It seemed like the author couldn't decide whether this was a book about high school drama and relationships or a story about surviving the record breaking snow storm. It had it's moments of suspense and some humorous moments. But in the end, I just couldn't suspend belief that it was possible for a storm to drop that much snow - even a nor'easter. (less)

(Or I should say that the show is so different from the books.) Anyway, I probably won't read any more of these almost entirely because of the graphic novel aspect.

So the publisher sent me this trilogy to read and with all the hype about 50 Shades of Gray I thought what the heck. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be and definitely not my cup of tea. I finished it but I don't think I will finish the series.
Side note: As I was reading the other reviews, one of the comments rang true for me. I, too, thought this would be an adult retelling of Sleeping Beauty... not at all what it turned out to be. I also loved the reviewer who said that if there was a drinking game centered on the word spanking, you wouldn't make it very far in the book before you would pass out drunk. LOL

Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality is an authentic look at the struggles of a typical teen trying to find herself and figure out who she is. The relationships are realistic and believable. The ups and downs Lexi goes through with her friends, her family and with herself are very relate-able. There were several situations throughout this book that I went through as a teen making Lexi's story hit home for me in many ways.
I don't know how Elizabeth Eulberg does it but time and again she is able to portray authentic teen experiences. Many of the teen books dealing with boyfriends and high school problems are so hard for me to read because the characters are all "oh my god" and "whatever" but not in Elizabeth's books. She is able to develop characters and relationships between families and friends that are so genuine and believable. And the fact that she brought in the whole glitz pageant scene in her book just makes it all the more awesome! (less)

But because I love the show The Walking Dead so much, and I got this book for Christmas from my sister, that I decided to give it a shot. I enjoyed reading it but found myself skipping over parts of it just because graphic novels are difficult for me to read. (That sounds stupid, but that is just the way it is for me)
Anyway, I enjoyed the story. It is very different from the show, which makes it seem to me like my own entity. (Or vise versa I guess... book first, then show.)
I am not sure I will read any of the other books, even though I bought them for my husband for Christmas. : )(less)

The story line was exciting. Julie moves to a new small town which is a real culture shock from city life in Virginia! She struggles to fit in at first but ends up drawing the attention of suitors as a result of a series of misadventures. The author kept me guessing right until the end. And what an ending it is!
I kind of felt bad for the main character because from the start of the book she just had one unfortunate event occur after another. She starts out feeling like an outsider in the town only to soon find herself getting way too much attention... especially from the police chief and a sketchy man from the Sioux Indian Nation. The author takes us through Julie's experiences and it is really cool to see her transformation from the beginning of the book to the end.
Touching the Moon has passion, seduction, love, intrigue, danger, and (best of all) wolves. (less)

I love how the author uses words in ways that capture the raw emotion the main character is experiencing. Having also lost a best friend I know that that loss completely rocks your world and even more so when you were a part of the "calamity". There were parts of the story that hit home and struck an emotional chord.
***The next paragraph may come of as slightly spoilerish for some***
**Be warned... possible spoilers...**
I would have easily given this book 5 stars if the story hadn't seemed to drag on a little too long. By about half way through the story the main character's struggles almost become redundant and her behavior seems somewhat irrational (which is maybe what the author intended). I just felt like it took too long for the author to get to the climax of the story and once she took us there I wanted to know more but the story ended too quickly.
I really like the author's writing style and look forward to reading more of her books in the future!

Well, I have to admit that the first two books were much better than this one. But I think the biggest reason for that is the huge shift in the author's writing style. Moving from a first person perspective, the author decided to tell the story from a third-person, omniscient, point of view. The story switches between several different groups of survivors rather than just told from the main character's perspective. The main character is actually a relatively minor character in this story. I needed to witness the internal thoughts and stress and fear that the first person narrative offered to really feel like a part of this story rather than an on-looker. I felt distanced from the action. I almost think he could have pulled all of those stories apart, made them into short stories, and instead told them from each character's perspective. It would have brought back that intensity I felt in the first two books.
I also felt like the author tried to throw too much into this book. There were so many different story lines going on it almost felt diluted and the addition of more technical jargon lost me in a few places, too. My biggest complaint though is the rushed ending. After putting the characters into seemingly impossible to survive situations throughout the first two books, the characters seem to prevail much too easily in this book. As the ending approached, I was a little disappointed in how quickly things were wrapped up. I thought more time could have been spent on that than on some of the other story lines. I still really liked the book and the action kept me wanting to read it. But I definitely didn't devour it like I did the first two books.
Having said all of that, I thought the author did a great job continuing the explanation behind the why and the how of the "anomaly". There was plenty of zombie mayhem involved and a lot of action and adventure. (less)

I guess I just really don't get what the hype is with this book. I was so excited to read it and when I finally started reading it, it took me forever to finish it because I just could not get into the story. The characters were annoying, most especially the main one. The whole premise behind the Dauntless group was frustrating. I wanted to slap them upside the head and tell them to grow up. The romantic side story had its moments, but that also fell flat for me. I think the storyline could have been shortened and cleaned up making it a much more intense and interesting read. I have Insurgent sitting here (I bought them both at the same time) and I really don't think I will read it. Overall quite disappointed. (less)

I absolutely loved this book... until the end. I spent the whole book trying to guess who did it... who murdered Jefferson. The author did a great job building up the suspense and definitely kept me guessing. But once the killer was revealed I felt the book completely tanked. I detested Abby and Maya's conversation in the jailhouse. And I thought it was really stupid how Abby and Cheyanne behaved at the very end of the book. I wish I had stopped reading right when I found out who really killed him...

From the start Dead and Buried is a page turner. The main character tells her story of dealing with moving to a new town and into a new house, starting at a new school, boys, and most importantly an angry ghost haunting her new house. The author grabbed my attention from the start and had me guessing until the very end... exactly the kind of thriller story I love to read!

For some reason books with this style of story grasp my attention. I love reading books like this one that give me an inside look at someone else's life and gives me a chance to walk in someone else's shoes for a short time. Skinny is quite an emotional story about a girl who is dealing with being over 300 pounds and in high school. Not to mention all the other social pressures - boys, clothes, grades, school musicals, dances, and family life. Ever goes through quite a journey.
