We have the usual, Sookie getting caught in the middle of vampire politics and fighting. Her relationship with Eric takes a turn, but we are left waiting for the next book to see how that will turn out. There are cameo appearances by Amelia & Bob, Jason, Bill, Mr. Cataliades, Sam, Tara, and Bubba.
Sookie has Claude and Dermot her fairy relatives living with her. It is possible they are up to something. Sookie learns more about her fairy family and how it is tied to her grandmother and her gift. Eric is still at odds with Victor, the regent in charge of running La for the King. He also is busy with making Eric, Sookie, and Pam's life hell. Oh and a not so fun blast from the past is after Sookie to kill her again and won't stop trying until someone is dead. I can't wait for the next one, I just hate that I have to wait a year....more

Each story was a glimpse into Sookie's life between books. The stories appeared in sequential order in relation to the series. The first, "Fairy Dust" gave us the background story on Claude and Claudine's sister's death at a time when Sookie did not know her twin cousins well. "Dracula Night," the only story with Vampire Eric (Eric fans, sorry to disappoint) I have read before in the anthology "Many Bloody Returns." Harris stated that she smoothed this story out a litte from its original version, the original ended abruptly (which is why I hate short stories, they end too soon). "One Word Answer" was my favorite story and had a surprising twist. This gave more insight to Sookie's cousin Hadley's murder and a different glimpse at the Vampire Queen from Louisiana. "Lucky" was a pointless story, other than the fact that it showed the friendship between Sookie and friend who happens to be a witch, Amelia. The last, "Gift Wrap" the most recently published, dealt with Sookie's Fairy Prince Great Grandfather and his attempt to spend Christmas with Sookie after orchestrating a surprising gift for her. I would recommend this book to any Sookie Stackhouse fan! ...more
This was a really good book! I can't wait to find out what happens next and if some questions at the end of this book will be answered. I heart Eric! This was a really good book! I can't wait to find out what happens next and if some questions at the end of this book will be answered. I heart Eric! I think they will get back together for good, was Niall referring to the vampire that loves Sookie is Eric? I think both Eric and Bill love Sookie, but I hope in the end the winner is Eric. I want to know why wasn't Eric there to save Sookie himself, I am sure he was busy doing other important things to help save her though (I don't want to reveal too many spoilers). I'm glad that the death of Sookie and Jason's parents were finally explained... this book seemed to tie up some loose ends finally. I am disappointed about Claudine and that I have to wait another year to find out what happens next....more

This series is definitely vOk, I read this book because Annie told me to and I needed to find new books that could fill the Twilight void in my life. This series is definitely very different from the Twilight series, and definitely for adults instead of young readers, but I did enjoy it. It is about a waitress in a small town in Louisiana named Sookie Stackhouse who has a sixth sense (she can read minds). She falls in love with a vampire named Bill. The time period is modern day, a time when vampires are mainstreaming their lives with humans. There is mystery and murder that accompanies this book that makes this book a page turner. I can't wait to read the next book of the series....more
