At 16% this man is already a murderer and self-educated with a lot of oil money.
By the end of chapter 2 he seems more like a less charming more apt to shoot you than talk to you
By chapter 4 he gravitates to the first attractive girl he sees. Follows her and stalks her on the internet. Then by the end of the class he knows what he wants to do is wrong but he plans for it anyway.
He is a flipping pscyho-kidnapping-stalker with a heart of gold? Maybe. Would I try to kill him in his sleep? Yes. So, what if he is sexy, hot, big and hard in all the right places, richer than the state, and wants to please me forever, I’m not that kind of girl that would give you a pass for that shit. I am expecting an explanation like, I had to take your virginity, kidnap you and force a pregnancy on you to save all of mankind or some shit. Am I right ladies? I fear this girl is the TSTL kind of meat bag.
Yes, the heroine wants an easier life but not something out of a psychological thriller novel. Anyone see Misery, if this girl was a tad bit stronger the ending to this book would have been way different. But it’s not…
I can’t help but wonder why did the author write this under their main name and not another name to test out the waters per se. I must state that this is not erotic romance at all, maybe dark erotic fiction.
So, the rest of the book he is screwing her into submission because a book from the 1800’s told him to. (Lame, if he was so modernized like he said he was he would know that that book was full of shit and probably a TSTL novel for the simpering women of privilege.) He has it planned and figures it would take some years to win her over. (Yeah, he knows what he’s doing is going to see him in jail for many lifetimes.) Okay now fast-forward through a few sexy steamy hot chapters of nothing but dirty sexy monkey sex, to she is fighting him to not leave. Then after nine months she is talking like him and acting like him. She has all the traits of a storybook frontiers woman of the mid 1800’s. Oh, and there are a few paragraphs about the missing people he killed, and about her but no one cares.
All in all, once I got passed the whole kidnapping, molestation, forced orgasms, and forced seduction the sex scenes were hot. I think that this is a niche book for readers that understand the forced submission fantasy. I don’t think real life is meant to intrude here at all. I'm giving 2 stars because of no warning to sensitive readers, and the creepiness of the hero, and the TSTL factor for the heroine. ...more

With a serial itThis book was not the worst serial I have seen but it lacks in substance. As a reader, I need three things; plot, climax, conclusion. With a serial it seems I will barely get two out of three. They (and that includes this one) seem to be plot-lite. Not all romance is about sex and yes I understand that erotic romance doesn't necessarily have a fascinating plot but it still needs a ending. Erotic romance is for titillation and for story, not boring self doubt, indecision, and inner monologue.
And I'd the author feels she had to tell readers this is not erotica in the description then i would suggest changing her cover. The cover suggests that this book is sexy, has sex and will be about sexy. If not don't put a half naked man in the cover. Try a clothed couple. I don't understand why you did. As a blogger, I know most readers judge a book by its cover. Sneaky marketing?
This seems be a trend in books these days. More tell the reader, not show the reader. To me this type of book is frustrating and debilitates my reading list.
This was a reply to a reader after she had said I shouldn't have read it since it wasn't erotica. We read more than just erotica.
"I was just making a distinction that I know the difference. Since in the description the author goes out of their way to tell us it's not erotica but a love story.
***To help with that distinction she might want to change get cover. Most romance that focus on love have a less provocative cover.
Since you seem to be a nice person, I will keep this about the book. I didn't like it. The hero was not likable but a whiny jerk that felt guilty when he decided he wanted his cookie. The heroine should be stronger and tougher I'm my honest opinion. She also should be a lot more jaded than she is.
As for me ranting about self publishing authors, I stuck by what I said. Customers, readers, and anyone that buys books on her and other sites as well, have one thing in common. They are all looking for quality in their reading material. Serial are not books and you shouldn't be marketed as such." ...more

