Her job is to look out for enemy aircraft so she can alert the neighborhood of danger and help people find safety during air raids. During the night, London enforces blackouts to make it more difficult for enemy bombers to find their targets. Molly meets Guy, a visiting American, as he is lost among the darkened city streets and lights a match to see his way. Guy is intrigued by Molly and finds every excuse to spend more time with her, even accompanying her on her lookout for the night. During their night atop a roof they learn a lot about each other and by the next morning they promise to meet again in four days. Meanwhile, Guy heads to Leicester in search of his uncle, whom his mother wants to return with him to America. When Guy returns to London four days later, he finds…. Well, I won't tell you what he finds. I don't like spoilers!
What I can tell you is that this is a charming and sweet romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a story about love at first sight. The characters were well-rounded and likeable. The dialogue between the couple was flirty, engaging and witty. There are historical details woven throughout giving the reader an interesting glimpse of life in London during the Blitz. Not2Nite was filled with a range of emotions that kept me turning the pages with eager anticipation of the happily-ever-after these two characters deserved. Also, I enjoyed reading about Molly's cousin. I loved her spunkiness. I'd like to see her in a story of her own one day. ...more

Simply adore it! I fell completely in love with the Bridgerton family (Romancing Mister Bridgerton was my first introduction to Ms. Quinn and therefore will mostly likely always hold a special place in my heart!), so much so that I was conflicted with a mix of happy/sad feelings when that series ended. Now, however, I'm so pleased to see the Smythe-Smith's have a few stories to tell in this series that is closely linked with the Bridgerton's and takes place during the same timeline.
Marcus's and Honoria's story is filled with the same powerful emotions, snappy wit and dialogue, and laugh-out-loud fun that Ms. Quinn's writing has become famous for. This was a joy to read! Her characters are so well-written, they nestle close to your heart until what makes them happy, makes you happy...what gives them pain, gives you pain. I cried with this one, so I recommend tissues to those sensitive readers. It's a wonderful, powerfully emotional romance that leaves you smiling!

The way she describes the sights, smells and sounds taking place in this story makes me feel as if I'm standing directly next to the characters, sensing all that surrounds them. And her books are always fun to read. She's known for her humor. I know I'll giggle from the snarky dialogue between the hero and heroine, or the lovable secondary characters. Her books are always well-written and this one is no exception. Since I was introduced to Princess Drifa of Stoneheim in her sister's stories, I was looking forward to reading about this half-Viking, half-Arab princess. With her love of flowers and gardening, there were plenty of jokes and thinly veiled comments between the Viking men.
Sidroc Guntersson is a Viking with a deadline. He must find someone to marry, to take care of his newborn daughter. He woes Drifa, seducing her into marriage, until she discovers he did so without telling her the truth as to why he wished to marry her. She hits him over the head, accidentally knocking him into a 'death sleep' which prevents him from rescuing his daughter. When he wakes finding Drifa gone, he thinks she's gone on a pleasure trip and his daughter has met a foul end by the hands of this ruthless father. But during his long sleep, Drifa learns of the peril his daughter faces, so she and her sisters go on a rescue mission to secure the infant. When they return, Sidroc is gone and although Drifa searches, she cannot find him.
Five years later, Drifa and her Viking guardians travel to Byzantium only to find that Sidroc is indeed alive and well. Although, Drifa desperately wants to tell him about his daughter, it's been five years and she has grown to love the child after raising her as a daughter of her heart. Drifa fears Sidroc will take the girl away. Meanwhile, Drifa has never been far from Sidroc's mind during all these years. But, his anger with her grows into something else, and his plan for revenge turns into a seduction of his own heart.
I read this book quickly, not able to put it down until I reached the end. And, I really enjoyed the ending, turning a little misty eyed while I read the conclusion. Very nice. ...more

It was fast-paced, the characters were interesting and well developed, and the plot was fascinating. This was also my introduction to steampunk. I don't think I've ever read anything in this genre. And I'm hooked! I can't wait to read another one. I would have loved to see this story as a full-length novel! It was interesting and suspenseful and I really enjoyed the use of first-person POV (point-of-view). I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a quick, fun romance that keeps you turning the pages until the end. I can't wait to read more from this author!...more

I really liked this book, but there were a few things that held me back from giving it a higher rating. Now, of course, this is my opinion and others may feel differently.
One of the things that bothered me was the info dump at the beginning. Lexie reflects what has happened in the past year of her life to get readers up to speed on the storyline. It felt a little slow and forced there, but then went warp speed when Lexie and Torin kiss within moments of meeting each other. Their relationship was beautiful (I love the fated destiny) but at that moment, she doesn’t know about his world or anything at all about him, and it seemed a little unbelievable for her to act in such a way.
Other than that, the story line was excellent. The plot was interesting and compelling. And I enjoyed meeting the characters and learning about their families, life and friends. Torin’s anguish over the future and Lexie’s worry over her mother and sister really pulled at my heart. And the mystery surrounding Lexie’s new step-family kept me turning the pages. I really wanted to know how Lexie would deal with them, their secrets, and their extremely odd behaviors.
Despite the very few drawbacks, this novel was entertaining. It is filled with mystery, horror and romance, as well as some great action scenes, an intoxicating blend for this paranormal romance reader. The synopsis pulled me in with its mysterious description of the story and the cover art is beautiful. I would like to read more of this author’s work, especially the future books of this series. ...more
