I like that the main character has been stripped away of everything she thought was important and has gone from arogaunt to having nothing left. This book does not FLOW - it has huge leaping jumps from one section to the next - one minute the character is walking down the street the next she is walking up in a coffin surrounded by dead bodies - she falls in love with a vampire - maybe... he obviously has a thing for her - but you dont understand why - and you never learn anything about him - there is no hero - there is no heroine - its choppily written. you never understand why she walks up surrounded by bodies in the coffin. You dont understand anything about the vampire she says she is in love with (they never have a conversation - literally never get to know each other - the vamp just sends her about 5 ramdom messages telepathically - and sends body guards to protect her - although the body guards turn on her and try to eat her... horribly disappointed - the book subject - a shrink working with real vampires had so much potential - its such a creative subject twist. And then the book ends -with a bizarre battle scene - and NOTHING is explained - i kept thinking there would be a wrap up chapter where everything random in the book now made sense. What was happening with Midnight and Bryce? Whats with the ghost in the mirror? Who cares that the FBI guys moms might be a vamp? (the story doesnt give you enough to let you care) How did this book get passed editors? How did this get published? If I could give it less than one star I would AVOID - the book is a lot of random what, the where literally jumps dimensions with no explanation - or understanding, the how is never explained or suggested, - the descriptions are "the bedspread was colorful" - everything is colorful - but nothing else - poor descriptions. Hands down the poorest written book ive ever read. Ugh....more

This review contains spoilers. Very interesting plot - you have a very evil man that sells his soul to the devil in exchange for being able to shift into an animal - and all his decendents are cursed - so here we are a thousand years later with a small family that is related to the evil man and they are fighting to break the curse against the devil. They will lose their ability to change into animals (Wolf, Panther, etc) - but save their souls - so you have four sons who each have to find a Madonna Icon so they can save their dying father before he dies and along the way they find their soulmates who are key to their finding the tiles. I liked the sick father the best - he has great lines and there are a lot of really funny moments - he is from a generation where women dont get to think - and its funny watching his interactions with his wife and daughters in law and how much they humor him and his way of thinking. I really liked the family dynamics, loyalty, determination, preservation, etc. It was a very unique story and I liked that it wasnt predictable. Some parts are a little bloody or a little too "sexy" - just graphically - but it was not out of place with the flow of the book and story line - just ...a really thick read graphically.
I liked that the men cried real tears, and had real pain and that you get inside the heads of these men and understand their motivations and reactions - and also get excited about seeing how they will respond with the next set of circumstances - because you understand their personalities so well that you see the scenes get built up and I got excited "knowing" what would happen next as far as fight scenes and anticipating reactions and seeing it all play out....more

I was disappointed with Jakes Soulmate situation I was disappointed with the graphic nature of the birth I was disappointed in Edwards reaction to the pregnancy I was disappointed in how the family group stopped being the most important thing - and the relationship between Edward and Bella was like... on pause and just stopped developing - there were no moments to me, where it appeared that they became closer or a stronger family - despite all the circumstances. There wasnt enough "I Love You"'s
Its okay -but i wish the plot line had been handled differently - I would have rathered more books and less rush. It also seemed like the authors entire rhythm of writing changed in this book - like maybe she had just too many contributors or was trying to please too many people.

So, ...not the best Katie Book - I LOVE Katie, but this book seems more political - maybe too many characters are involved with too many things going on and too many little stories at the same time. And while I felt it was a little rushed, I still feel like I dont know who this Silver Dragon is, as a person, or his motivation. Also the demon lord coming back at the end was - - well obvious - it was too easy to get rid of him, and the books must go on right? Although the Demon Lord is a great comidic side kick and a great personality - Id love to see more of him, I think this is where Katie's witting banter comes all the way around in this book - is with him -because I LOVE katies funny wittie remarks between characters.
Things Id like to understand: Why is Kostya humoring Cy? He likes her even though she is not a mate? or is it just that she is the only one that puts up with him? May talks about "our sept" etc in this book a lot - she has completely accepted her role and "her" sept. Where was the moment this happened? the moment she realized she belonged and was a part of this? I think I missed this - either in the last book or the first. Lastly- Im a little confused about the Dragon Heart pieces - and dont fear her morphing (i'll leave it at that for now) - Either this is because i just trust Katie so much to come up with a wrapped up ending in two more books, or because i dont understand and fear what the problem is - it doesnt seem to be as much of a threat to me and it seems to be to the character and it makes me wonder what i dont understand and what im missing.
As an side - Im holding my breathe and crossing my fingers waiting for Katie Con.......more
