I'm a huge fan of Gena's adult novels, so it was easy to loose myself in her writing, since I'm so familiar with it. It was reassuring to know that I would be entertained. And was I ever.
There is a lot happening in this book, it extends way beyond Aden. Some people might see that as a bad thing, but I really enjoyed it, reveled in it really. I had no idea what was going to happen next. I did figure out a few things, well I thought I figured out a few things, doubted myself, but then found out my initial assumptions were correct!
Characterization was great, even the human souls in Aden's head were well developed! Mary Ann was a little irritating at times, but she grew on me a little bit by the end of the novel.
Overall, it was just fantastic. In a genre where everything is getting over-done, it's nice to see original ideas surface. Sure the typical paranormal characters where present, vampires, faeries, werewolves, but Aden definitely threw something new into the mix. This is just my type of book. Can't wait for the next installment.(less)

I love her innovative spins on familiar lore, Jekel Loves Hyde was no exception. I've never read the classic tale of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, but I've been exposed to so much of the story, I had no problem deciphering Fantaskey's inspiration. And I don't think that other readers will have a problem either.
Jill and Tristan were two very interesting characters, but I didn't feel a deep connection to either one of them. The initial attraction that Jill felt for Tristan was believable enough, but I was never sure if it was really Tristan falling for Jill or his other side. I guess either way I could see him falling for her, but it seemed a little rushed for my taste. I guess I didn't see the appeal of Jill, she was a little too timid, a little too perfect. She just didn't have much personality, although by the end of the novel I did some some personal growth in her character which was refreshing!
There wasn't as much of a love story in this novel. Not to say that there isn't a love story.... there is, but it's overshadowed by the suspense of Jill and Tristan's race to find a cure. I didn't see a lot of the plot twists that Beth threw out there, especially at the end! I love being caught off guard!
Beth Fantaskey is such a fantastic writer! I really wanted to like this just as much or more than I did Jessica's Guide, but I'd still have to choose Jessica's Guide as my favorite.
Overall Jekel Loves Hyde is an enthralling take on a classic tale! (less)

Wow! What an awesome debut! Picked this one up, and didn't put it down until I was finished. Not only was there great charactizations, extraordinary writing and a infallible mystery, but the story itself was just spectacular!
I loved Despain's talent of weaving ideas of mythology seamlessly into the everyday world. The daily struggle of Grace's life, being the person she wants to be, and being the person that everyone expects her to be as a preacher's daughter, marvelously parallels the life of the everyday teenager.... preacher father or not.
The plot was quick and engaging and the ending is completely satisfying, while leaving the possibility for a sequel without being a cliffhanger.
This was just a fun book to read. I enjoyed reading about these characters and watching the plot unfold and the mystery ultimately revealed. Like I said before.... awesome debut! (less)

I don't really know what to say... I mean it was fabulous, it was one of those 'wow' reads. Where you don't see the last page coming because you just want it to keep on going... where you read the last sentence and immediately need the next novel... 'wow'
I really think Shade, as a paranormal novel, is going to stand out among the throngs of vampire, werewolf, and angel books. Although this isn't the first novel I've read about ghosts, the story is incredibly unique and well done. Plus it has that whole incredibly hot love triangle going on, which is something that I can't get enough of for some reason. And for once I don't have a definite side that I'm on.
Aura is a really well developed character and as a reader you can't help but get caught up in the emotional battle that she struggles with throughout this novel. Aura's character has a very compelling and relatable voice, and I think readers will automatically like her. I know I did. And the boys in this novel, wow. Hot guitar playing rock-star...er ghost, or a seriously sexy Scotsman....?
The whole mystery surrounding 'the shift' isn't really divulged upon in this novel. No one really knows what caused it, and the people that are trying to find an answer really only have assumptions. But don't think that Smith-Ready leaves you empty handed, there are a few big revelations that will keep you more than satisfied!

I wasn't sure how much I was going to enjoy continuing with this series, considering I wasn’t really a big fan of book two. Let me be the first to tell you that I am kicking my own butt for waiting so long. I read this book and the next two in the series in a matter of days. They were that good!
Let’s get back to My Soul to Keep.
One of the things that really bothered me about book two was Kaylee’s need to save people. It wasn’t so much her need to save people, but I didn’t particularly care for the person she was saving in book two. Although with that being said, I was glad to see that Addy redeemed herself in this installment. I even felt sorry for her and that never happened in book two. This time Kaylee is saving people that mean something to her, personally. Well in a round about way. I guess the same could have been said for Addy, but I just didn’t like her! What I’m trying to say is that Kaylee is back on my “like list”!
I was totally engrossed in Kaylee and Nash’s relationship this time around. I’m not really a fan of their relationship anyway. TEAM TOD! But it was seriously heartbreaking to watch what happens to these to. I think possibly because I know first hand how drugs can ruin a relationship, I had that feeling in my stomach reading this book. My heart hurt! I wanted to protect Kaylee!
This is such a wonderfully written story. I am absolutely invested in these characters! Vincent has done such a great job creating well fleshed out and realistic characters.

