinking the exact opposite wherein I think Sansa deserve a better husband. What happens to Tyrion: He is accused of poisoning and killing King Joeffrey. Tysha is not a whore, revealed by his brother Jamie. Jamie rescues Tyrion from his cell. He will now leave King's Landing. Arya ***Arya's POV became repetitive and less exciting. She meets a lot of characters including the Hound and Ser Benric Dondarion. At the end of the novel she will be traveling to Braavos. She got Needle back. Bran ***Another less exciting POV. He goes beyond the wall to find the Three-Eyed Crow and meeting Samwell Tarly along the way. Robb ***FUCK! Robb was fucking dead. It was really cruel how he died and it was in the hands of his alliance House Frey and it happens in a wedding that the people would call Red Wedding after the horrible murder. I've heard that this book will be two seasons season 3 and season 4. And I think it will be a great idea because Robb was killed halfway to the book and I think it would be really a dramatic ending to Season 3. And all the fans will be like I DON'T WANT TO WATCH THIS FUCKING SERIES ANYMORE! Actually that's what I feel like when I read that part. I stop reading and I was like thinking in my head NO IT DOES NOT HAPPEN and for a moment I don't want to read anymore. It's just very shocking because I'm not really expecting it because I thought if Robb will die in the books it will be at war fighting the Lannisters. I'm just wondering if the HBO series will raise the bar and will do it exactly like in the books because IMO his death is too grotesque for TV because he's beheaded and then they stitched the head of Grey Wind to his body. So it looks like Robb with a wolf head. Catelyn Stark also suffers a brutal death she was cut from ear to ear and then they throw her body naked in the river. However, at the end of the novel she came back as a zombie. Idk if that's the right term but she came back from the dead. Jamie ***I think Jamie became more likable and relatable in book 3. He lost his right hand and he can't fight anymore. I really love his POV and there's really more to Jamie than meets the eye. He's not exactly the character I thought he was in book 1. He has a heart and a very complex character. I think his only fault was loving Cersei his twin. Now I love him more. He is the antihero of the series. I really like that the two Lannister boys are both antiheroes in a way and there are very real and honest characters. Now that I finished book 3. I'm excited to know what will happen to these characters: -Sansa and Petyr -Tyrion -Jamie -Jon Snow -Brienne -Arya -Cersei -Catelyn(less) | Notes are private!

Okay so this book is actually book 2 of the series called A Song of Ice and Fire. So you need to read Game of Thrones first before jumping into this one. Also, there is an HBO TV series named Game of Thrones and you can watch that if you're not okay with reading very long books. ![]() To be honest with you, I started reading half of the book 1 GoT and then I decided to watch the TV series until the last episode. Therefore, by the time I consumed my reading of the 1st book I think my excitement in reading it was lessened because I already know what was going to happen. So when I was reading the second half of GoT I was not really enjoying it and I just wanna get over it to read the second book. When I started reading this, I don't have any idea what will happen because the TV series will have the season 2 next year in April. I think that really helps for me to like this one better than the first one. The feeling is, I know that this one is really long, but ironically I just can't get enough of it and I just wanted more. It seems like you really enjoyed it that you do not care even if it is very long and you do not have this feeling that you are bored or the story is draggy. So for those of you who are afraid to read the series because you think you will not enjoy it because it is too long, just give it a try and it was really addicting and good. You will find it hard to stop reading. That's how good it is. What I find unique about this series is that the author is actually very brutal to the main characters - the Stark Family. He lacks romanticism. Do you know the difference between a romantic and a realistic? So here's the situation there is a farm girl who is barefooted in the mud. A romantic will see it like there's a very beautiful girl and that she's barefooted and the romantic will find the feet sexy and the girl smelling flowers and sunshine. Whereas, a realistic will find the scene disgusting and the realistic perceives that foot is calloused, cracked, dried, ugly because she's in the mud and she's barefooted and she's an ugly farm girl. The author is a realistic more than romantic. So don't expect happy endings and good triumphs over evil. Expect the worst. Expect that life will be awful. Children, women, weak people are going to be abused, raped, killed, etc. This is not really a happy story and more of a tragic story. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!! Jon Snow ***Jon's story here is not really that exciting. Someone told me that his story will bloom at book 3. So in here he became a ranger and then I think he killed somebody on the Night's Watch which I kind of forgot the name. He was now in the hands of these wildlings and they make him yield and sort of killed his companion, which is a member of the Night's Watch to spare his life (Complicated stuff, but actually he's not a traitor of the Night's Watch and it was like an act he played.) There was also a scene here wherein he spare the life of Ygrette a girl wildling because he can't kill the girl. Because of that I really admire Jon Snow because in this book men are very cruel to women (women are raped, abused, killed, etc.) and what Jon Snow did to this girl made him more human. Daenyrys ***Her story is also not that exciting. I think she can't really fight for the Iron Throne right now. Her dragons are now growing. In the end she finds ships for her khalasar so that they can pass the sea and go to Westeros. Some of the scenes got me really thinking. So there is a prophecy for her. There will be three treason that will happen: treason for blood, treason for gold and treason for love. There are a lot more prophecies, but I kind of don't remember them now, but they always include the number three. Tyrion ***I think Tyrion is more on the good side rather than the bad side. He's really a peculiar character. He seems to defy the Lannisters. He makes plot against Cersei and Joeffrey, but in the end I think he's loyal to his blood, but still there are times that it really feels weird for me that he's really fond of Starks. He's sad when he knows about Bran and Rickon killed and beheaded in the Winterfell where he shouldn't be feeling that way because the Starks are their enemy. He even protected Sansa from Joeffrey. At first I feel that he's too cunning and that he will outwit Cersei and that he will be a good Hand of the King. But I think he fails in that one. He ended up injured because of the battle between King's Landing and Stannis Baratheon. He suffers a burn in his face. Arya ***So Arya change her name a lot in this book. From Arya to Arry to Weasel to Nam. She lost Needle the sword given to her by Jon Snow. At the end of the novel she's escaping from Harrenhal with Genry and Hot Pie. I really find her POV exciting and a lot of fun. There's this scene wherein she was fighting the army of the Lannister together with Yoren and the recruit of the Night Watch and she's shouting Winterfell! She's just a cute, strong and lovable character. Bran ***So Bran find out that he has a talent with dreams which I forgot what's the name of that talent. But he kinds of have a glimpse of the future through his dreams which should be interpreted first because they are symbolic dreams. At the end of the novel Theon attacked Winterfell and then he allegedly killed Bran and Rickon and place their heads in the spikes, but we find out that it is a fake death. And the heads are not really Bran's and Rickon's. So what happened to them in the end is that they are escaping Winterfell: Bran, Rickon, Osha, Hodor, Summer, Shaggydog with the two children I kind of forgot the names. Winterfell is on fire btw and all is likely dead: Micken, Maester Luwin, etc. Robb ***Where the hell is Robb? He's kind of battling and it was told he's always winning. It is more like telling than showing when it comes to Robb. I think the TV series will do justice on this character than in the books. Jamie ***Still a captive in the Riverrun I think Cately killed him, but I'm not really sure. He's drinking a wine given by Cately and I'm not sure if the wine is poisoned. Catelyn called Brienne she's like bring me your sword and I think Catelyn will kill him. So who now holds the Iron Throne? King Joeffrey still holds the Iron Throne. Cersei is still the Queen and regent. He's now betrothed to Maergery the ex-Queen of King Renly. Lord Tywin is now the Hand of the King. Sansa and Joeffrey's betrothal is now invalid and void. However, Sansa is still a hostage and most likely be Joeffrey's mistress and mother of his bastards. Sansa is now menstruating btw. King Renly is dead and he's killed by a shadow like a sorcery kind of stuff. King Stannis is defeated, but I'm not sure if he's dead. King Robb is winning, he gets Harenhal, but he lost Winterfell to Theon Greyjoy. King Greyjoy (forgot the name) claim the Iron Islands and Winterfell.(less) | Notes are private!