I’ve been saying for quite some time that I’m tired of trilogies. It hurts me to have to wait months on end to see what happens next. I’m impatient. The anticipation kills me and usually when I read I want instant gratification, a couple hours of escape and an ending HEA or not—I need some sort of closure.
I “liked” Sins & Needles, but I didn’t love it. I wasn’t going to even read Shooting Scars because I thought “Ugh, do I really want to bother with ANOTHER trilogy?” I stuck with it though. I’m such a huge fan of Karina’s work that I pressed on and finished Shooting Scars. (Loved it! Gave it a 5-Star review!) And so this brings us to today. Having downloaded and read Bold Tricks in one sitting. Couldn’t wait to get it. Dying to know how it was all going to play out and end. I’m almost in tears because it’s over. I absolutely fell in love with this series and can’t believe I almost didn’t continue with it. What an idiot I am sometimes.
Plot: 5. Bold Tricks picks up right where Shooting Scars left us. Ellie, Camden and Javier together in the jeep having just escaped Travis’ compound. Awkward doesn’t even begin to describe the feeling inside that jeep. As awkward as it is, they know that they have to work together to achieve their goals and survive. Zooming through the crowded streets of Mexico, running from drug cartels, Ellie and her boys didn’t seem to stop and are in constant danger, while trying to save Gus and Ellie’s mother (I don’t know why really. Evil witch that she is!) and kill Travis. Besides the action, this story is packed full of emotion. (Nothing like a heart-wrenching love triangle to keep me interested!) Ellie’s situation is so tragic. Sure, she has to accept the responsibility for her actions, but it’s not like the poor girl was really given a fair shake from the beginning. It’s easy to sit back and judge, but do you REALLY know what you’d do if you were in situations similar to hers? I suspect not. Survival is a primal instinct and you do what you have to do to survive. And that’s exactly what Ellie did. She didn’t mean to fall in love with two men. She didn’t mean to break their hearts. It was an unintended consequence—one that has scarred her as much as the acid did her leg. What will poor Ellie do? She will do whatever it takes to survive not only her current situation, but to be able to finally live happily ever after.
Sex: 5. I’m giving it a five because while there isn’t a ton of sex in the book, it’s the good kind. The scenes were wrought full of passion, tension and emotion. I never once felt that they were just gratuitous sex scene. No, these were the types of scenes that have purpose, are so meaningful that they make me cry and make me love romance novels. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
Overall: 5. The word AMAZING really isn’t an accurate enough description for this book. I can think of about 100 more, sublime, excellent, outstanding, heart-breaking, frustrating, consuming and so on and so on. This book really has everything and after all the questions have been answered, all the pieces to the puzzle have been set into place, the book ends with perfection.
It’s probably a bit silly or cliche, but after having read Bold Tricks, I feel complete. I cannot thank Karina Halle for sharing one of the best series I’ve ever read. **sniff, sniff. I’m so sad it’s over.**

Especi**spoiler alert** I have to say, this one was almost a DNF (did not finish,)I was getting a little tired of Jamie's protesting he is not ready. Especially, when we all know he so wanted Luis and his cousin, Rudiger. We also know that Jamie had a recent break up and that can leave anyone pretty depressed, but it doesn't kill your sexual instincts. If anything I would think a major break up would make you go out there and make you self feel sexy and desirable. And with some help from Luis and Rudiger, Jamie got his groove back. And he did it with a bang or three. He even got an extra helping from a dark stranger. I am not sure what the significance of the unknown stranger was at the end. I will have to go back and look carefully at the types of stories Jamie was reading or writing and possibly find a connection. Either way Gavin Atlas did a very sexy job on this short story. I wonder will we hear anymore from Jamie....more
Landry James, a bored housewife, seems like a strong woman who knows hat she wants. One Naughty Girl by Alexx Andria
Overall Enjoyment: 3
Landry James, a bored housewife, seems like a strong woman who knows hat she wants. Yes, she may be cockcolding her husband but she loves him. Plus this seems like a way to keep her from going crazy and killing said boring Joe.
This was a very short read, only about 6000 words. It was free on Amazon. So I thought, "What the hell, it's a free book." So I got it, read it, and like it. Not loved it but liked it. The regular price of this book is a little steep for a short story.
The dialog is rather corny and stiff and seems to be a tad racist at times. I think the author may want to think about whom their readers are and try to be more realistic with the language they choose to use. I had to re-read that part about the "black buck", I almost did a DNF. I kept going and finished it and read it again. I try not to make my personal beliefs part of my reading these days. I have found my perceptions of some things are not true but slightly discriminating also. What's the old saying, "You can't judge a book by its cover?"
I hope this author takes in to account the reviews he/she is getting and will strive to make the writing more appropriate and entertaining. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and will only recommend this book with caution and only if its still free. ...more
