When I was reading the Twilight series most of my friends said that if I liked those books I would LOVE The Hunger Games. My oldest son actually started reading them a long time before I did and said the same thing. He was so excited for me to start reading them. Then just before Christmas I found a Kindle App for my phone. Yes, it took my phone being able to download the book to get me to read it. What can I say, I'm an Android junkie!
I downloaded the book on Thursday afternoon. That was my first mistake, because I had to work the next day. I ended up staying up all night reading the book and finishing it by 4:00 am on Friday. Then I had to get up at 6:00 am to try and work. Luckily I work from home and my wonderful partner & boyfriend let me take a nap during the day. I made him a promise that I wouldn't download or start reading the next book in the series until the following weekend so I wouldn't be so tired during work hours.
Yes, the book is THAT good! I absolutely loved it! It's been a long time since I have read a book that not only kept me awake not wanting to put it down, but made me want to run out and get the second and third books to continue the story. Needless to say, I was finished with the entire series in less than a week!
The characters are amazing. The storyline, while not completely unique, is compelling and draws you into the characters lives like you are living it with them. There are also so many twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat (or bed, depending on where you are reading) that you can't guess what's going to happen next.
I highly recommend this book to just about anyone over the age of 12 or 13. My boys love the books. All of my friends and their teens love the books. It is a great story for anyone of almost any age. Beware, there is a lot of violence.... gross, graphic violence! But it's definitely needed for the story, so it's not gratuitous violence. If they made it into a movie (which they are planning on doing) it would probably have to be rated R if they kept with the violence, but still defintely needed! But if you start reading this book, you WILL want to read the other two, so you might as well buy the whole set at once. LOL!...more

Or maybe it's because I was raised by a single mom who had severe medical problems with children who had severe medical problems. Or maybe it's because this is an excellent, uplifting, wonderfully written book. Whatever the reason, I loved this book!
This is an auto-biography of a Single mom of two children, who goes through a horrendous recovery process after brain surgery. With the love of her family and friends, she's able to find the wonderful little things in life, the Cranberries. Shari Bookstaff writes about how she discovers that when life throws you lemons, if you add the wonderful little cranberries to it, you get something much better than lemonade... you get Cranberry Juice!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who's gone or going through a rough time in their lives. It's very inspirational and uplifting to read how she makes it through one of the worst things that can happen to a single mom. I'd especially recommend this book to every single mom out there, because if she can make it through her brain surgery and recovery and find the good things in life, then no matter what you're going through, you can too!

So when I was offered the chance to review this newIf you know me at all, you'd know that I love cooking. I love food, and I love trying new things. So when I was offered the chance to review this new little cookbook with lots of Italian recipes, I jumped at the chance. I was not disappointed either. With 66 recipes of all types of food, from sweet cakes and fun drinks, to salads and pastas, you'll find something you'll love in this book.
I tried the Eggplant Parmesan recipe for my review. I've been buying fruit and veggies from a local food co-op and luckily in one of the baskets was a beautiful eggplant. Not wanting to leave anyone out that might not like eggplant, I also used this recipe with chicken breasts as well. The recipe, Easy Eggplant Parmesan is on page 14 in the book. This is a quick and easy recipe that anyone of any skill level can handle with no problem. It turned out deliscious and was easy to make after a long day at work.
Being a busy working mom with two teenagers, I like recipes with few ingredients, easy, quick, and won't cost me an arm and a leg to make. This cookbook fills the bill nicely. The next recipe I'm going to try is the Mayonaise Cake! I know, Right?! Mayo Cake?!?! Reading through the description though, sounds YUMMY!! Luckily I have all the ingredients and I even have fat free mayo. So it doesn't have to have too much fat in it. ;)
If you're a busy mom or dad, love to cook, like easy recipes that you can make quickly and have a great sit down dinner with your family, this is a great book to have in your cookbook library! I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone! No matter your skill level as a cook, this book will let you prepare some fantastic meals, drinks, and desserts! This would be a great gift for a kid going off to college, a house warming present, or even a wedding gift. I'd also recommend it for the holidays! Definitely a great Christmas present for sure!