It's been a while since I downloaded this galley and transfer it to my phone to be read, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to really read it. Then, came the time that my mother got hospitalized and I'm taking care of her 24/7 that I finally have the time to read it in my phone during the hours that I do not actually do anything. At first the e-book started with a short summary intro of the book and I really thought at that time that it would suck because the synopsis sounded very generic. It's like a story about a pretend engagement and I know this is so not an original plot to begin with. However, the book was really funny and it was addicting. It's very rare that I read this kind of romantic comedy that I really like the humor and I can't help, but smile and hide my face in a pillow to laugh my heart out. The story kind of remind me of a mix between The Proposal and Friends with Benefits. ![]() ![]() The one part that I really laugh my ass off is the Newly Wed Game kind of game, but not really. There's this part that the couples are writing answers from a question and then after that they should have matched answers to win. And then the last question in the game was like "If you have a sex motto with each other what would it be?" and the lead girl's answer was like "Size doesn't really matter." But of course it's not that it was true, but it was a pretend engagement so at that time they don't really had sex yet. The ending was also sweet I really like what the guy did at the end of the novel. This is a very light, sweet, and funny novel. I read it in one sitting and it's very addicting and I think I should read the other books by Shannon Stacey. (less) | Notes are private!

It was given to me by the Traveling Books in The Filipino Group in Goodreads ^^ 5 out of 5 stars I got this book from The Traveling Books in The Filipino Group in goodreads.com. It originally came from Han and then was given to Po and then it was my turn.
I did not immediately read this, however, and it took me months to finish reading this. Even my younger sister told me that she observed that I got too long to finish reading this book when she was accustomed in seeing me read a book in a day or in a week. It's not that it's terrible. My problem at first was the beginning was slow and I was not intrigued enough to read it continuously. And since I am a polygamous reader I read a lot of books while trying to read this one. And there are times that I almost forgot reading it and since I got weary because I need to give this to the next person who is Tricia in the Christmas Party of The Filipino Group in goodreads.com. I decided to read it and finish it even if I'm really busy. You might probably wondering why I still gave it 5 stars even though it took me months to read it. Actually, regardless of me being lazy to finish it. It was a really good novel. It has a beautiful writing and the characters are likable. The story is excellent. The layers of the story are written very well. Though I have to say that this novel is for mature readers. In fact, when I was reading it at first I thought that it was a novel for children and then it was the type of novel that will engage children to read since the novel is all about passion for reading books and the main character is a bookworm. However, the moment I read a sex scene in the book I realized that it's not what I thought it would be. And then there are other mature themes in the book like wife battery, incest, murder, and a lot of sex scenes too. So, really not for kids. Weird enough, now that I finished it I have this feeling that I want to read it again. Since this is a mystery novel, a lot of the truths were revealed in the end of the book. And I just wanted to read it again in a perspective that I already knew the secrets and the mysteries of the stories. However, I knew that I really don't have the opportunity to do that. I just thought it was amazing how these characters and these characters have met and their lives were changed because of that. It was just amazing. I can't really explain it very well, but as I've said I really loved this book.

