What was frustrated and what prevented me from truly enjoying this book was the author's writing style. She used flashbacks as a way of showing what's happened instead of just of just telling us in that moment. Flashbacks from earlier that day or the previous day is 100% unnecessary!!!! It completely took me out of the story. For example a scene where Noelle is opening her front door. Her friend Theo is with her. Jack opens the door and goes off on Theo. Scene moves on to something else. And then Noelle flashbacks to what happened with Jack and Theo. WTF!!!! The author does this in all of her books. It's frustrating as hell. I keep reading them because the characters and plots are good. The flashbacks are pure nonsense. ...more

First of all the ebook ends at 41%. I was not expecting that. There's a second book after that but I wasn't looking to read another book. Second, there's no fake marriage like the title suggests. There's a fake marriage for like 5 minutes and then they move on from that. I thought that Aaron and Nala would have to play the role of a married couple for the majority of the book. Nope. That was not the case. Not alot of time was spent providing information on Dr. Aaron. All we know is that he's a widower with a daughter named Maisy. And he's a genius and a billionaire. NO idea how old he is. His height. I think he has dark hair and there's a mention of tattoos on his arms. Let's talk about daughter Maisy. She's 6 years old and in the 3rd grade. Ummmm...how does that work. Most 6 year olds are in Kindergarten. Some may be in 1st grade. Definitely NOT 3rd grade. And I hate precocious children in romance novels. It's not cute. I don't like children in grown folks business and who are having grown ass conversations.
This was an okay read. I wasn't blown away by the romance. It seemed like Aaron and Nala hooked up due to proximity and convenience, not any great love and romance....more

It wasn't a simple romance where man meets woman. They date. Have issues. Break up. Reconcile. Say ILU and live happily ever after. There's a murder mystery, alcoholism, rape, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect...it was a bit too much. The romance kind of was a back story from about the 60% mark til the end. The title doesn't even make any sense based on what I just read. I still don't understand why the name of this series is Angels and Assassins when the MCs are doctors and baristas. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this. Too much was happening in this book and it took a lot of the focus away from the romance....more

I normally avoid anthologies but I decided to give this one a try. For the most part I really enjoyed it. The stories were captivating and sexy. Can't go wrong with a bad boy hero and the women who want them. As the anthology progressed I noticed that the editing got a little sloppy. Or there was a lack of editing altogether. One novella I had to dnf because it was so badly edited. A few I skimmed because the plot was not interesting. 9 out of the 14 were good. Not too shabby for an anthology. ...more
Ughhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! The heroine is a judgy sexually repressed bitch. She should have stayed with her borDNF @ 80% cause I couldn't read any further!!!
Ughhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! The heroine is a judgy sexually repressed bitch. She should have stayed with her boring ass fiance Craig. She looks at Trey with disgust when she finds out he has 3somes. She starts crying like she owns him. She wishes she knew about this before she fell him love with him? Mind you they've known each other for 3 yrs in a purely professional basis. Also when she first started working for him she had to pick him up from the Ritz Carlton because Trey was meeting up with a guy and a girl for a 3some and ended up getting robbed. Mind up everyone knows that Trey Marks is a manwhore. But you're pissed he didn't tell you that he has threesomes. Okay girl. (insert side-eye) They've become friends with mild flirtation while working together. She was engaged when she started working for Trey. Trey made it clear that though he's attracted to her, he didn't want to mess up their business relationship by sleeping with her. Bitch go somewhere with the foolishness. Grow the fuck up. Kate deserves to be alone. Bye! And where the fuck is the sex?!?!?! The story isn't sexy like the book cover suggests. So disappointing. So boring. So over it. This was the first book I read by the author. Won't be reading another one if this is any indication of how her other books are....more
