Judd turneJudd and Brenna's story - I wasn't sure how I could enjoy a story about a man as cold as Judd but Nalini Singh certainly wrote a great one! Judd turned out to be a very honorable man who wanted to feel but could not because he is unpredictable due to his psychic talents. Brenna is still scarred emotionally from her attack and needs Judd as her mate. Judd has to figure out a way to deprogram his training so he can be the mate that Brenna needs. Plus he has some cool telekinetic abilities that come in handy. Great addition to the Psy/Changling series!...more

I love the Psy/Changling series, I think the world and characters are wonderful. My favorite books so far have been ones that include Changlings because I love their wild hearts and sensual, playful natures. So it should be no surprise that I thorougly enjoyed reading Play of Passion which features two wolf Changlings. This was such a wonderful love story and romance!
Indigo is the most dominant female in her Snow Dancer wolf pack. She fears she will never find a male dominant enough for her that her wolf will accept. Andrew, aka Drew, has loved Indigo from afar for years but has finally decided it's time to try to win Indigo's heart. He sets out with all of the skill and charm he has at his disposal to convince Indigo that he is the man for her. Indy (as Drew alone calls her) resists Drew because she is afraid he is not dominant enough, which she fears will make them both miserable after seeing her strong Aunt suffer from that fate.
Drew goes after Indigo with a lot of will and charm, which even Indigo has trouble resisting. She learns that under Drew's happy exterior lays a strong dominant male who is the pack's tracker for rogue wolves. She struggles with allowing herself to open up enough to let Drew close, but the super charming sexy male wolf works his way into her heart with his teasing ways, his super hot loving and his unflinching support and love of her strength.
What a wonderful romance! Almost all of this story focuses on Drew and Indigo as they make their way through the mating dance. I loved reading about the oh-so-charming and sexy wolf Drew as he captures the heart of his mate! They both make some mistakes as they learn how to be together but they work their way through them because of the wonderful connection they share. Drew sure knows how to make a woman forgive any mistakes - lots of flowers, Teddy bears, chocolate and dinner! He was such a wonderful hero, he was comfortable in his own strength and place in the pack enough to love and encourage Indigo as the strong dominant wolf that she is. He doesn't try to boss her around but he does like to push her boundaries and take control during their hot love scenes. I love how Nalini Singh can write a strong dominant woman who still comes off as feminine and not a b*tch like so many authors do. I liked Indigo because she was comfortable with who she was and she was so caring toward her pack and family. Drew confused the hell out of her because she had thought he was too young and less dominant, only to find that he was more than a match for her. Plus who could resist the sexy Drew when he went full out to charm her into falling for him?
This book was another wonderful addition to one of my all time favorite series. I loved every second of reading this great love story and enjoying such an amazing hero.
For those waiting on Hawke and Sienna's story, we are treated to a few scenes of them together. I can't wait for Kiss of Snow!
I can't recommend this series enough if you love great writing, amazing romance-focused love stories and hot sexy heroes!

She is a dominant alpha female in her pack which makes her fear that she will never find a mate because she would need someone more dominant than her and she doesn’t think she would be able to submit to a mate the way she would need to. Riley is a stubborn, protective, by-the-rules man who is helplessly drawn to Mercy’s fiery personality. He grew up taking care of his younger siblings and is now the highest ranking lieutenant in the Snow Dancer pack, so he can’t imagine having a mate like Mercy who insists on taking care of herself.
Mercy and Riley are thrown together often as their respective pack’s representative in the alliance between the cats and wolves – especially now as attacks on humans, changelings and Psy are beginning to escalate. The sexual attraction between Mercy and Riley leads them to start a forbidden affair because they just can’t keep their hands off each other. Mercy knows Riley is a dominant wolf who will try to take over her life, which she thinks will kill a part of herself. Riley feels like he needs to protect those he loves, especially after what he sees as a failure to protect his little sister Brenna from being attacked. Mercy and Riley start to care a lot about each other but both are afraid of the consequences of staying together. They both dedicate their lives to protecting their packs – plus cats and wolves just barely get along. Can they both survive a mating – and do they have any choice but to try since their feelings are so intense?
I loved this story! Mercy and Riley were such a great pair, they really complemented each other in every way. The love scenes were scorching hot! Riley certainly knows how to please a woman. Both Riley and Mercy had to come to terms with each other – Riley had to accept that he could be dominant with Mercy while they were making love but he needed to see her as a partner at all other times and not try to shield her, while Mercy had to accept and trust Riley enough to allow him completely into her heart as a mate.
The storyline of the series progresses as we learn more about the battle for and against Silence in the Psy web and more clues about the Ghost’s identity. Sienna and Hawke have small parts in the story, I can’t wait until we see what happens between them. Lucas and Sascha receive wonderful news that I have been waiting for! I also found out the answer to the two questions I have been wondering about since I heard of the pairing between Riley and Mercy: What type of children will a wolf and cat have together and how can two dominant sentinels from different packs actually make a mating work – but you will have to read Branded by Fire to find out for yourself!
The Psy/Changling series is one of my favorite romance series, every single book has been amazing. Nalini Singh is a very talented author who writes wonderful romances with a great background story. I highly recommend this series to any romance reader!...more