Yay! Finally, I finished this monstrous book. Seriously reading it feels like it was even longer than the HBO series which has ten episodes. Anyway I really like this book and I think presently I am very obsessed with it. I am even considering to have it as my top 1 favorite book of all time and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins needs to step down and give that spot to Game of Thrones. However, I think I just need to finish reading the other books to make it more fair to the other books that I have read. I just need to invest more in these books and then I will decide if it's really my favorite book of all time. So yeah what can I say, but YOU HAVE TO READ IT! YOU REALLY HAVE TO READ IT! (Yes I love to be redundant) I have read a lot of books, more than 200 and seriously this book feels like it was the best I have read in all my life (I know I sounded cheesy). Seriously read it folks. Spoiler Alert ***If you're not interested with me talking about nonsense things just scroll down and my book review is down there somewhere. Why did I read this book? So I came upon Game of Thrones because of my father who was watching something in his laptop (at first I thought it was a movie) and this is the scene that I have seen at that time... ![]() So the scene was like this beautiful, naked woman surrounded by baby dragons and I was just curious about it (I mean who wouldn't be curious?). Then I just asked him... Me: What are you watching? Dad: I'm watching Game of Thrones At that time I am not really sure, but I know that there is a book called Game of Thrones and it was written by someone whose name is Martin because I've seen a couple of book reviews by some of my friends here in goodreads. Me: Game of Thrones. Is that movie came from the book Game of Thrones? Dad: I don't have any idea of it being a book. Really? Is it a book too? It is not a movie, but a TV series btw. I was watching it because it is about political dynamics blah blah blah...fantasy blah blah blah...dragons blah blah blah... So after that I just really got curious and I asked first in a forum here in goodreads if Game of Thrones the book has a TV series. And they said yes it has a TV series on HBO. And I don't know I just really like that scene with the baby dragons Book Review with ***MAJOR SPOILERS*** (both from the book and the TV series) So I read the book and I was very disappointed with the prologue because: 1. The writing style is PURPLE PROSE. Ugh. 2. I don't really know what the hell is happening and it's just...I don't know what the hell am I reading and then I decided to read it another time and read other books. So I give up the first time and second time reading it I got past the damn prologue. And I still can't get into the story because: 1. Multiple POVs 2. There's like so many like really a lot of characters and I still don't know what the hell the story is all about. But then after a few chapters (like maybe about 10% of the book) I get used to it even with the purple prose. And then I am not confused with the characters anymore and somehow I begin to understand what's the story is about. So it's started with the Stark family in Winterfell (let's just get this somehow organized) House of Stark Location: Winterfell Sigil: Direwolf Words: Winter is coming Lord Eddard Stark: Lord of Winterfell, will become hand of the king, will be beheaded somewhere in the story ***I love his character and actually I've kind of known that he will be beheaded in the end because of a youtube Hitler video I accidentally watched here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kLSYT... I am used with my favorite characters dying in books that I read but it still shocked me that the author killed the main character in the first book of the series. I've heard that the author is somehow crazy and he wants to write a book about good guys dying and evil reigns in the end. I think the author just want to be different from the norm. I don't know I am very disappointed that he died because it's very disheartening and depressing and I actually love him both in the book and in the TV Series. Catelyn Tully Stark: Lady Stark, wife of Eddard Stark ***I also like this character. She's not perfect and she still has flaws like she is very kind to her husband her children, but she's like an evil stepmother to Jon Snow. Robb- eldest son, has a direwolf named Grey Wind (not really sure about the direwolf's name) ***I also love this character. I think he really progresses a lot from this book alone. From being a boy to a commander to a King (King in the North as they say) Sansa- girly, betrothed to Prince Joeffrey of House of Lanister-Barratheon, has a direwolf named Lady ***My sister and our maid are my companies in watching the HBO TV series when I bought the DVD. My sister actually hates Sansa and she thinks that this character is stupid, but I actually don't hate Sansa. I somehow like her character. She's very innocent and somehow very idealistic. I just like her and it's really sad when her direwolf Lady was killed because of the Queen. I don't know I'm very scared of what will happen to her now that she's with the Lannisters in the end. Arya- tomboy, has a direwolf named Nymeria ***I like Arya more than Sansa. She's more of a tomboy and she liked sword fighting and she's also a very sweet girl. I like the earlier parts when she is together with her brother Jon Snow. Bran- loves climbing, will be crippled somewhere in the story, has a direwolf named Summer ***I actually like Bran he's a free spirit and he likes climbing. I don't know, but I'm also afraid for this character because he became crippled. I just don't want him to be hurt or killed. Rickon- youngest son, has a direwolf named Shaggydog ***For most of the time Rickon doesn't appear so much in the story. So I don't really feel anything about him. Jon Snow- bastard of Eddard Stark, real mother unknown, has a direwolf named Ghost, will join the Night's Watch somewhere in the story ***I also really like this character. He has the most interesting story. He's a bastard. He doesn't know who is her mother. And I just like him and Ghost. I also like the conversations between him and Tyrion in the earlier parts of the book. House of Barratheon-Lannister (Royal Family) Location: King's Landing Sigil: Barratheon- Stag, Lannister: Lion Words: Barratheon- Ours is the Fury, Lannister: Hear Me Roar King Robert Barratheon- will be killed by a boar somewhere in the story ***He actually reminds me of Pres. Erap Estrada (you will know what I'm talking about if you're a Filipino). He's not really a good leader like he just wants to drink and to have sex with whores and he's very corrupt, but in spite of all that he's very charismatic and influential. He's actually very funny too. Queen Cersei Lannister Barratheon- Queen of the seven kingdoms, has a secret affair with her brother Jamie Lannister ***I actually like Cersei. She's very cunning and bitchy. She's also has this side of her that I felt very sympathetic and I kind of get where she's coming from and why she did all of these things. She's a very complex character. Prince Joeffrey- in truth he's Jamie Lannister's bastard ***I really dislike him from the very beginning. I think the author really made this character very unlikable. I don't care if he will be killed in the next books. House of Lannister Location: Casterly Rock Sigil: Lion Words: Hear Me Roar Lord Tywin- was hand of the King to Aerys Targaryen, rich man ***I don't hate this guy. He's pretty okay for me. Jamie Lannister- Kingslayer, killed the King he sworn to protect ***even if he's a villain, I don't really hate him and I like that he cares for Tyrion and Cersei. I think he's actually a good guy. Tyrion Lannister- dwarf, youngest son ***I think this guy has the quotable lines in the book. I really like this character in spite him being a dwarf. He is very good with words and using his brain. Very interesting character. House of Targaryen Location: Vas Dothrak (I forgot exactly the complete name) Sigil: Dragon Words: Fire and Blood (something like that) Viserys- got killed somewhere in the story ***pompous, another unlikable character Daenyrys- she's the one in the first picture, the one with the baby dragons ***her journey is actually amazing. It's like at first she was not sure and then her character became stronger and then she faces these terrible trials and her husband and son died, but in the end she got baby dragons. So what the hell right, she got dragons. You know what I'm the type of reader that even though I know that they are fictional characters I still take it personally that the characters died. And I'm a Filipina and they say that we like happy endings and we like the main character to triumph in the end. However, because the author was really cruel and brutal and heartless killing off characters like he doesn't really care. I don't know it's just really irritating. But what the hell right I still like the story and the characters and I'll be prepared and I know a lot of them will be killed. I'll just cry when that happen. So I make a list of my favorite characters that I do not want to get killed: 1. Jon Snow 2. Daenyrys 3. Tyrion 4. Arya 5. Bran 6. Robb 7. Jamie Maybe I can handle three or four deaths from these character list that I made, but if all of them died, I swear by the seven Gods I will stop reading. In terms of comparing the book to the TV series I like the TV series better because the book is written very purple, verbose and overly detailed (yes I indeed love to be redundant). The TV series is more polished and edited and the book is too damn long. Read the books if you can't wait for the next season that will come out next year. (less) | Notes are private!

Do you love the desert? ![]() Do you love cage fighting? ![]() and worms? ![]() ![]() ![]() If you're cool with those things, then I got to say YOU HAFTA READ THIS! When I started reading Blood Red Road I did not like it that much because the beginning was a little bit cheesy especially when they talked about stars and prophecy. Also, the writing style did not help, there are a lot of spelling mistakes and grammatical mistakes. I know that this writing style was used by Patrick Ness on his Chaos Walking Trilogy and I also have the impression that Moira Young stole the idea. The words in this one spells like how they would sound like for example: exactly will be something like ezackly, stomach will be stummick, respect will be respek, afraid will be something like afeard and so on and so forth There are also grammar mistakes on the subject and verb agreement like I says was used rather I say. But once you start reading it you will get used to it in the end. Just like what happen to me when I read The Knife of Never Letting Go. Once you meet Miz Pinch that is when the story will get more exciting. If there is a one word that I can describe what Blood Red Road is, it will be Adventure. Once you read this, you are brought to different places, different situations and different characters. I really like the places they are different and I can just imagine them. The world Moira Young creates is really something. It's like Graceling and Lord of the Rings, the world is just rich. The Silverlake, Hopetown, Freedom fields, etc. There are many places and they are really amazing. It is also unpredictable I'm always looking forward to what will happen next. There are a lot of characters from the good ones and the bad ones. I really like them Saba, Lugh, Emmi, Jack, Epona, Ash, Maev, Helen, Tommo, Demalo, Miz Pinch, the King, all of them. The characters are really great you will root for them, and care for them like they are real. The love story was also a good one Saba and Jack. Saba is stubborn and strong. She reminds me of Katniss and Katsa. Jack is happy go lucky, cocky and teasy. He reminds me of the lead guy in Tangled ...Finnick, and Jace Wayland. That's it! I really like it because of: 1. The world building 2. The characters 3. The love story SPOILER ALERT!!! My favorite part is the one (view spoiler)[when they are in the river Saba and Maev was there bathing in the river and Jack came. Maev left and Saba and Jack were talking and then Jack wanted to take a bath too and he teased Saba if she wanted to watch him and he started to count one two three trying to remove his trousers and Saba ran (hide spoiler)] And there are times that Jack will be shirtless ![]() and I'm thinking ![]() SPOILER ALERT!!! Maybe what I didn't like about it is the ending because I expected that (view spoiler)[killing the King would not be that easy (hide spoiler)] and it (view spoiler)[ended like all is well (hide spoiler)]. (view spoiler)[How about the next book? Who will be the villain and what will be the conflict? (hide spoiler)] I just hope the next one is just as exciting as the first one. The plot is action-packed, there are lots of running, shooting, and fighting. These days I've been addicted in watching Nikita an American T.V. Show about a group of assassins. While watching the show I missed reading Divergent because it made me remember the initiation of Tris in the dauntless faction when Alex, a character from Nikita is undergoing her training to become an assassin. That's why I'm really excited in reading the sequel and to go back to Tris' world. I think that's the good thing that I liked from this series because it's full of action. Although, in this sequel Tris is traumatized and she is having problems holding a gun, which is acceptable because of what happened at the end of Divergent. So, it became more complicated because Tris can only use knife or any other weapons except gun. This book is also more suspenseful and the horror is more psychological. A lot of the characters here have been controlled because of the serum and simulation. It also became hard to know who are the allies and who are the enemies. It has a lot of intrigue and in the end it seems like the enemy is not the enemy and the friend is not the friend. I find myself confused and I like it because there are a lot of surprises, twists that I didn't see coming and great reveals. The ending is amazing and mind-blowing. I feel like I really wanted to tell someone about it because it's really shocking and I just need someone to talk to. It's crazy, the ending is just 'oh my God I want to know what happens next'! There are talks about which one was better this series of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. And let me tell you this, Mockingjay for me was a little bit disappointing and if the ending of this series will surpassed THG...I might prefer this series over THG. :) _______ Thank goodness I have money and thus I can buy a copy of Insurgent. This series is too good to not buy the books. Will probably go to the bookstore tomorrow. :) ________________________________________________________________ OH EM GEE The cover is out and its gorgeous ^_____^ me likes it. ___________ Oh my gosh! I never really expected it but here I am hooked with another series. It's like a really long time since I'm excited for the next book. The waiting, the agony but there's also excitement. Of course Harry Potter, Twilight, Vampire Academy, Percy Jackson, The Mortal Instruments and my most loved of all The Hunger Games has long ended. But with every good series and trilogies that end I'm happy that there are new series and trilogies that emerge. Can't freaking wait! (less) | Notes are private!