But I couldn't help but feel a kinship with her sarcastic and smart-ass attitude. In the end, I loved Bianca. I'm sure some readers will hate her. With Bianca, I think readers are either going to love her or hate her.... I don't think there will be too much in between.
Once of my favorite things about this novel beyond Bianca was her friends Casey and Jess and their friendship. It was so refreshing to see a group of girls that are supportive and honest with each other! Their friendship wasn't perfect, but I don't think a perfect friendship exists... these girls though, they had a good thing. And it was awesome to read about.
Wesley, the misunderstood bad boy womanizer, was the perfect counterpoint to Bianca's cynical nature. Those two were sizzling.... I loved their constant banter. Cracked me up.
The Duff is so fast paced... don't be surprised if you pick it up and don't put it down until your reading the last page, I know that I didn't. Kody has written a fantastic debut and I CAN'T WAIT to see more from her.
I loved the issues that Kody tackled head on... she didn't shove anything under the rug, she kept it authentic... which wasn't a surprise since she's fresh out of high school herself! LOVED!

I didn't love this novel because of the characters. I loved this novel because of the intricately weaved, never a dull moment plot... the history of the characters and their mythology. I absolutely fell for this story. It's action packed. I am not exaggerating when I say there isn't a dull moment... there's not! Nothing is what it seems... one word I wouldn't use to describe this novel is predictable. I had lot's of moments where my mouth was hanging open... I mean it was literally hanging open and usually gasping.
I really need to get over my apprehension of reading books that I really want to like. Am I the only one that does that. I'll hear about a book, that has everything that I think would make an awesome book, but then I'm afraid to read it because it may not live up to my expectations.... what is my problem. Nightshade was one of those books. I thought it sounded epic.... but could it really be that good? It was. And I have been kicking myself in the ass since I read it for not devouring it back in May when I had a chance to.
Let's talk about characters. Calla. I liked this girl. She was a very strong, resilient character. She has to be to a certain extent because she's an Alpha, but I think her Alpha status only magnifies those qualities, it doesn't define them. Ren and Shay were a toss up for me. I'm not really sure if I like either of them at this point. The characters that I did love: the pack members. The whole dynamic of the pack interaction was very fascinating. I need some more of that!
Nightshade is the perfect blend of everything I love in a novel. There is engaging plot, well written characters, romance and a BEAUTIFUL cover. I have to admit the cover is what initially drew me in.

The main characters in Perefect Chemestry are Alex and Brittany, the main characters in Rules of Attratction are Carlos (Alex's little brother) and Kiara. That being said, you don't necessarily have to read Perfect Chemistry first.
I loved Perfect Chemistry, there is something about it that is so very addictive, so when I heard that Elkeles was writing another novel about Alex's little brother, I knew I was in for a treat. Perfect Chemistry is still my favorite but Rules of Attraction was also fantastic!
I'm a complete sap for the bad ass guy with the good heart. I don't know what it is but ay dios mio, I can't get enough! And Carlos definitely knew how to play the bad ass guy card.
Both Carlos and Kiara are complex characters, Kiara might seem like the easier of the two to figure out, but she definitely has some hidden depths. Carlos seems like the bad guy on the outside, and he's made plenty of mistakes to get himself labeled as such, but his bad guy image isn't his problem. His problem is his pride. I loved getting to see that change throughout the novel.
I didn't think the relationship between Carlos and Kiara flowed as nicely as it had with Alex and Brittany in PC. It seemed a little abrupt and rushed, I never felt like I witnessed that "falling in love" moment. I was a little disappointed on that front, but nonetheless, I still reveled in seeing these two get together.
The ending might have came a little too fast and it was just a little unbelievable, not to mention there was another cheesy prologue (that I just ATE UP! I do love the cheese) but it just makes you feel all warm and tingly inside. And darn it, sometimes I just want to feel warm and tingly!
Overall Rules of Attraction was wonderfully written, with intriguing characters and a captivating love story. I’m ready for book three, please.(less)

The one thing that really stands out to me about this series... isn't the incredible cast of characters or the engrossing story.... it's the setting. I LOVE GATLIN. I want to live there.... eat Amma's pies, ride in Link's Beater to the Dar-ee Keen, waft in the scent of lemon trees at Ravenwood. There is something truly addicting about Gatlin... and I often find it hard to withdrawal from the world within the pages.
Beautiful Darkness is one word is intense. So much more happens to our beloved, Ethan and Lena. Beautiful Creatures was just the tip of the iceberg.... All that Caster information is well below the surface and I have a suspicion that Beautiful Darkness didn't even reveal it all.
The plot was a little slow at times for me.... I knew we were getting to something huge, but it just felt like it took forever to get there! Although, it was totally worth all the suspense that had built up in those five hundred some pages. Loved the new characters in this novel! Liv and John.... and I loved how Link and Ridley took some of the focus too! I am very interested to see what these new characters have in store for us in the next two books!
These are beautifully written novels and I truly admire Kami and Margie's talent! You ladies rock my world. This novel was great on its own... but I think it sets up something epic for book three. (less)
