Dawn wakes up in a tank filled with blue liquid, not remembering her name or her past or how she ended up in a laboratory with a handsome man who insists she needs to follow him quickly before the scientists return to find them. That scene begins an adventurous and romantic tale about a woman who has been resurrected from a 3000 year-old mummy.
When I read the description about this book, I knew instantly that I wanted to read it. A romance involving a mummy? That seemed right up my alley. I love a good paranormal romance with a unique twist and this book did not disappoint. The fast-paced action was intense as Dawn and Jake raced to escape the scientists and their military-like security. One turn after another, they were barely out of danger before another danger arose, leaving a breathless reader who couldn't stop turning the pages. I read this book in less than 3 days, which for my busy schedule is fairly quick these days. But, I really couldn't put this book down. The chapters are short and end with cliffhangers which kept convincing me that I could read just one more page, just one more chapter before I had to put it down.
Passion Never Dies is an exciting tale that won't disappoint readers looking for a unique and action-oriented romance. It was interesting to discover more about Dawn and how she came to be revived. I liked the explanations for her understanding of modern day devices, too. I enjoyed learning about her past and her experiences in ancient Egypt.
There are a few things that might stretch the limits of believability in this story, such as the number of times someone died and was brought back to life or the chance encounters with characters who recall their inter-connected past-life memories, but considering the plot is about a 3000 year-old mummy being brought back to life via a combination of science, technology and magic, I'm willing to overlook it. Besides, this story was just too much fun to read! In my opinion, this reminds me of a combination of a day-time soap opera and the sci-fi TV series, Stargate, SG1. And I mean that in the best possible comparisons.
I didn't realize, however, until I began reading that this book was originally a type of serial, which explains many of the repeated explanations to get readers caught up with the story in each section. I'm feel fortunate that I read this completed addition, so I did not have to wait for each installment. Not having the entire collection at once would've annoyed me. I'm the type of reader who will wait until an author completes a trilogy before reading all the books back to back. Of course, that's just me, but I know there are other readers out there who feel the same. If that's the case, then this book is for you!...more

Claire doesn't want to spend the holidays alone, so her best friend pushes her to ask the sexy mall Santa out for dinner. Andreas is doing the best to get by on this planet without being discovered as an alien, made difficult by his natural green skin, but he can't deny his attraction to the woman who asks him out for dinner. Their need for companionship pulls them together as neither wants to be alone anymore. Andy entrusts his secret to Claire and hopes he hasn't made a mistake.
Although this was an extremely quick read, the characters were well-written, rounded and likeable. Claire's swift acceptance of Andy's origins might've seemed contrived in any other story, but Ms. Subject made the event believable and convincing. Both characters were uncertain and afraid, but willing to risk it all for a chance to be together. This was a delightful story to read and perfect for a single sitting.
I also enjoyed the bonus story at the end, Alien Kisses at Midnight. It is a quick glimpse into the beginning of a beautiful relationship between a woman and an alien banished to Earth for doing the right thing. Dena and Haul captured my attention from the very moment she ran into him with her car. A very entertaining story!...more

The cover was eye-catching, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to read a YA novel at the time. However, the whole zombie storyline intrigued me, so I decided to give it a try. The beginning of Alice Bell's story really connected with me. Her family died, the people whom she loved most were lost to her and she had to come to grips with that reality. I felt her pain and her desolation. It was intriguing that her father could see monsters that no one else could see. After the tragic accident that killed her parents, Alice was able to see these same monsters, too.
I liked the story so far. It was a great premise. The beginning chapter really drew me into the story and I wanted to know more. Alice moved in with her grandparents and had to adjust to life without her family while attending a new school. When she meets Cole Holland, she experiences visions of their future together. This explains their instant attraction to each other. Alice, who now goes by the nickname Ali, gets to know the kids in school as well as the teachers and staff.
Ali begins to see zombies outside of her grandparent's house. Other things go on which lead her to believe that she might not be the only one who can see these monsters. Slowly, as the plot unfolds, she learns that Cole and his group of boys can not only see the zombies, but they fight them as well. Not only that, but they have a rival faction who wants to experiment with these zombies. All the while, Ali must figure out what her feelings for Cole mean and if they can have a relationship together while battling zombies.
I enjoyed reading about Alice and her struggle with dealing with the death of her family and battling the zombies. I liked that the zombies weren't re-animated corpses, but were the spirits of the people who had been infected with evil. It was a unique idea and that's why only very few people could see the zombie spirits. Only those people who had the ability to see into the spirit world. However, the thing that bothered me was that this particular school had so many members who could not only see the zombies as well as Alice, but were willing to put their life on the line to fight them. It seemed a bit of a stretch for believability.
This was the first book in the White Rabbit Chronicles. I'd also like to add that the story was written in first person point of view which I love to read. I'm interested to see what else is in store for Alice and her new friends, as well as her relationship with Cole....more

I was swept into the world of humans, demons and angels right from the start. Sonya is a Seraph seeking help from half-demon Jagger. Their world is gritty, harsh and painful, but there is beauty and hope, too. Because this was a short story, I don't want to give too much away about the plot. The characters were believable and well-written. I liked how the chapters were brief and split between Angels and Demons. This made it easy for me to slip back into this world when I had to step away from the book for a quick moment (I have kids who demand this attention all of the time!). As with her other books, I enjoy reading this author's writing style. Ms. Krafton has a way with words that leaves this reader breathless. Elegant and poetic with gothic undertones. A quick, enjoyable read for someone wanting to dip their toes into an imaginative world....more

It was fast-paced, the characters were interesting and well developed, and the plot was fascinating. This was also my introduction to steampunk. I don't think I've ever read anything in this genre. And I'm hooked! I can't wait to read another one. I would have loved to see this story as a full-length novel! It was interesting and suspenseful and I really enjoyed the use of first-person POV (point-of-view). I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a quick, fun romance that keeps you turning the pages until the end. I can't wait to read more from this author!...more

I really liked this book, but there were a few things that held me back from giving it a higher rating. Now, of course, this is my opinion and others may feel differently.
One of the things that bothered me was the info dump at the beginning. Lexie reflects what has happened in the past year of her life to get readers up to speed on the storyline. It felt a little slow and forced there, but then went warp speed when Lexie and Torin kiss within moments of meeting each other. Their relationship was beautiful (I love the fated destiny) but at that moment, she doesn’t know about his world or anything at all about him, and it seemed a little unbelievable for her to act in such a way.
Other than that, the story line was excellent. The plot was interesting and compelling. And I enjoyed meeting the characters and learning about their families, life and friends. Torin’s anguish over the future and Lexie’s worry over her mother and sister really pulled at my heart. And the mystery surrounding Lexie’s new step-family kept me turning the pages. I really wanted to know how Lexie would deal with them, their secrets, and their extremely odd behaviors.
Despite the very few drawbacks, this novel was entertaining. It is filled with mystery, horror and romance, as well as some great action scenes, an intoxicating blend for this paranormal romance reader. The synopsis pulled me in with its mysterious description of the story and the cover art is beautiful. I would like to read more of this author’s work, especially the future books of this series. ...more