Also one of my friends here, Rollie, even mentioned that he liked Divergent more than the Hunger Games. And of course, I trust these people, when they say that a book is amazing, for sure I know it is true. Then I'm itching to read it, but the problem was, I've no money and I'm even finding a hard time looking for the copy at our National Bookstore. Then, came the time that we went to Mall of Asia and, we're kind of celebrating my 20th birthday and our waiting place was the National Bookstore and I've seen Divergent in the New Releases Section. I think it was really the approriate time, I've money and it's my birthday (4 days kind of late, actually) and I decided to have a birthday treat. So for those who haven't read it yet I heartily recommend it. It is a Young Adult Book. The genre is dystopian. The futuristic world in Divergent is divided into five factions... ![]() Abnegation (The Selfless)- symbol: a hand helping another hand Amity (The Peaceful)- symbol: a tree Erudite (The Intelligent)- symbol: an eye Dauntless (The Brave)- symbol: a flame *this is also the symbol in the bookcover Candor (The Honest)- symbol: scale If you want to watch the book trailer here it is: http://youtu.be/tu5Erw-posg If you're wondering what the term Divergent means it actually means that you can fit to two or more factions. You will know more about it reading the book. What I really liked about the book is the world the author has created, at first I thought it was really idealistic, but when I'm reading it, I surmised it is flawed (of course I'm reading Dystopia, you know the 101, government and system is corrupted blah blah blah) and it is also more like political so it's really thought provoking and intriguing. I also like that there's romance in this book, but there's no love triangle, so I think it's different. It's a mix of adventure, lots of fighting and there's training and simulation tests, there's mystery, there's political intrigue, there's humor, lots of violent scenes and it also has romance. So boys and girls I think would love it. I also like that there's a lot of betrayal, a lot of twists and turns and for most of the time it's not really what I expected. I've been thinking that it could be a contender for the Hunger Games, but I'm not 100% sure if this one is better since this is only the first book in the series. So my decision if Divergent is better than Hunger Games will be decided I think after reading all the books in the trilogy. PS: I think if I will have to choose for a faction, I'll be Erudite. :) Note: With spoiler, to those who have read it, just scroll down ![]() ![]() ![]() Yay spoilers ^^ The scenes that I did not expect: 1. So while reading it I never really expect that Caleb will choose to be Erudite, I knew that Beatrice will choose Dauntless because of a youtube review I've watched. 2. I was also shocked when I've learned that Beatrice's mom is a former Dauntless and she was killed in the end of the book, I thought that the author would spare her life. And even Tris' dad she had it killed at the first book. 3. Four's real identity. I thought that when at the start of the book when they're talking about Tobias and Marcus it never really crossed in my mind that that conversation would be important. And Four is Tobias and then at the end of the book he was reunited with his dad. I don't know if Marcus was really an evil character, I think we'll know more about it as the series progresses. 4. The end part of this book really came out as a shocker. There's war, there's genocide and all came out really intense and violent. There are important characters that were killed like Will and Tris killed her. Tris' mom and dad were killed. A lot of Abnegations were killed. And we don't know what will happen to Tori and Christina. 5. Two factions are left in chaos and we don't know what will happen to the Dauntless and the Abnegation. And it seems that for a while they will be factionless. I'm not also really sure what will happen in Amity and Candor if they will support the Abnegation refugees or the Erudites. I never would have thought that I'll have the chance to read this book, for the reason that I don't even know that this book exist. However, when I once again attended a meet-up by The Filipino Group in Goodreads last April 10 2011, which was also a celebration of the first anniversary of the group, Kwesi and I had the opportunity to swap books. I have given him the book 1st to Die by James Patterson and he gave this book to me, which I don't have any idea what the book is all about. But judging on the title "Godless" I have a feeling that it will delve on Religion and Atheism. Reading the backcover of it I was already fascinated, a teenage boy bored of his parent's religion (Catholicism) decided one summer to create his own religion, which was Chutengodianism, a new worship which fundamentally believe that the Town's Water Tower was the one and true God. A big part of me immediately relate to that kid. I would say that I also found going to churh, listening to priest, praying rosary, reading the bible etc. boring. Most of the time, I believe I am a non-believer, an atheist, but no I think a Skeptic is the perfect word for me. I want to believe in God but I wanted proof, I want to see it before I believe it. I find it really funny that this book is so natural. There are a lot of things the character said about Religion specifically Catholicism that are really offensive. I'm thinking if you're a believer of Christian Faith you might find it blasphemous or the book was like questioning Religion and it puts Religion on a bad state and there are a lot of the propaganda but for me it doesn't felt contrived or it doesn't felt like I was forced to believe in it. It's like here's the thing, think about it and it's not like here's the thing, believe in it. If that even makes sense. I also love that the book is very funny and sarcastic. It's like reading this, I laughed out loud and I can't stop it. I even think about it's like a long time ago a book made me feel that way. And yeah I found books that made me laugh, special. It's like a very nice friend that could lighten up your mood and will give you a stomachache for its dry wit. It's a very nice read and I really recommend it, just be open minded especially if you're a Catholic. I don't find questioning faith and God wrong or even found Atheists bad people. It's a very thought provoking and imaginative book that would really got you thinking about your own faith as well. I also find the ending of it satisfying and it's a great way to end the book. Jason, the main character ended it with an epiphany or a reflection about himself, and there is that uncertainty about him and what he really believes in, that I find amazing and haunting.(less) | Notes are private!

