I was selected by the author due to my love of fun, pick-me-up chick-lit. The beginning of the story was really cute and the way our H/h meet was funny and a great for the relationship between Derek and Maya to get off on the wrong foot. Maya is an artist with a love for fabrics and textiles. She makes beautiful things but Derek doesn't find the charm in her work. Instead he voices his opinions about her work to the artist herself without even knowing it.
Soon after their initial meeting Derek unknowingly hires Maya to complete a new art project at his company. He comes face to face with the woman he met at the art showing previously and things between them seem to burst forward from that point.
The romance was a slow burn and very sweet. However there was more depth to Derek and Maya than first met the eye. They both had somethign from their past that they were hiding. Something that changed the way they lived their lives. I won;t go into any further because I wouldn't want to ruin this incredible story for anyone else.
If I had one complaint about this book --- it would be that it wasn't long enough. I would have loved to explore these characters even more!
4 stars for this one and I am looking forward to trying more from this author in the future! ...more

I picked this up for free for my kindle and I wasn't really sure what to expect since I haven't read much erotic romance.
I enjoyed it. There was enough humour to keep me from feeling to ridiculous but it was still a hot read.

WTF just happened? It was kind of slow to get started. I was a little lost until I finally managed to re-submerge myself in the Alexa Montgomery world. But once I found my footing all of these things just started to happen... and than it was over. Damn you H.D. Gordon. You hook me every time.
Alexa, Kayden and Diana are driving back to Two Rivers in a race to save Nelly. Except maybe there isn't anything to save this time.
This book took a dark turn... but who doesn't love that? Alexa is facing some of her hardest choices in book 3 from the series. Who does she save and who does she love?
Some pretty hot scenes and well... some pretty devastating ones too. How does this author manage to turn me so inside out every time I pick up one of her books??

I really liked the scenario of the case she was investigating as well. A little bit different from the usual evil she sees.
I really hope my copy of Chasing Magic comes in soon! ...more
I am a little bit up in the air about this one. There were parts that I loved and parts that were sort of cringe-worthy for me.
Livia takes the trainI am a little bit up in the air about this one. There were parts that I loved and parts that were sort of cringe-worthy for me.
Livia takes the train at the Poughkeepsie train station every morning and seems to have a smile for everyone including a homeless man named Blake. There is much more to Blake than meets the eye. I would say that Blake was probably one of my favourite parts of this entire book. He was such an in depth character and I really felt for him and the problems he was trying to overcome.
When Livia and Blake meet for the first time they feel an instant connection and Livia begins arriving at the train station extra early each day and leaving later at night in order to spend more time with Blake. When Livia's boyfriend finds out things start to go wrong for the couple.
There were some interesting secondary characters. Each with their own special personality. This is kind of where the story got a little off for me. I didn't love the language that some characters used and felt at times it was really inappropriate. I guess I just felt like there is a time and place for those things and the author didn't use that time or place appropriately.
There were some truly heart breaking moments. Like the death of a character I thought was one of the strong points of the story as well as a love that couldn't find its way. I wish I could know what would happen...
It was fast paced and full of lots of action including drug lords, crime bosses and psycho ex boyfriends. Oh and a big explosion some where neat the end.
I want to give a very big thanks to the author for providing this one as a free read in exchange for an honest review. Overall I really did like the book and if there ever were a continuation of this book I would definitely pick it up!...more

I received this book from the author in one of the groups I am a member of on goodreads, in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed book one so I didn't have any problem diving into this next installment.
It picks up directly where we left off. Alexa has just left Two Rivers in search of her mother. The beginning of this book moved quickly. Alexa going through a series of events that leads to a great change in her. Soon things get even better when Kayden shows up.
This book was slightly different from book one in the sense that it held mostly two points of view. Alexa's sister Nelly took a much more dominant role in this book, having nearly almost every other chapter from her point of view. Things slowed down a little because we had to go through a whole new character development. However I see why the author did this and I'm glad I get a better understanding of Nelly. I didn't really like her in book one but now I see how loyal she is to her sister and how brave she is.
The action scenes were high paced and entertaining. The romance between Alexa and Kayden developed more and that was probably my favourite part. A lot of secrets are revealed and a nice cliff hanger at the end has me geared up to read the next book!
Bravo H.D. Gordan you truly have a gift for story-telling!...more
