It seemed a little scattered to me, but it may just be that I'm not used to this narrative style.(less)

I was completely swept up in the gorgeous settings and, of course, the heat between the main characters. I've come to expect Katharine to create two characters who are so completely meant for each other that they couldn't possibly ever be with anyone else, and she delivers that here, expertly. Aside from the wonderful chemistry between them and a plot that twists tighter and tighter as it nears its conclusion, this book also has one of the best endings I've read in quite some time-- it made me want to cheer, laugh, and cry, all at once. Recommended whole-heartedly.(less)

I think this is essential reading for anyone who really wants to understand how to interact in a way that's genuine and also useful. It's not a fix-it book or a tactics book. It's more of a life-view book, so be prepared for that. I think it dovetails nicely with Getting Things Done. This one picks up the big-picture stuff that the GTD system leaves out.(less)

And while I'm still pretty sure that no one in my life has the full blown Narcissistic Personality Disorder, I could pick out quite a few people (including myself) on the spectrum.
What I appreciate most about this book is that it doesn't just say, "Narcissists are bad, they will never change, get out or you're doomed." It gives practical tips for dealing with those in your life who have narcissistic tendencies, and, perhaps more importantly, explains the psychology behind why you keep hanging out with those types of people. I found it really helpful and practical, plus just a really interesting read.(less)

I had a little trouble relating to a lot of what was in this book because the examples were so extreme: childhood abuse and rape, physical spousal abuse, and the like. I would have liked to get a little more practical advice for my situation, but I think this book would be really helpful for someone who had experienced some of those scenarios, to get them going down the right path.
I'm interested in checking out Anne Katherine's other book, Where to Draw the Line: How to Set Healthy Boundaries Every Day, because I feel like that might give me some better real-world applications for the idea of boundaries.(less)