I think I’m one of the few fortunate people in Goodreads who actually have been given 3 free books, as of this year 2011 (And I’m talking of real, tangible books not just e-books). First I've won in the Goodreads Giveaways (I’m not confabulating its really true) and I’ve got two books Envy and Chill Factor by Sandra Brown delivered at my doorstep and it was autographed…Oh My Gosh. And then my luck of receiving free books doesn’t end there. This book that I’m reviewing Before Ever After was given as a birthday gift by Ms. Samantha Sotto, the author of this book. If you’re wondering how it happened, if I received it because I won again in a giveaway or if the author is my friend in real life, no that was not how it happened. What happened was I added this book in my gargantuan to-read list and then when I was reading the book info I noticed that the book will come out on my birthday which is August 2. And then I wrote a review saying, “You know what, this book will come out on my birthday. :) No kidding. I love it already,” and then Ms. Sam Sotto have read my review and gave me a message that she love to give me a copy of her book on my birthday. And I was like: ![]() Of course since that was really cute and sweet and heartwarming that the author herself has read my review and she even think of giving me a book on my birthday *sniff sniff* (which was actually a first time for me, even though I really love books I never got them as birthday presents, however I got a home library as a graduation present). Okay to make a super long story short I’ve met Sam personally during the 5th meet up of The Filipino Group in Goodreads and she handed it to me and I’ve even got the chance to have it autographed. And this is how it looked like: ![]() ***Die envious folks...teehee*** So okay done with the introduction and now let's get into reviewing...to be more organized I'm going to write the pros and then the cons... So here goes. Pros: 1. I really like the short stories/subplots/folktales inside the story. I can't really explain it but these stories are really unique and they are really interesting. The first subplot (something about a revolution)I think while reading it I even say a bad word out loud because I was just really shocked and thank goodness I was alone in my bedroom so no one really heard me utter those bad words. And then the second subplot was my favorite of all (it was the Basilisk Story) I remember the format was kind of similar to the Shrieking Shack story of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. To make it more clear (I think if you’re a Potter fan, you’ll understand what I’m saying) do you remember when I think Hermione told Ron about the story of a ghost howling in the Shrieking Shack and that’s how it got it name (Shrieking..Get it?) And then later in the story we learned the truth that it was not a ghost but (view spoiler)[Lupin when he transformed into a werewolf that makes the sound (hide spoiler)]. So in this book it was similar to that, there’s a story about a Basilisk but later the true story about it came out. Also I like the very last story, the story of Maximus and Livia. It was another great subplot and I remember I even have palpitations reading it. It was just intense, I can’t really describe it. 2. I like how she can write from one genre to another. First it was a mystery and then there’s romance, there’s adventure, there’s historical fiction mix with fantasy and supernatural and then there’s also humor. She can make me laugh, sometimes I feel intrigued and then it can be sweet, it can be tragic, it can be informative. It was a mix of light and heavy. The heaviness of the subplots which in general are tragic stories is lightened and layered by the humor of Max and the campers. She can also play with different timelines, different settings and different characters and that made me decide that this book is a book that is hard to write, it has its complexities and despite the fact that there are things that I didn’t like I still think that it deserve a 5 star rating, not just because the author gave this to me and I owe her a good review but I think she really deserve it because of the fact that she have write a good novel. Cons: 1. The one thing that I didn’t like in this book was the ending. While I was reading Maximus and Livia’s story as I’ve mentioned I was having palpitations and I was like I’ll give the book a solid five stars but then come to the end of the book I was disappointed because the ending was made in such a haste. I think the epilogue has only four sentences and I know it was (view spoiler)[a happy ending (hide spoiler)] but it was really confusing and I’m not really sure if the elements of (view spoiler)[Immortality, how Max became immortal was properly explained, how Shelly became Immortal as well (hide spoiler)] It was very confusing, I didn’t quite get it. But still I think minus the unclear ending it was a good read. I recommend it to all my friends and to Ms. Samantha Sotto, congratulations on your debut novel. I’ll look forward for more. It have been a long while since I last watch the anime Claymore. It's one of my favorite anime series of all time. I really like it but I just hated the ending because it is a cop out. Anyways, I really like this manga I downloaded from manga epub because the translations are really good unlike when I read Death Note and Doubt wherein I found the translations badly written.(less) | Notes are private!

How can I not give this 5 stars? How can I not? It was really amazing and this book really defines what epic fantasy is! It was just great, the world (Middle earth), the characters (especially the hobbits) and the story itself. I have been a fan of the movie since I was in High School and I didn't even watch the Fellowship of the Rings first because I started with The Two Towers movie and then Return of the King and then The Fellowship (I sometimes watch movies this way). And even if a lot of my friends back then are hardcore Harry Potter movie fans (and I am also a hardcore HP fan) I always answer when ask what my favorite movie is, it's always Lord of the Rings (still it's my favorite movie I think). So, my love for Lord of the Rings was already there when I started reading this one. I didn't have the chance to read it before because the copy in our school library was really thick and heavy. I also can't find an e-book copy online but thanks to one of my friend here in goodreads I've got the chance to finally read it. I must say if you're really into fantasy you've got to read this. This has been the greatest fantasy book ever written and it has inspired J. K. Rowling, George Martin and a lot of authors and it is also the inspiration to a lot of computer games like Warcraft. So yeah read it if you have the time. The book was a little bit boring at first but once the characters were on Rivendell the pace will pick up. I also find the book better than the movie because I think Aragorn is more interesting in the book than in the movie. The story about the origin of the ring and the other rings are much clearly told. And a lot of the other parts that are missed out in the movie you can read in the book. My only complaint about the book is that it has a lot of song lyrics like I think for every chapter the hobbits or the elves will sing and it was just blah and then I skimmed reading those parts :). But, overall it's a great read can be a little bit purple prosey but it's tolerable and uhmm I just can't wait to read the next one. (less) | Notes are private!

So Naruto, what can I say, I'm obsessed with the anime, and since my cousin was like spoiling things, like Sasuke kills Hitachi but Hitachi was not a bad guy blah blah blah...So I'm like Sasuke what? Hitachi what? So my curiosity finally got me and then my cousin recommend this site onemanga wherein you can read manga scans for free and then I started to read not the beginning of the series because it's too long and it will took lot of months (I think) to finish it. So I started to read the Shippuuden (don't know if I spelled it right) and then yeah I was hooked! I was liked reading from morning till midnight and my mom was like, "Masisira yung computer sa ginagawa mo!" (translation: something like I'm gonna make the computer destroyed or whatever). Yeah I'm obsessed with it, so I recommend it, I only read this because of Sasuke (love love him) PS: Hey I wrote a fanfic for Naruto, read it here: My Brother is a Narutard(less) | Notes are private!

I love this book. It's easy to read, straight-forward and memorable. I immediately fell in love with the story because of the characters. Atticus Finch, Jem and of course Scout. It brings you back to your childhood when life is easy and you're always playing with your siblings, friends and neighbors. The time when you always look up to your parents and your parent/s will be your teacher, friend and role model. If you liked Tom Sawyer or the first half of The Book Thief you might like the first part of "To Kill a Mockingbird." To be honest, reading the middle part becomes tedious and I just want something big to happen. So, I stopped reading for a while and watched Nikita (American TV Show). After I finished that, I resumed my reading and right then I couldn't stop reading because it became really interesting. One thing that haunts me and angers me is that it doesn't end the way I liked it to be. Reading the first part, it felt like a fairy tale. I was really hoping that it will be a happy ending for Robinson. I felt like I was slapped by the author. This is the sad reality that she wanted me to read and to experience. I knew that it was obvious, the title itself is a foreshadowing. It's a tragic story of injustice and racial discrimination. I just felt really bad reading it especially the parts when a child read a current event about Adolf Hitler and what he's doing in Germany. In America the Whites discriminate the Blacks, in Germany the Germans discriminate the Jews. This book is an eye-opener and I learned a lot of things. I hope that I'll be able to treat everyone equally without prejudice and discrimination. (less) | Notes are private!

