Once I got into it, which took a few chapters, I couldn't stop reading! This is such a fun story, especially for those of us who still love those fairy tales. I have a thing for them. :) Rapunzel is a great character. She is a curious girl and isn't a wimpy female protagonist. She does rely on a man to save her a few times, but she also is able to take care of herself. She is a well developed character and I loved that about her! However, her well developed character also meant there were lots of details in the book. I know there are a lot of people who love the details, I am not one of them, so sometimes I'd skip paragraphs to move the story along. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for some, for me, it was. I loved the research that went into the history of this time period. I could tell there was quite a bit done in it... the food, the homes, the traditions... it was all there. I would recommend this book.

He has to teach her to fish and help her fish and that cuts into his fishing time and he is not happy about it.
I loved this little book. It's absolutely adorable! So many times my own children (similar ages as the children in this story) fight and fight. Then, I witness something so sweet between them and I wonder how I ever thought they were wild, crazy children. That's what this story tells. Siblings are fighting (as parents we so often witness) and then finally, something clicks and you see that love that the children share. It's a great story for kids to remind them that they really do love each other and they want to help their brother or sister out. It's a reminder to be selfless and to love one another.

She has to adjust to new friends and a new culture while dealing with her parents' divorce and being so far away from her father and friends. She has to deal with the difficulties of being taller than most and everyone thinking she is older than she is and how it makes it so hard to fit in, especially when her interests differ so much from those around her. Her biggest struggle her freshman year of high school is with the early signs of a stalker.
Heidi does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and their interactions were very real. My favorite character was probably Mike. What an awesome friend! The emotions as the letters started coming seemed believable, too. At first it was kind of weird and she wondered who it could be, but as the letters got creepier and creepier she realized this was very wrong. Since the stalker had done nothing to harm her, nothing could be done by the school. She just had to tolerate it.
This story seems to be setting things up for the rest of the story in future installments of the series. I do think this is a great series to get youth to understand how stalking can start off in very innocent ways and build into something frightening. I look forward to seeing how Sam handles everything in her sophomore year.

Okay, I'm going to be honest --- huge Hogwarts fan here. So, let me just say... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK! Okay, all done now. No, one more... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK! Okay, now I'm done. I had no preconceived ideas of what this book would be like. The story of Harry Potter was finished in my mind so I wanted to get this book to enjoy and not necessarily to continue Harry's story. So, I was just ready for a book about the world of witches and wizards and I was not disappointed. It is written as a play script and it took a few pages for me to get used to reading it that way instead of as a novel, but once I got the hang of it, it was easy to read and I forgot it was a play. It was just a story playing out in my head like any other book.

Oh, no, no,This is a wonderfully twisted version of the classic story of Cinderella. In this version, Cinderella doesn't only want to go to the ball. Oh, no, no, no, she wants to be queen so she can seek out revenge on her step sisters and step mother. She wants to make all the women of the kingdom envious of her. She wants to be the most beautiful woman and puts all her energy into earning the magic to make her the loveliest of them all.
There is an amazing twist you learn at the end of the story. I was like... wait... wha? But, I can't tell you! Spoilers! Just know that Cinderella is not as sweet and innocent as she is in the classic tale. This one is darker, but fun. It's a quick read, super simple, but very entertaining. I will admit, at the beginning I was slightly put off by it because I love the Grimm Brothers version and the Disney version and this one is completely different from both of those. Cinderella herself was twisted and darker in this one and that is where I was having trouble. However, once I accepted her as a dark version of Cinderella, I began enjoying the story a lot more. It was also a little slow at the beginning but really picked up about half way through.

I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next. That being said, there was also a lot of "cheese" in this book. There is some teenage "love" going on. They say things that are very lovey-dovey and I had to skim over those scenes because it was a bit too much cheese for me. It's mainly because there's so much of it and there's only so much I can take. Also, the romance was a key point to the story, so it couldn't have been taken out completely - maybe just dialed down some. I can't give you more than that without giving spoilers, so know that the romance is important and that's all I can say. The story was awesome and I barely stopped long enough to feed my children. So, if you don't mind a little sappy teen romance and want a story that can pull you in, this is the book for you. It's sort of like Twilight meets Wings with a sci-fi twist.

She read it to me and absolutely LOVED it! She says it's the best book she's ever read. She's also very excited it's a chapter book. She feels like a big kid reading these. They look like chapter books but are still her reading level which is fabulous for those rising 2nd graders who aren't quite ready for chapter books but think they are. These are just perfect!!!! I'm so glad there are more in the series because my daughter is reading those now as well. Billie is such a fun character. She isn't annoying or obnoxious like so many other books in this category. It's just fun while it teaches children how to handle everyday life problems. :) Love it!...more

I picked it up to see what it was and suddenly it was two hours later and I was finished with the book. I hadn't really planned on reading it. It just happened and it completely sucked me in. Each chapter ends with a cliff hanger that immediately makes the reader want to turn the page and keep going. My son is a reluctant reader so I'm hoping this one will keep him entertained and turning the page. ...more

She witnesses him kissing one of her best friends and drama ensues. This is a cute short story of the romantic genre. It only takes about 15-20 minutes to read. I am often hesitant of self published books. One never knows what type of writing will be in the book. This author had a wonderful writing style. She is descriptive enough to paint the picture with out boring the reader. Her sentences flow well, so it is beautifully done. There are some typos, but a significantly smaller amount of typos than a typical self published book. Overall, it was a fun story so I give it four stars....more