He was badly abJake Bannaconni is a leopard shapeshifter who lives to acquire enough money and power to take down his evil parents and their friends. He was badly abused as a child but survived by dreaming of the day he destroys their lives. At the age of 33, he has acquired a lot of money and power but feels like he is still missing something. He is going to be a father soon after being tricked by his enemy's daughter. She is in a car accident that claims her life but the medics are able to save his son. The two-car accident also claims the life of another man - Emma Reynold's husband. When Jake sees Emma, he feels a connection to someone for the first time in his life. Emma is all alone in this world after losing her husband. She is newly pregnant but the doctor wants her on bed rest to save the child after she is injured in the car accident. Jake is obsessed with Emma from the first time he sees her and does everything he can to get her in his life. He offers her a place to stay so she can rest and teach him how to care for his son. She has no where to go so she accepts his offer as long as he allows her to work once she is better.
Once they are on his Texas ranch, Jake does everything he can to insinuate himself into Emma's heart. She is the most honest person he has ever met, which is amazing to him because he always expects betrayal and deceit. He is very careful not to let her see his attraction to her so that she can feel safe but all along he plans to seduce her eventually because he wants her to love him. Over the course of two years, Emma has a baby girl, becomes a mother to Jake's son and takes over as the housekeeper of the house. She makes a home for Jake and tries to open up his heart. Jake does not believe in love and has cut himself off from all emotion after his horrible childhood. Emma tries to show him how to love his son and her daughter, who he claims as his own.
After two years of grieving her husband and being a mother, Emma begins to wake up sexually toward Jake. She has fallen in love with him because he treated her well and protected her for two years. He sees himself as a very hard man because he is ruthless in business and with his enemies but she sees him as man who always looks out for those who need help. He gives jobs to people who have handicaps or are down on their luck and always tries to help and protect them. Jake has always been very attracted to Emma but did not try to seduce her while she was still grieving. Once he finds out she is attracted to him as well, all bets are off and the intense sexual tension explodes into passion.
This is one very exciting and hot book. Jake is a VERY dominant man who always wants to have his own way. Emma is the perfect match for him because she will stand up to him on the important stuff but she is also willing to let the small things go. She is a very sweet and loving person who is willing to fight against Jake's inner demons because she believes he is a better person inside. Jake is very dominant in bed as well, he is rough and aggressive but Emma teaches him to slow down and be gentle sometimes. Jake was frustrating at times because he tried to back away every time he started feeling too much for Emma. He was so afraid to open up his heart and be vulnerable that he tried to put emotional distance between them whenever she got too close to him. Jake was over bearing at times but he was also kind and protective. Emma knew going into the relationship how Jake was (controlling, over protective, domineering), so she walked into the relationship with her eyes open knowing she would have to teach Jake that it was okay to love. She knew that he loved his son and daughter, even if he couldn't admit it to himself. She was very strong emotionally and was able to go toe to toe with Jake whenever he tried to take over too much of her life. There was also a bit of a surprise twist toward the end that helps put Emma on more equal footing with Jake, which I like because I felt it helped balance out the power in the relationship.
If you enjoy a dominant hero and a very engaging story, check out this book. The writing was very good, the story sucks you in from page one and takes you on a great ride. There were relatively few "Feehanisms" (though she does manage to sneak in molten lava and black velvet voice) and I did not feel like the love scenes were the same thing over and over (which has been a complaint with this author). The hero is rough at points (especially during the sex scenes) but he had a hard life and tries very hard to change into a better person for Emma. She teaches him to love her and the children, while he gives her the family and home she always wanted....more

Mercy shows yet again her loyalty and love for her friends. She is willing to put herself out there for those she loves but this time it costs her greatly. The end of this book was very powerful and hard to read, but sometimes the low points in life are what make you strongest. Mercy is a strong woman who can and will overcome what happened. She finally chooses between Adam and Samuel in this book, the choice was obvious to me but the book explains why it was a hard choice for Mercy. She loves both of them and she is afraid what it will do to Samuel if she doesn't choose him. I read the first chapter of the fourth book in the series at the end of "Cry Wolf", so I know we are in for more excitment in the next book. I can't wait to finally have some payoff in Mercy and Adam's relationship. Great book, I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal fantasy/romance with werewolves and a strong, likable heroine!...more

Dragon Bound was the best new paranormal that I have read in a long time, I am so glad to finally be excited about a new paranormal series.
Pia Giovanni is forced to do something that is basically suicidal - steal something from the most powerful dragon shifter in the world. She knows Dragos will react swiftly, most likely with a torturous death for her but she has no choice because of a spell and blackmail from a sleazy ex-boyfriend. Dragos is an ancient Wyr dragon shifter who rules his kingdom with an iron fist. He is not happy that someone managed to steal from his treasure and hunts the thief with a savage intensity. However, he is intrigued with the wonderful scent on the note the female thief left behind.
When Dragos catches up with Pia, their chemistry lights up the pages. He is fascinated by this half-breed human/Wyr who dares to stand up to him. They are both intensely attracted to each other, despite the fact Pia is afraid he is about to kill her. Dragos decides right away that she belongs to him. Despite Pia's protests that he can't just own a person, she is in for a losing battle against a powerful alpha like Dragos. So she does what she can - she stands up to him and fights his hold over her (while occasionally giving into the intense passion between them!).
This book was such a fun, exciting romance. I loved Dragos, he was so alpha and possessive but he also tried to accommodate Pia and make her happy (in his life of course). Pia was a great heroine, she was strong and didn't just let Dragos run over her. She had a lot of secrets but she had good cause to keep her silence. Pia and Dragos were a great match and holy crap were they hot together! Yowza. I loved the story, it was exciting and well-written.
If you are looking for a great paranormal romance, make sure to check this one out! It was a great story that I will be rereading in the future because I had a fun time reading about these characters. Highly recommended!...more

I really enjoyed this book. The hero was very interesting and quite harsh for the first part of the book. There was a lot that didn't make sense about their relationship especially after they meet again after two years, but the story was still very interesting and action filled. I would have liked to see more of their relationship after meeting again, instead they just decide they are in love despite all that Warlord did to Karen the first time (kidnaps her, practically forces her to make love).
So this is a really good book as long as you don't look too closely at the relationship and just enjoy the story....more