If you do, you start missing everybody." God I love this book. First of all it's kind of hard to explain why I love Catcher in the Rye since my reasons are highly personal and I was not even in the mood explaining some of my past life experiences just for you to understand why I felt such great connection and empathy with Holden Caufield. Just put it this way that once in my teenage life I've experienced alienation and depression. It was painful and it really made me sad and depressed that through this novel I was able to remember those things that I really don't want to even remember. See I am depressed. This book made me depressed. It just made me realized some things like when maybe sometime in the future you'll meet someone, a person who doesn't have anyone to talk to, it is important that you listen to them, just listen, and maybe that was enough for them. Sometimes this world and this life is such a sad place to live in but if you know that there is someone willing to stay with you or be your friend, it doesn't seem so sad anymore. More Things I like about it: 1. It was an easy read, even if it's a Classic book surprisingly it was very easy to read unlike Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby (note: I didn't even finish these two books because my head exploded while I was reading them). 2. It was very similar to The New Dress by Virginia Woolf and what a surprise they even have the same "stream of consciousness" style and the "non-linear plot" style. Mind you I love The New Dress but Catcher in the Rye was way better. 3. Symbolism: ![]() -ducks= was actually Holden Caufield ***When Holden Caufield was asking the cab driver what will happen to the ducks in the pond during Winter. What he was actually trying to say is that: "What will happen to me during this winter?" -red hunting hat= security blanket -when Holden says "You" in the narrative he actually means "I" One Thing I Don't Like About It 1. The book was very "Anti-Girl" I just didn't like it that Holden says so many negative things about women and that he really generalizes women. Like for example he had an experience with this girl and he'll say something negative about it and then after that he will generalize it that "All girls are like that" and that was really way over the belt and that's just faulty generalization. I am a girl and all the negative things mention in this book about "girls in general" were highly ridiculous and so not true. Okay, I've read Saving Francesca after I've read On The Jellicoe Road, which was also a book by Melina Marchetta. These two books I borrowed from another goodreads member, his name is Veneficus and last July we swapped books. I gave him The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan and he gave me the two Marchetta books. When I'm deciding which one to read first I picked On The Jellicoe Road over Saving Francesca, because I've read a lot of glowing reviews about the former and when they talked about Melina Marchetta, it's always read On The Jellicoe Road. Unfortunately I was disappointed after reading On The Jellicoe. It's not that I didn't like it, I think I still gave it three stars (which means in goodreads' perspective--I liked it)however I thought that I would love it and gave it 5 stars like majority of my friends here, but I think three stars were enough. Sorry. However I was not discouraged to read her other works, thus I've read Saving Francesca still. And uhm before I read the book I looked into the back cover because after reading On The Jellicoe I was a little bit hesitant I will be disappointed again. From the back cover it says... ST. SEBASTIAN'S I don't know if I'm a little bit high with coffee that day but that made me laugh and from that I somehow have a feeling that maybe I would like this book more. I would say that the book is your typical Teenager book. main character is an outcast, new girl on a school, have no friends yet ![]() and there's the feeling of "School Sucks" ![]() and of course the never dying "Self discovery and where do I belong?" ![]() and I know, I know it is a little bit predictable but nevertheless I still loved it because even though the plot's simple its a story about a teenager, her family, her struggles, her friendships and finding more about herself as I've said it's very typical but the characters are very memorable, they are very diverse, and what I really like also was the dialogues, it's funny, it's entertaining, it's sweet, and when you read the lines you'll be smiling, laughing or having a "goofy grin" in your face. I think it's special in its own way and I can't believe I'm saying this now, "Hey Marchetta, I'm a fan!" I recommend it if you like Sarah Dessen's The Truth About Forever, if you like Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles and the likes. :) And btw I think I should end this review by thanking Veneficus for giving me a chance to read Marchetta's works. Don't worry I'll probably return it on Wednesday. Maraming salamat.(less) | Notes are private!

