**spoiler alert** This book has cheating so if that's a hard NO in your romance then this book is not for you. I enjoyed this book. I personally know**spoiler alert** This book has cheating so if that's a hard NO in your romance then this book is not for you. I enjoyed this book. I personally know a married couple who are swingers so I was curious to see how the lifestyle was going to be portrayed. First of all, don't turn to swinging as a means to save your marriage. Just like having a baby doesn't save a marriage. The premise of using swinging as a marriage saver was a little weak but I decided to go with it. Most couples who swing have been in the lifestyle. It's a part of their sexual lives. It's not something that's done on a whim. But whatever. Also swinging isn't cheating if both partners are on the same page. But unfortunately in this book, swinging turned into cheating real fast. I'm not surprised when you're dealing with amateurs.
West and Tilly have a sexually active marriage. Tilly is bisexual and sometimes they invite a woman into their bed. Tilly has sex with the woman and usually West gets a blow job from the woman. He never has sex with her. Piper and Cannon married sex life is in a rut. Her entire marriage is shaky. So why not swing with complete strangers to figure out why you and your husband are no longer connecting? ::eyeroll::
So to make it okay for Piper and West to end up together in the end, I knew the author was going to make Cannon the bad guy. And I was right. I always suspected that something was up with Cannon. It made it really convenient to justify Piper's behavior. I didn't like that. West and Piper broke the rules and emotionally started cheating behind their spouses back. We later find out that Cannon had been cheating on Piper long before the swinging. Why did he have to be the bad guy so that Piper and West could be absolved of their behavior? And why did West have to be so perfect while Tilly (his wife) and Cannon (Piper's husband) were complete assholes??
So it is revealed that Cannon is bisexual. He's been having an affair with a man. Piper is disgusted about the cheating, not that he's bi. Or so she says. And then when Piper leaves Cannon, Cannon all of a sudden turns into a huge asshole. Where did this come from? Here comes West to the rescue. The author tried to be all, it's okay if someone is bisexual. Cannon is happy because he's finally living in his truth. BUT...the 2 bisexual characters in this book are the evil assholes and the 2 heteros are the good ones who felt guilty about cheating but they couldn't deny their feelings. WHATEVER.
BTW - Tilly's revenge plot should have been left out. So stupid. So juvenile. So weak. So unnecessary.
Plot kept me engaged. Sex scenes were hot. Felt that the portrayal of LGBT community was weak and whack and a huge disservice. Should have just kept this as a simple story where swinging turned into cheating and left it at that. But overall I liked the book enough to keep reading til the end....more