(I'm going to use Q & A style of reviewing this time) What made you pick-up the book? > I actually watched a book trailer in Youtube (the link to that vid was way down there somewhere) so and yeah I got intrigued by that video and then I go to goodreads and read reviews about it. I was a bit shock about the mix reviews, some was positive and some was negative. So because of it I think I should read it so I have to know for myself if it's good or not. What are your expectations before reading it? > I actually have lower expectations since I've read a couple of negative reviews and they said it was very similar to The Giver by Lois Lowry. Honestly I didn't like The Giver (I just gave it two stars) and at first I thought that maybe I wouldn't like the book but at least I'd love to give utopia a second try. What do you love about the book? >Okay there are many things I love about this book: a. Writing Style- it was prose with a mix of poetry (somewhat lyrical) so if you adore Maggie Stiefvater's or Carrie Ryan's style of writing you probably would love Ally Condie's style as well. b. Cassia (the heroine)- actually the heroine was not annoying and she has a strong voice. To be more specific, her character at first was a weak one and as the story progresses, her way of thinking changes and it got deeper and deeper. She actually got a good character development and she has a lot of epiphanies about her so-called perfect society and that's what I love about her. Everything around her seems perfect when you look at it superficially but when you try to analyze it deeper there society was perfect but they have no choices, no freedom at all, they're like society's puppets. c. The love story- at first the love story was idk just a love story, but it has actually implies idk what you call that uhhhm symbolism or whatever...so yeah this is what I just think about it: Xander vs Ky or this could mean (own interpretation folks) Conformity vs. Rebellion Known vs. Unknown Perfection vs. Imperfection Love that was dictated by Society vs. Love that was dictated by oneself d. Ky and Cassia's relationship- it builds up (it actually builds up *sorry for the repetition folks*). So yeah I just wanna rant those other books wherein yeah the boy meets girl or rather the girl meets boy and then baaaaaaam for 5 seconds they freaking love each other (like they're soulmates or idk destined for each other *gags*). Come on that was so unrealistic when authors do that, it seems they're too lazy to write the part of you know "getting-to-know-each-other" part of a relationship *coughs*. So yeah :) that was what I like about this book, I mean yeah whatever idk how to explains it but they actually have that "getting-to-know-each-other" thingy. And idk when I was reading this book I felt like I'm not reading it (if you know what I mean), I felt like I was existing inside the book. Like I was Cassia and I felt all her emotions and I empathize with her problems and I can see her world right into my eyes. So yeah I just felt that while I was reading this, I would definitely pick every choices that Cassia made. I know that in my hearts of heart I would fall in love with Ky even though it was forbidden, even though my Society says that Xander was the one I was suppose to marry. I mean there's just something about Ky that pulls you into him even if it was dangerous. Ky was mysterious and his story was what urge me to know more about him (just like Cassia). Is it that wonderful when you actually was curious to know more about a person because of his/her imperfection and rather of his/her perfection? What do you hate about the book? a. It was unoriginal. > Actually there's something about this book that screams out Rip-off and Plagiarism *ever read The Giver and Hunger Games?*. Yeah but I think since this book was in the genre of utopia/dystopia, maybe there were just a few things/elements that will be always similar like: -The Political Intrigue -Human vs. Society -Rebellion -"The Government/Society Lied" thingy or "Your whole life was a lie" thingy -the protagonist will always have moments of "Epiphany" on the book -Social Manipulation sort of stuff -Philosophical and Political morals/ideas that would be shove into your throat as the storyline progresses b. I felt that the book was idk the term uhhhhm "bridge" or "exposition/ introduction" for the other books. I mean in this book there are hints that some people outside the province were actually rebelling and there's like a war blah blah blah. But in this book the rebellion was not yet elaborated so I think that will be for the next books to come. c. I love it but the ending, I felt that it wasn't an ending at all. Idk there are so many questions that are left hanging and I felt that to be able to really judge this book you need to read the whole series and how things will be played out in the end. So yeah I need the next book pretty fast! What are other books you want to recommend with the same genre? Okay so I just list them here, I'll divide dystopia and utopia and will sort of rank them out: Dystopia: 1. (5stars)
(5stars)
(both 1 star and 5stars)2. (5stars)
(2stars)3. (5stars)4. (4stars)
(2stars)Utopia: 1. (5stars)2. (2stars)3. (2stars)Note: Weeeeee! I just finished Matched and it was AMAZING. I want more!!! I love Ky Markham btw he kinda reminds me of someone *daydream for a moment* *coughs* (Eeeeeeeeeeek, *violently shoves someone*)Yeah and I just want to share a conversation with my classmate here: Joyzi: Hey I recommend you to read the Hunger Games it was so amazing blah blah blah and I read it like in one sitting cuz I can't put it down and Peeta was so sweet and everything blah blah blah, best book ever blah blah (So yeah I think I just recommend Matched by Ally Condie to my friend, because this book has zero violence but has an amazing Dystopia theme *it was quite similar to the Giver but this one has romance and the writing was breathtakingly beautiful*) Yeah, idk what else to say, I will have an in depth review of the book on Sunday. ********************************************************** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaeNWL... So I just happen to go in a bookstore and saw this pinkish sort of orangery book and I thought it look like a candy and I want to Then before I read this I search the book on Goodreads because I've no idea what's this book is all about and who was the author Lisa Kleypas. So I found out that Kleypas has so many psycho fans that I was really excited to read it and I was jumping up and down(usual stuff I did when I get uber-excited). I'm doing this review by fractions okay(Wow it sounds so geeky >.< Eeeeek) 1/3 Okay reading the 1/3 of the book I was already hooked and a little bit giddy by the romance between Hardy and Liberty. It was really cute sort of childhood sweetheart kind of high school romance kind of stuff. Your first crush, first love, first infatuation, young love yada yada. It was really entertaining and sweet that while reading this I have an idiotic smile on my face. Like this one. DesiComments.com | Babies (Funny) | Forward this Picture 2/3 2/3 of the book by this time Hardy was long gone and Liberty was sort of being an independent woman raising her sister Carrington all by herself since her mom died. Then he met this really old guy 63 years old who was rich and all that his name was Churchill Travis and they were kinda flirting with each other. That really tips me off because I have this hunch that Churchill and Liberty will hook up and have sex as the title implied (Sugar Daddy). And I felt like this book is SICK, why was many of GR peeps like this stuff are they crazy weirdos. Then I just skim the story because I'm eager to find out if my hunch was correct and if it did I decided that I will not finish this one. 3/3 Now there's a new character introduced to the story Gage, Churchill's son and by then I surmised that my hunch was wrong and Liberty and Gage where the one going to be lovey dovey not LibertyxChurchill. So Gage, what can I say, I fuckin' hate him because of his name. See Gage= Gale Am I really weird/psycho but every time I've read Gage in the book I want to burn it down! It's just that Gage reminds me of Gale and just just don't start me up with Gale now, when I think of him I swear it will make me cuss like And I find myself uttering I hate you But it's really weird like after a few scenes I found myself falling in love with Confusing much? Sorry I guess I mixed up this two books, well anyways I'm just bitching but I really love So what made me gave this 5 stars? (You may ask) 1. It's funny and entertaining, the scenes that really crack me up is the 68 thingy and when Carrington swallowed a penny. 2. The story delves about issues like Racism and Parenting. 3. The twists in the end about Carrington surprised me like, "WTF It's Like A Fucking Jodi Picoult Novel." Though I figured out before it was revealed that Hardy was a betrayer since it was fucking predictable. 4. Love the characters, they are relatable and real. 5. I love that it's very feministic and this books makes me happy that I am a woman. 6. Very informative about the pregnancy, business, love life and I'm surprised that this author knew about Defense Mechanisms (which was actually one of my fave topics in Psychiatric Nursing) I love how she can put the "projection" on the dialogues. 7. This also made me cried btw the part wherein Liberty realizes how hard it is for parents when they're children became rebellious and ingrate. It dawned on me that yesterday I shouted at my mom and now because of this book I feel sorry for what I did. This made me realize that we shouldn't shout at our moms because we really owe them so much things that it's unfair to really hurt them. Okay I'm going to shut up now. Just read this folks, highly recommended! (less) | Notes are private!

Actually I'm gonna buy the Hunger Games paperback instead since I want my own copy of it but unfortunately it was out of stock and this one caught my eye. __________________ ***Book Review*** ***Introduction*** First off let me start by saying that reading the dedication part of this book made me So Rick Riordan is a Greek mythology teacher in middle school and he used to tell Greek bedtime stories to his son Haley and eventually he ran out of myths so he think of creating a new story for Haley. So here is the part that struck me Haley was diagnosed to have ADHD and dyslexia and that's the reason why Percy Jackson is created as a demigod with ADHD and dyslexia. I have to admit that when I've first heard about the story --Okay intro over, Book Review Time!-- For Those who haven't read the book yet... What's To Expect In This Book: 1. It's Percy Jacksonish, meaning if you like Percy Jackson you'll like this one too. 2. New Characters: Jason(a kid who just have an amnesia), Piper (a kid who has the power of persuasion, she thought that she was Jason's girlfriend, he's dad was kidnapped) and Leo (he's talent is making tools, armors etc.) 3. Different Character Perspectives: Jason, Piper and Leo (Note: Having this one have pros and cons.) Pros: You'll get to know the character better (character creation more effective this time) Cons: This will slows the plot, the exposition alone will eat up half of the book, the quest will start halfway of the book) 3. Humor- Every page never fails to crack me up. 4. Adventure- (New Quest, New Prophecy, New Mythologies, emphasis on Roman Mythologies now) 5. Romance- Still Rick Riordan Style (Subtle and Cute) 6. Element of Surprise- Some of the things like the claiming of who their God moms or dads surprised me. 7. The surprise at the end pawned! Can't wait for the next one! 8. A glossary of the gods at the end of the book (love it!>.<) My Spoilery Review For those who have already read it. ***Just scroll down***

Graphics for Funny Picture Comments OH MY GODS! or should I say HOLY HEPHAESTUS! I was really excited with this new camp of other Roman demigods and WTH Percy Jackson and Jason switch places!!! I swear I need the next book right now. Rick Riordan how can you do this to me!!! I'm hyperventilating right now lol Yeah and I really love the characters, they're like so cool and cute and funny. Leo was the joker of the group and I really really love him. I wish that in the next one he can have a girlfriend or whatever. And it's so cute that he had a crush on Thalia. Poor thing Thalia was already hunter of Artemis meaning no boys for her. I love Piper too at the start I felt like annoyed by her because she reminds me of Angel from The Angel Experiment since they have the same power and she also reminds me of Tally from Uglies (the betrayer and double agent thingy). When she was claimed as Aphrodite's daughter I was like WTH is Rick Riordan's thinking O.o??? It's just from the previous books Aphrodite was projected as superficial and stupid but however I was wrong. Piper is one of the strongest female heroines you'll meet and I love her. She's beautiful but she's also strong, loyal and smart she actually reminds me of Hermione from Harry Potter Series. And I love what she said to Drew at the end that, "don't even look at Jason Grace. He may not know it yet, but he's mine. If you even try to make a move, I will load you into a catapult and shoot you across Long Island Sound." And I was like You Go And Jason OMG can I say he reminds me of Percy Jackson well he's really cute and strong too. I really like the way that he's amnesiac and all and he was confused about Piper and all that. I really love that he can fly well he kind of remind me of Ueki from Law of Ueki. I love the scene wherein he catches Piper while she's falling that was really sweet.*swoons* Wow. I felt like I have so many things to say, shout, yell whatever. Gosh it's making me crazy!!! Okay I'mma shut up now Teehee. (less) | Notes are private!

The book contains murder, misogyny, gore, violence against children, children doing brutal things and foul language. Seriously IMO this fits more to adult readers, it was just so sick and disturbing that a part of me believed that this probably should not be in the YA category (or maybe that’s just me). 16 years old and plus will do (I copy the same censorship of Elfen Lied and Higurashi no naku koro ni). Sidenote: I just found out that Battle Royale was R-18 because it contains sexual assault and that’s the difference between BR and Hunger Games (HG doesn’t contain sexual violence thus the censorship is 12+). Another note: This review is an exaggerated imitation of Patrick Ness’ writing, his writing will get a little using to and you’ll be pissed off at first but trust me “feedback loop” is real and you’ll get use to the writing eventually(hopefully). My Non-Spoiler Effing Hook Review A-reading this book is like a-watching the vids Paranormal Activity! - Joyzi Ahm ruddy don effing know where to start my effing review so I just tell yoo the story of me a-reading this book The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. So at first I picked this book up cuz lotsa my friends here in GR are a-talking about it. Lotsa them rated the hook 5 stars btw so cuz of all the hype I decided to fin’lly readit. (ruddy evil hype, shut up!) Then ya I read the book and then this effing happens, effing happens, effing happens- 0--------------------------------------------------------------------100 (Wadda eff is that line? you effing asking) That effing line btw is a representayshun of my Tho by the end of Chapter 2 my patience line goes like this- 0 Interpretayshun: Joyzi's mood: a-blazing fury ![]() [Image: pissed off cat] I have to admit that before a-reading this I tot that Pretties by Scott Westerfield was the most horribly written and a-annoying kinda writing style I ever read in my entire effing life hut boy I was so wrong! Cuz reading the first two chapters of Patrick Ness’ book is much more annoying as hell! Evaluashun twixt the two: Pretties: >The Pretty Talk- fond of a-using bubbly, bogus, a-dizzy-making, a-pretty-making, ouching, a-oxygen-missing etc etc etc… >Character pet names- a-adding la or wa at the end e.g. Tally-wa, Shay-la, Zane-la The Knife of Never Letting Go > aka The Book of Typos > Misspelled words and grammatical errors that will surely make a Grammar Nazi effing end his/her life >neologisms that just made me infuriated like Ahm a-having a PMS or a-something >Redundancy- the author was fund of repeating what he writes three times as ifs yer dumb. Redundancy- the author was fund of repeating what he writes three times as ifs yer dumb. Redundancy- the author was fund of repeating what he writes three times as ifs yer dumb. As ifs yer dumb, as ifs yer dumb, as ifs yer dumb (we geddit already! shut up shut up) >I hated Manchee at first because his dialogues were ruddy retarded and it’s a-irritating. “Need a poo, Todd” “Poo, poo Todd” and the likes- >Todd’s POV was a little bit juvenile thus the humor was juvenile at first. >Todd was fund of a-using effing and that aggravated yet again the a-blazing fury mood in me. ![]() [Image: pissed off cat] I ruddy wanna kill the author at that point and I was like a-yelling, “Seriously ifs I ever see yoo Patrick Ness in person I gonna give yoo an effing dictionary!” Tho I still keep on a-reading it hoping that it will get better but no it was so horrendously written chapters after chapters that my mind was screaming, “Sunupahur! Someone effing enroll this guy in Writing101 or Ahm going to ruddy let you be eaten by crocs!” Still I a-reading it, a-reading it, a-reading it tho half of the book I was so effing angry at it due to these reasons- > The book was an effing alien story. If yoo happen to read my review of I Am Number Four yoo probably already know that I already have my mental note to myself a-saying: MENTAL NOTE TO SELF: Don't ever read something about ALIEN again >The hook lacks >The character Viola at first didn't speak like she's kinda mute and I hate that parts too because I really don't get her character at all like what's her purpose if she isn't speaking? >This was a chase story hut Todd and also the reader have no effing clue why the main character was chase by armies from Prentiss Town. And for most parts the story draaaaaaaags and it was effing plotless, plotless, plotless-- >There's a scene wherein Todd can't effing read his Ma's book and for some reason this reminds me of this vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7AvpZ... (laugh guys, it's only a joke shut up!) And then a-reading the second half of the book I started to like it cuz of this- GORE I effing love GORE! Can't yoo tell? ![]() [Image: Joyzi a-turning round and round with showers of petals a-falling on her] Yeah gore gives me that adrenaline rush it's like my heart goes thump badda thump badda thump badda baddda baddda thump- And it's like the feeling of a-reading The Hunger Games came back to me and I effing love this hook already! *okay stop with this creepiness (shut up, shut up!)* And secondly I effing love this because of Manchee- I'm a dog person btw- And these are my pups, ifs you effing care- ![]() [Image: Joyzi's dog Hachi being coerced to have a picture taken, the pup is scared of the camera flash btw so that explains her pose (someone ruddy calls the PETA! shut up!)] ![]() [Image: Joyzi's dog Dango, haven't got a problem with this one, she effing loves it when someone takes a photo of her, she's a narcissist] And then an effing miracle happens! (Feedback loop works crechers!) Joyzi changed her mind! (Hallelujah!) Joyzi now- >Loves the writing ergo it deserve the spot on my "writing-style-i-adore" shelf- For it was original and amazingly clever! >Loves this alien story, this one seems surprising since aliens are not my cuppa tea. This was the first time I enjoyed a-reading something like it because I never really like The Host by Stephenie Meyer and I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore. It was just a breath of fresh air, all the ideas that are into this book and all the descriptions and rules of the planet I love'em all! >Loves Viola and Todd's relationship. It may not be as romancey as Peeniss tandem(that effing means PeetaxKatniss) in THG but it was just a sweet friendship I s'pose. Like they protect each other and they comfort each other and they are just there for one another and it doesn't feel contrived at all. It feels natural, how their relashunship builds and grows. >Empathize with Todd being illiterate. Oh honey I hate myself! I felt like I misjudge his character and when I know more about Todd he reminds me of Liesel Meminger from the Book Thief and Zero from the Holes. I mean I really don't know why I'm so hard on him at first hut then I realize he's just so vulnerable and I wanted to protect him and root for him. I just felt so bad I was so wrong about him and for that he's certainly one of those characters I will never ever forget. And he kinda reminds me of Peeta btw he's so like my Pita bread. Like his problem is he can't effing kill another person just like Peeta's dilemma on THG. Okay thassall I don't wanna spoil things hut I just wanna say that the twist in this book is a very disturbing event that even right now I can't stop a-thinking 'bout it. It was so sick and repulsive. I don't know how to really express my feelings about it. Just read the book and yoo'll be the judge. It will definitely keep you thinking and thinking and thinking and thinking- It will keep yer heart racing- It will blow yer mind- One of the best book ever, second to Hunger Games I s'pose!- There are just three things that I wanted right now- One. I wanted yoo to read the book. Two. I wanted to read the second book right now. And. Three. I wanted an effing movie! -Fin-!(less) | Notes are private!
